but the alternative outlook is that he’s had a poor start to the season at club level and has been given dogs-abuse by the fans, so is relieved to have scored an important goal for his country and away from his club responsibilities. It can only be a good thing for us, him scoring and/or playing well for England after all.
It’s as if we’d rather he play poorly for England so it justifies the criticism he’s had, for me that’s bizarre.
