International Triangular Series

the rain delay very much disrupted our batsmen, very annoying. 35 needed off 11, very unlikely but we have chased very well, I am very happy with our performance.

Brave innings, just 9 short in the end. Great innings by Oram, 100 off just 71 balls.

Lost by 8 runs

You should be proud mate.

Great reply.

Fielding made the difference. (dropped catches)

8 runs short. Bugga.. Still a very good chase and extremely proud of the boys, and if Vincent was rightly given not out maybe we could of even won the match. Bring on the Pommies

Our bowlers were shit but we still got the job done. Brilliant.

If we win every game forthcoming Australia will be the first team to go through a summer of cricket without defeat since the introduction of World Series Cricket back in the 70's. Would be a nice record to have.

We will beat you at least once, mark my words. With Bond, Styris and arguably Franklin to come back into our squad, and with Vincent at the top in good form and Fleming finding form, and with Oram looking brillaint we will get even stronger.

Problem for us is, for the last few games, we haven't been able to combine good batting with good bowling and it's cost us a few anxious moments.

When both sides are on fire, we are unbeatable.

I think if we were to win a toss on one of the one sided pitches that seem quite common around Australia, we would be up to it if our team also batted and bowled well at the same time. So far we have bowled well and certainly have better spinning options than anyone, it is our top order batting that has let us down.

Bloody good effort by the Kiwis though. England would have all out for 120.

The thing is we have come close the last two times we have played the aussies, net won neither. Until we do, we are no better off than England, and as it stands we still need to repeat our performance against the Pommies to make the final.

And England have lost the toss, or the Kiwis have won it, depending on your point of view.

England are unchanged personnel wise, although Strauss has apparently dropped down the order to No 4.

Oh, New Zealand elected to bat by the way.

New Zealand on 107/2.

21 overs down.

EDIT: How they haven't lost a wicket these last two overs is something we might end up regretting later. Bell probably should've caught Vincent, and then we had one of them stumped for sure, but the umpire never called for a replay so...so the Kiwis are now on a 117/2.

Taylor getting to 50 shortly after Vincent got to his. Looking at a big total, and the amount of turn will be encouraging for the NZ spinners

190/2, 16 to go.

EDIT: Make that 190/3, it hung in the air for a while it seemd and you did wonder, but Monty took the catch well enough.

We needed that, things were starting to get out of hand, run away from us, they still might, but you have to hope this is the beginning of something.

England 319 to win, super boundary hitting by Oram at the end

The man from my very own city, bought up through the same highschool from me, who lives a few blocks from me, JACOB ORAM does it again, fantastic boundary hitting at the end, showing his true ability in this series

Just starting to feel a bit scared :), good chase so far from you guys, 88/1 after 17 overs. The big test however is how you will cope with our two spin kings Patel and Vettori, needing 7 an over for 30 overs.

Can you believe that? Oh for...

Just when the whole of England was in serious danger of becoming quite positive about our chances too. :( :)

100/2 then.

Well Strauss, if your potential walks out there with you and not your bad luck and poor form, we're still in this.

I want to see a "Miracle on 34h Street" moment here from the Caf Barmy Army, do you believe?

brilliant set up to get Strauss out, Vettori pushes it down leg, Strauss charges and McCullums there to take a good stumping.

I'm just laughing my ass off with that stumping

GAME SET MATCH!

We'd kick your ass in tennis though.

Well, at least we're being put out of our misery, until the World Cup when it shall probably begin all over again.

Wait what did he do?

Dropped Nixon on the boundary, an absolute sitter. It went straight through his hands resulting in a six. We have just won the game by 58 runs, Nixon out for 49 on the last ball of the innings

Oh it's not that funny, i tell you what it is though, all we need to do now to extend our little holiday downunder, is beat the Aussies. Now THAT, is funny.

Note to all the English here, for our valiant effort in denying the Kiwis their bonus point, there will be an open top bus parade and knighthoods for all involved, date TBC. ;)

Apparently some of the players are saying they are 'encouraged by the progress they're making'.

Joyce and Monty could claim that, maybe Plunkett too if we are going look for some positives.

Oh, and we notched up 260 runs today, bot bad by our current modest standards.

Being less woefully incompetent is not a sign of improvement however anyone tries to dress it up.

ENGLAND ARE 107/1

Just shy of 22 overs down.

Have England finally arrived in Australia?

Bell's just been caught, in comes Flintoff.

Time for us to try and really push on here.

170/2
