International Triangular Series

Oh come on, it wasn't that bad, nor that funny.

We're currently ranked right near the bottom, just above Bangladesh and Zimbabwe FYI.

However, with a weakened side, we held our own agaisnt Pakistan last summer. And last time we were in the Windies, our bowlers had a good time of it, the conditions suited us.

where's the misery?

they've gone from absolutely pummeling us to just beating us with a bit of luck.

with Vaughan and KP still fit plus Hussey getting a proper decision it could so easily have been very different.

i see the beginnings of an upswing.

Where are England rated in one day cricket? I would check the internet if it wasn't for the fact that I am still strapped to my bed after throwing faeces at the nice nurse lady......

that's a shame.

Feck, eleven now......
England is ranked 8th of 11 according to ICC.

Just got back from a wonderful week at the beachhouse, splendid results.

Hussey is the man, although I wonder when our luck will run out. Ponting, Gilly and Hayden seem to have all gone off form slightly at the same time.

I wasn't following it live so i'm basing this on what i've heard and how the fiugures look BUT...

It would seem that our batting display went about as well as a Shetland Pony in the Grand National, and that's probably being kind to the pony.

I mean, what the hell happened? I woke up at 4:30-ish, and the Kiwis looked in a pretty dodgy position, a target we should have chased down in our own uqique bungling way. Instead, what, we bungled things outirght?

Only three people made it into double figures, and that's including Colllingwood who only made 10. Strauss at least hung around for 19, Joyce's 47 is soemthing he can be proud enough of though, but then what...

*sigh*

Kinnell. How did we manage to lose this one? We were something like 75 for 3 on 25 overs, not great but still fairly comfortable chasing 210. Then we're all out for 120! Sack Fletcher, sell Flintoff!

grown into a right little looker since he stopped cutting his hair like the Count off Sesame Street...

:wenger: Hes got a wierd face, always looks cross lol. Bowled very well yesterday mind you, brilliant bowling performance from us and tbh you never looked like winning it even though the score we were defending was low. I dont think that your batsmen are in the right mindset at the moment (with the exception of Joyce and Flintoff), although with the quality of your team I am sure you will bounce back sooner or later, although as a NZ supporter I hope it is the latter :D

Just heard some worrying news

New Zealand cricket team management have scheduled a press conference amid speculation a key player could be returning home.

Team media manager John Durning said the press conference at their team hotel in Perth was for an "important announcement", but wouldn't elaborate.

He said it had nothing to do with the arrival of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) chief executive Martin Snedden who joined the team this week in a show of support after they struggled through the opening stages of the tri-series before beating England on Tuesday.

Durning and manager Lindsay Crocker wouldn't confirm or deny if a player was departing, or if the player was out-of-form or injured.

One player under recent pressure has been veteran opener Nathan Astle who struggled with scores of nought, 45, nought and one.

Key paceman Shane Bond has returned from a back injury to take his 100th one-day international wicket against England on Tuesday.

He told reporters on Thursday he was still feeling pain in his back but was intent on playing through it and taking the field in their next match, against Australia on Sunday.

Not sure what exactly it is about, but I will keep you all posted

Today is a truly sad day for New Zealand, one of our finest cricketers ever to play for us, Nathan Astle, has retired from international cricket. :( Like Damien Martyn, the enjoyment and motivation factor was no longer there for Astle who decided the best thing for the team was to retire and give someone else a chance, as he could no longer give it his all to the team.

Personally, I am very sad to see Astle go but am extremely greatful to have been around through Astle's prime years. Astle was one of the best one day international cricketer we have ever produced and will always be remembered how he blungeoned bowling attacks around the world, most noticably his 222 against the Pommies, which he still holds the record for the quickest test double century, from 153 balls. Astle scored 16 ODI centuries at 35, by far the most ODI centuries by a NZer, and puts him alongside the greats of cricket. Astle was a key member of our team for the best part of 14 years and will leave a huge whole in our team, not just because of his batting, but he was a go to man with the ball with his medium pacers, and his experience and safe hands in the slips were invaluable. Astle was a model cricketer who never put himself in the limelight, and just got on with the job. He refused to live the celebrity life and it was his laid back attitude that meant even in his latter years he was never chosen in captaincy roles. Thank you for the memories Nathan :(

Didn't think they could do worse than 120 but they did

A real shower of shite this lot have turned into.

Decent effort on the chase 5/237, 40 overs. Last hope with McCallum and Oram out in the middle

Yes it has been a very good chase and if those two stay in anything can happen. Great to see Vincent scoring runs, and his LBW decision was a shocker.
