thought i'd put some old demons to bed and start the thread...maybe my luck's turned.

alrighty, first up...

Australia v England, Melbourne, Friday 12th January 3:15am

England get stuffed bowled out for 12 in 5 overs, they go home.

Barmy Army get padded up in a beer match and beat the Aussies by 6 runs!

You heard it here first! ;)

I'd have to agree with Rams here. We've all had enough of the slaughter.

slate's clean as far as tonight's concerned.

hope they take the past few months misery out on the Black Caps.

that said, i like New Zealand...so maybe not crush them too badly.

You probaly won't like us much once we give you a bit of a dicking today :).

Flem wins the toss and elects to bat first, 17/0 off 3 overs, Mcullums 12 off 6 and looking in good touch.

Will be interesting if England lose this... no more of this "We're still great, just Australia are gods and would make anyone look like a bunch of half-wit morons" excuse making...

My good god, England are going to win a match on this tour! And I'm too tired to stay up to it's conclusion so after having stayed up for all the Ashes, I shall still not see us victor. I can finally sleep at ease though :wenger:

Sod sleep I got excited, I'm not even that keen on one day cricket but the prospect of England competing in a game, never mind favourites now to win it, got me salivating! All doesn't look good on the injury front though, ******gwood limping and worse Vaughan has a dicky knee again, they're saying it's his hamstring but that must be bollocks because as far as I know your hamstring isn't in your kneecap, and thats what he keeps grasping

Shaping up to be a good game, We got the wicket we needed which makes it a fairly even game at the moment, as our team are very good at bowling in the middle stages of the innings with the likes of Vettori and Patel.

McCallum will be kicking himself for missing that catch

I wouldn't call this an even game currently, still stacked in Englands favour for me, 9 wickets left, and only 150 needed from nearly 35 overs. That said, we don't do anything with any flair or class do we, so much for 'powerplay'...

Geeze, how costly will that drop be. Brad, it is not as much in your favour as you think it is, the pitch is slowing up and considering we still have Vettori and Patel still to bowl, anything can happen. That said I still expect you Pommies to win it

And that my friend is an awful call, atrocious. So sad to see wickets at a vital stage given like that, even as a Kiwi supporter.

Utterly typical for Strauss this tour unfortunately. And it seems to happen just as you think he might be regaining some of his form.

75/2

Current run rate required, 4.5 an over they just said i think.

112/4

18 overs remaining, 94 to find.

We are in a precarious position at the minute, England walking their usual tightrope. :nervous:

Good bowling by Patel to pick up Bell. Should be a good finish. Hopefully the Black Caps can pull it back to around 50 runs off 50 balls.

Good win England, and well played. Flintoff is a world class player, and finished off the innings brilliantley. Sadly for us our top order didn't perform again, even though I thought our bowling was great. It will be interesting to see if you can continue this onto Australia or not.

Tense game right till the end. That Gillespie over with the missed run-out and then the no-ball wicket was a big turning point.

plus, kiwi fruits are really good for you...you can't go wrong with these people!

p.s. and all it took was one of my threads ;)

Either the Kiwi's are really really crap or the Ozzie's are just out of this world.
Or maybe somewhere in between.

Only England could make me feel slightly shit after we win our first match on a tour which has lasted about 2 months by now. The attitude towards the batting of the top order was nothing short of disgraceful, thankfully Flintoff bailed us out but he isn't going to be able to do that everytime. Should have been an absolute cruise and it was nothing of the sort.

Must mention the Strauss dismissal. That umpire should be struck from the list, an absolutely shocking decision. In fact it was worse than that, was a bent decision. Not only did he play at it outside the line, so it couldn't be out, it was going over the stumps, and the biggest thing obviously was that Strauss middled the bloody ball into his pads. Not an edge, he absolutely twated it there! Well done Mr Strauss, if I'd been given that decision I'd have at the bare minimum lost my match fee with my reaction, maybe worse.

well, we're on course to lose this third one...but not feeling too bad about it.

least we actually bothered to give them a fight in the second innings.

Quality innings from Hussey. Lee chipped in well, too.

Hussey is a cheat, was out and he knew it. Might not have changed the end result, but tainted the Australian victory

The English thought he was out, he thought he was out, the Aussie commentator on the BBC knew it by the look on his face. Indeed, the only person who didn't think so, was the umpire.

Hussey gone, we very well might finished them off.

Now that all being said, if we hadn't been quite so generous to them with our batting, our chances would also have been far better.

Haven't seen it but Bell was invovled in a right comedy of a run out so they were saying.

When i woke up and heard that we'd been "put to the sword", was the headline, 150 all out. I feared the worst, but a plucky display by a Brit(s) leaves with you mixed feelings even in defeat. I suppose we'll see something similar sooner or later at Melbrourne from Murrary.
