Out of that list it's Ragnick for me.
It would be interesting to see who the majority of United fans favour out of the 5 reported interim candidates.
I do love how a lot of posters can't even spell his name but are convinced that Rangnick is the right choice.
I watched a lot of Dortmund under him (more so for Sancho and Haaland) and more often than not they were very entertaining and looked organised as an attack. That being said I agree, regardless of formation, 3 or 4 at the back they always were a bit of a shambles defensively with a lot of individual errors.

He’s probably hoping to get the job full time, assuming he does well. Or this could be a step towards getting another job in the PL or elsewhere

Favre would be a dream come true. Not necessarily for the best of the team but for me personally.
Always wondered how he'd do with an elite team. He would be kind of a risky option, sure. But he surely showed that his tactics and handlings of difficult personalities are top class. Saved Gladbach and Hertha miraculously and was not afraid to bench big characters. Would be a nice interim choice.
Don't know about permanent, though. Dortmund was already too big for him in terms of interest, media etc.

With our board being as incompetent as they are what worries me the most is one of these interim managers goes on a decent run maybe picks up an FA Cup and they make the same mistake twice and end up appointing him manager full time.
Considering now we are in the KO stages of the UCL, what if the interim does a Tuchel & wins it?
Good question, I was thinking about this the other day. Say we go with Ragnick and he wins the double(FA cup and Champions league). Big IF of course, will fans want him as permanent manger if it meant missing out on Caf favorites Ten Hag, Zidane and Pochettino?
You stick to the plan. An interim manager could win the CL, as someone like Roberto Di Matteo did for example. It doesn't automatically make them a good enough manager in the long run, as Chelsea found when they made Di Matteo permanent manager.
Whoever we appoint as interim isn't good enough to be permanent manager. We have enough of a body of evidence already to know this. If they do well as interim manager (even winning the CL) then they were an excellent interim appointment. That doesn't magically make them a different manager to the one you already knew wasn't good enough to be a permanent appointment though.
That would be a tough one. I think it would come down to the fashion in which we won it in, if we won it convincingly by blitzing some serious teams on the way then yes maybe give him it permanently. However if we fluked it and just limped over the line then no.
Sorry but there's no way we could have interviewed multiple people in private over the last month. The fact that journalists know we were even fielding calls and noting which managers would be interested in replacing Ole shows that that wasn't possible. Man Utd simply expected Ole to be able to get enough out of the team to manage through the rest of the season and that didn't happen so they were forced to act quicker. Having the news out there that we were seriously interviewing people would have made the situation even worse.
This current approach is the best of a bad situation. We're working through shortlists of permanent and interim candidates. It's apparent that getting a permanent man is going to be extremely difficult considering the time of season and the calibre of the clubs those people are at. So we have the backup interim options to choose from.
Apparently, it's Murtough and Fletcher involved so that's why. We're letting the football people have an input.
It's a good opportunity for everyone on the list except Rangnick to out their names into the ring for either the permanent United job or another big club job. It'll show the footballing world that they've still got it. It's a win for any of them if they manage to do well with us regardless of whether they get the permanent job or not. Gets their names back out there.
Doubtful. They'd have to be announced by tomorrow the latest and on the training ground by Friday. Otherwise, it'll be the Arsenal match.

The problem is gonna be getting him out of Russia, which it seems is gonna be difficult according to reports. Murtough might have to go for his 2nd/3rd choices.
All this talk about shortlists with actual names, interviews etc. makes me confident it won't be Carrick.
I think we all know that the club doesn't have a plan and Woodward is hoping that Carrick beats Chelsea and Arsenal so he has an excuse to keep him in charge until the summer.

I just think this is negativity for the sake of negativity, when all the noise suggests otherwise? It's draining just how relentlessly miserable this place can be.
