Indians suspend Aussie tour

Rightio pretend you are captain of your country mate.

One of your players and best mates comes up to you and tells you he has been racially abused.

What on earth was he supposed to do?

They have denied it on several occasions now and I've already presented these reports in previous posts.

Have you? I haven't seen one yet that plainly states that he didn't say the word "monkey". I may have missed them of course. The closest I have seen was Kumble (I think) who said that he believed that the player claims the words wasn't said. And if it wasn't said why did Kumble approach Ponting to try to "sort it out privately".

Even if they are now cliaming that the word wasn't said why has it taken so many days of equivocation? The obvious inference is that the word was said and the player is claiming it to be just another insult.

I wonder what was said by both sides in the hearing?

I find it quite baffling that a dark-skinned Indian calls a dark-skinned Aussie a ‘monkey’ which is obviously a derogatory term for a black person.
It would be like me calling a Frenchman a ‘white bastard’ or something.
My suggestion would be to invade India again, sort them out as they’ve lost their way since 1947 it would seem.

Aussies - "Did"
Indians - "Did not"

Aussies - "Did"
Indians - "Did not"

etc

mehro I looked at a couple of the articles

all they seem to say is 'I didn't say anything racist' not 'I didn't call him a monkey'

Why is that a key word? It is his job to adjudicate on the matter. Short of video footage with the insult audible AND a statement from the player admitting he meant it as a racist insult, a degree of judgement is required. If you demand a higher degree of proof you might as well remove referees from football games as well.
Ands where did you hear that? Harbhajan has always denied having said it.

The fact that they haven't come right out and said that he didn't say it, just that there is no proof hints that they are not actually denying the word was uttered just that it wasn't racists. Despite being aimed at the only black man on the field and despite the huge publicity that resulted from the disgraceful targeting of Symond with racist chants and signs on the last tour of India. To suggest that the offensive nature of such a comments wasn't know is ludicrous.
I repeat, Harbhajan has always denied having said it and so has the rest of the squad and BCCI. More importantly, Tendulkar, who was on the pitch when the arguement took place, has also said Harbhajan didnt say it.

During the hearing if India's defense was that Harbhajan did say the word but he claimed ignorance abouts its meaning, i am sure the ICC would have made this information public, once the BCCI threatened to boycott the tour.
The mere fact that the ICC has not given full support to the match referee in its decision shows that they also know that there was a lot of greay area in the way the judgement was passed.

None of you feckers knows the truth, you can only sit here and speculate which can go on forever. It would be wiser to look forward to the third Test which is going to be a Monumental Embarassment.VRV Ishant and RP ffs...why can't we just loan someone from Pakistan?Actually chuck it they'd probably give us Sami or someone.

Cheating aussies.

Waaaaaa.....back in germany now...thankfully. Indian media's coversge of all this shit was doing my head in.

saying monkey = being racist
therefore, didnt say anything racist = didnt say monkey
;)

not quite when alot of the indian fans on forums/discussion boards and the indian officials say 'monkey isn't a racist or derogatory remark in india'

tendulkar was probably also on the other side of the pitch

not sure where the rest of the aussies that gave evidence were situated
but it would makes sense if singh was on strike as ponting/clarke/hayden/gilchrist would all be on that end of the pitch.

Tendulkar isn't exactly a player sporting a clean record

I remember this and being quite shocked about it.

Like half the racist incidents in India, it wouldn't have been said with any hatred towards Symonds, if he said anything racist at all. It would've been done in a observational stand-point but with demeaning undertones. While the problem can't be dismissed that easily, i.e. from the Indian perspective, it has been blown out of proportion by the Aussies.

They {Australians} have definitely demoralised the Indian camp though and hence you can say this controversy served their purpose.

Read what I said again.

I haven't seen any quote that denies it being said. I have seen lots of quotes saying that he denies saying anything racist. The suggestion from the very carefully worded denials is that it was said but not meant in a racist way. Which is a bit comical.

Convicts.

Get to feck you, the convicts in the early 1800’s still had it better than most if the current-day Indian population do today, you and your Indian mates will have to start realizing this scenario was created by your cricketers, the whining little soft cnuts who threatened to walk away from the tour when their racist remarks were met with retaliation.
Go make my mam a fecking chicken korma.

No, Indian camp has always denied it.

"I spoke to Ricky that day," he wrote in his column for the Hindustan Times, "and having heard from Bhajji [Harbhajan] and Sachin before that, I was convinced that there had neither been any racist remark made, nor intended. I asked Harbhajan why he started it and he said he hadn't, Symonds did and goaded, he responded. But he insisted he made no racist comment.

And whether you believe it or not, it is not a racist remark in India. Even Steve Waugh has come it and said so. May be even he is covering up for racists as well, eh?

Now that is racist.

After the fuss over the remark and the fact that the only black player in the Australian team is the one targeted by such taunts and you believe that it was said without racist intent.

And even if true, which I doubt, would it be OK to call him a nigger of it doesn't have the same degree of offensiveness in India?

It is just bullshit. It is everything to do with nationalist ego and feck all to do with the real happenings.

Bar a few, people in India don't even know what nigger means or it's relevance.

It is actually just about ok to call chinese looking people chinki here. I had to hold back some Indian people in Europe using that word openly in front of Chinese people.

India is not in tune with the political correctness surrounding racial issues in the world. Mainly because it is irrelevant in our part of the world. We are more occupied with dealing with our own religious and caste prejudices.

I aint saying Tendulkar has a clean past but Symonds, Clarke and Ponting havent shown themselves to be the most truthful in the past. Forget the past in this match itself Clarke (took a bump catch and claimed it was clean). He lied/cheated on the instance how does the match refereee know he didnt do the same at the hearing?

That's racist. I thought you were english anyway?

You can't defend it by pleading ignorance, you have to respect other cultures. He may not have meant it in the way other racist comments are said, filled with hate, but it was still racist no matter what.

Racist cnuts.

"There was once a Indian and an Pakistani who lived next door to each other. The Indian owned a hen and each morning would look in his garden and pick up one of his hen's eggs for breakfast.

One day he looked into his garden and saw that the hen had laid an egg in the Pakistani's garden. He was about to go next door when he saw the Pakistani pick up the egg. The Indian ran up to the Pakistani and told him that the egg belonged to him because he owned the hen. The Pakistani disagreed because the egg was laid on his property.

They argued for a while until finally the Indian said, "In my family we normally solve disputes by the following actions: I kick you in the balls and time how long it takes you to get back up, then you kick me in the balls and time how long it takes for me to get up, who ever gets up quicker wins the egg."

The Pakistani agreed to this and so the Indian found his heaviest pair of boots and put them on, he took a few steps back, then ran toward the Pakistani and kicked as hard as he could in the balls. The Pakistani fell to the floor clutching his nuts howling in agony for 30 minutes.

Eventually the Pakistani stood up and said, "Now it's my turn to kick you."

The Indian said, "Keep the damn egg!"

An Indian calls up a pakistani black smith and asks
"Saliya hain?"
The pakistani replies: " Ha hain , Kyun"
Indian: " To apni gand mein dal le bhosadi ke and keeps laughing over the phone"
Pakistani is obviously irate and yells and slams the phone.

After some time the Indian calls back and says " Saliya hain?"

Pakistani this time says" Nahi"

Indian: " Kyun be gand mein dal diya kya and he keeps laughing "
Pakistani slams the phone again.

The third time the indian calls the Blacksmith decided I am gonna get back to him this time.

Indian :" Saliya hain"

Pakistani: " Hain bhi aur nahi bhi "
Indian : " Kyun be andar bahar kar raha hain kya "

:D:D:D

That's racist. I thought you were english anyway?

I'm Aussie mate, although I grew up in England, but calling me a Convict is no less racist than me telling the cnut to go make me mam a curry.
It makes me laugh these twats saying 'but in India, it's not racist to call a black man a monkey' but everywhere else it is, and they know that. They never called him a monkey for a term of endearment, did they?
feck him....

The Aussies have some nerve to complain about anyone saying anything at all to them on a cricket pitch

The Indians and Pakistanis can't take criticism or censure of any kind without going completely menstrual

IMHO, they're all bandars

You think what has happened so far is criticism? Have you not seen when they come home after not winning a WC. The media go crazy and people target the families homes amongst all the burning stuff. That's criticism.

The majority are bandars.

India have withdrawn their threat to quit the tour of Australia if an appeal against Harbhajan Singh's ban fails.

The spinner was suspended for three games for allegedly making a racist comment to Australian Andrew Symonds in the second Test in Sydney.

Harbhajan has denied making the comment and the appeal is due to take place before the third Test on 16 January.

"There's no question of it being called off," India cricket board president Sharad Pawar was quoted as saying.

BCCI board spokesman Rajiv Shukla quoted Pawar and said: "He (Pawar) said the two boards intend to maintain good relations as there is no problem with the two."

They should have. I have a good feeling they are going to get humiliated by the Aussies.

I think everyone does.

What happened to Indo-Paki bonds you French Algerian twat?
