I'm not Indian, but I don't think there have been better batsmen than Lara and Tendulkar over the past decade and a half. As for Viv, I think most people who have seen him play at his peak, agree that he's probably the best since Bradman. The problem with stats is that they don't show the whole picture. Anyone can show stats to back up their arguments. What next? Gilchrist is better than Richards because he's got a better average(I think he has, but you get the point). Tendulkar can play all over the park, his style very similar to Bradman's, a tad unorthodox with the way he closes the face of his bat.. In fact Bradman himself said that he's the only player he's seen the reminds him of himself.

I agree completely with that. From what I have seen of Richards on recorded matches, he was better than both Sachin and Lara. It's tough to choose between the last two but I would go with the former just for consistency.
Likes of Pointing and S.Waugh are not on the same level. Kallis is another one below.
