Didn't see a thread about this so here it is.

Good day for India on the whole though spoiled by a stubborn partnership in the end. Probably going to be low scoring game and batting last on a fifth day Kotla pitch is going to be a nightmare. Even so, if we can wrap things up under 250 and get a decent first innings lead, we should be favourites.

Looked at that and it seemed to be all about the one-dayers. There's usually a separate one for the real cricket.

Anyway, India's vaunted batting line-up seems to have committed mass suicide. This one's going to be really close.

I can see us edging it as the Indians will bat last on an already turning pitch.

Finely poised it could swing both ways yet but I think Pak are in the better position. Just need to bat a bit more get a decent total and bowl em' out last day - Misbah, Shoaib, and Kaneria are crucial to this theory I think.

Yeah hmm shouldn't have said anything yesterday, fell at the final hurdle.

Unless we come out tomorrow and get a double hat-trick.

Good win.
If you had someone to support Akhtar then may be you would have had a chance.

why was sami going fastmedium pace..hes a lot quicker than that??

He probably took it easy after just coming back into the team after injuries and being dropped plus the fact that quite often when he bowls fast it is very wayward with a lot of wides and that wouldn't help.

Shame, he normally is better against India than anybody else - he hasn't really improved since he came onto the scene which is quite weird and crap.

Shoaib and Misbah are facing a fight to be fit along with Malik but one tiny glimmer of hope is that Gul will be available again.

Pak have been poor so far so hopefully all the above play otherwise I can see a good whipping.

They best put up a good showing in this one it is pretty much the decider.

Sami was always crap.He has some good results against us purely because when he came on to the scene first he was quick and most of our batsmen are when hopeless when it comes to facing quicks....he seems to have added nothing to his armoury other than a weird shock of hair which is bronze and gold and black and brown.

Gul's return should help you no end...he's probably the best bowler in your side, better than the two druggies.Kaneria was a massive disappointment....poor line and a strange field setting from Malik didn't help.Very poor captaincy again in this Test. You have no leaders in this side of yours...makes things tougher for you.

Btw, Shoaib withstood some pretty solid Wind-ups from our lot at the Kotla...we were coming up with some pretty expletive riddled druggie chants out of boredom and he just smiled and waved...I don't think he understood actually...To our credit, after that show of immaturity we went back to Shoaib zindabad.

Yup Sami is exactly the same as he first came on the scene. I wouldn't have him in the first team when everyone is fit. I thought we would finally see an attack of Shoiab, Asif and Gul but it just isn't happening for one reason or another. One day.

I know, no real leaders, its been said before, that's why it was such a hard decision for the captaincy and now they are basically trying to build these youngsters up into the role. Not much you can do there. Younis was our best bet but he rejected the role.

I couldn't give a feck how you treat Shoaib he's a bit of a cnut but a hero in terms of his talent. He's pretty much on his last chance as well behaviour wise, well that's what they say, its blatantly obvious we still need him for the next few years for his cricket. I just hope he doesn't pollute the dressing room anymore than he has previously.

Oh and the next one is on Friday - the match starts 4 or 5 in the morning here.

A promising start and I get the feeling this is going to be a good series... both teams are pretty close. Not that either team is really any good.

If Pakistan could only get one more decent bowler bowling alongside Shoaib, it could be a real match. I suppose that India should be more or less at full strength with RP Singh and Sreesanth passing fitness tests. Its not a big improvement on Munaf but it is an improvement.

I'm looking forward to the next game. Tendulkar is in great touch and Dravid really looks like he has a point to prove.

Strange choice really. Came out of nowhere, has no experience as a coach of a national or even a county level side and his only experience as coaching is as South Africa's high performance manager or some equally vague thing. The committee's made an absolute shambles of the whole thing - announcing Graham Ford as the coach without finding out whether he really wanted it first was just one of the many goof-ups in the whole process.

Anyway, i'm sure he won't do too bad. At the very least, has a reputation of his own so won't be cowed easily by the big names in the team. Really needs to focus on fitness and fielding and force the BCCI to appoint a good bowling coach... not bloody Venkatesh Prasad.

I reckon being South African, there'll be emphasis on fielding, which can only be good for us

Gary Kirsten?

Are you fecking kidding me? Really, feck off.
They have taken six months to appoint a fecking noob.

He was a decent batsmen wasn't he?

You aren't alone in appointing a "noob" the Pak coach was the same although he did coach a side down under, mate.

Realistically, there aren't a lot of people who you'd want who'd actually take the job. Its a bit like the England national football coach position. A fair bit of money but the expectations and pressure are really ridiculous. Plus there's no decent local coaches you would trust.

There's really got to be some kind of program to develop local coaches. For example, I wouldn't be against appoint Chandrakant Pandit assistant coach to Kirsten. He's done a pretty good job at Mumbai, has a decent reputation and money-wise, it would be a step-up. More Indian coaches should find ways to go abroad and work as assistant coaches/ batting coaches etc. Long term, thats the only solution. The Indian national coach should be Indian.

Well... good start for India. Dravid, in great form, was apparently given out when there was no sign of an edge.

Jaffer's looking great though. A very good century. When batting in full flow, he really does look majestic. A proper opening batsman.

352/3 - Jaffer 192 and Ganguly at 17. End of days play. It pretty much looks like being a massacre. This is where Indian batsmen are at their best. Plundering a weak and tiring bowling attack on a good batting pitch. No one... not even Australia is as ruthless in such circumstances. To think there's still Laxman to come on his favourite pitch and Dhoni's been in good nick. You'd have to say they'll get to 550.

Pakistan is going to need a miracle to save this.

Wicked.

I never saw the match like but I can only see one winner.

Please rain. Please rain. Please rain. Please rain........ At least some of the injured players will be back next and last match so we can have a proper contest.

Jaffer has become the third highest run-getter in the world this year behind Jacques Kallis (1125) and Kevin Pietersen (881), with 718 to his name so far.

Kallis has got so many runs because they just toured Pak and he was bang on form there, the best batter by a mile getting quite a few big innings...

I reckon this will be a draw unless the pitch turns for the worst and Pak collapse. Its fair to say the batting is a lot stronger than the bowling department at the moment. Hopefully Butt uses his head and stays in for a long time along with Younis and Yousuf.

Misbah is the one batsmen that has been on form for a while. In the team on merit.

Butt makes it into 30's and gets out.
Younis n Yousuf are top batters but end up being part of our openers.
Malik can be ok at times helps if he can get in or forced to play with his head.

Anyone else can't be relied on consistently for shit at the moment - doesn't help with the injuries to the bowling which just puts the pressure on.

If Pak can make it past the follow on reckon its got a good chance of being a draw but the pitch will be the deciding factor to that.

I'm starting to really dislike this Misbah cnut. A lead of around 150 won't do us much good. A draw it is then.

160 it is then. There isn't too much hope of a result but i'd like to see India have a real go at it. Not much to lose. Throw the kitchen sink at them. 200 35 overs and declare. Bowl 5 overs at em today and Kumble and Harbhajan to do some marathon bowling tomorrow on a (hopefully!) crumbling pitch.

Indians.

Who's this bird then? She's short but sexy with a curvy body and big boobs.

Tell her Spoony wants to suck on her nipples. I think she'll love me.

Thats Ayesha Takia, I think. She's done the odd movie.

Looks out of proportion to me somehow. And the boobs are probably fake or stuffed with something anyway. Don't recall being particularly impressed with them when I saw her in her first movie.

Anyway, this match looks like definitely drifting towards a draw. The only hope was an all-out assault by India which hasn't materialised.
