India v England ODI series

The treatment of Pujara has been horrific. He should be getting a chance. Rahane dropped and Rohit is picked in

Rohit I guess. He's done it before.

They should have stuck with Rahane for the entire series. He is a technically correct batsman, who we should develop. He is dropped while the Rohit Sharma experiment continues. The mind boggles.

Some English County should sign Kumar. Seems ideally suited to English conditions.

No way to treat a player who is a potential long-term fixture in the team.

Players like that should be given long ropes.

And he's failed only in 2 innings. He played well in the first ODI.

Creating insecurity's not going to breed good players.

I'm hoping Rohit surprises us today, though. He hasn't opened before in ODIs, if I'm recalling correctly.

He opened and did decently in the T20 WC in England.

Opened 3 times in ODI's for combined total of 29 runs with a highest of 23.

At One Down: 8 innings for 102 runs, highest - 26.

Overall 87 matches - 1978 runs@30.43, SR: 78

No one in the history of Indian cricket has had as many chances as him.

Let's hope the lazy fecker makes this one count.

Some English County should sign Kumar. Seems ideally suited to English conditions.

That should help him in his development. Will also get chances to bowl in the later overs.

Though, I don't know if our busy schedule + IPL will allow that.

Horrible decision for Cook to get. Ashwin was bowling pathetically before that too.

Ishant Sharma has bowled amazingly today.

I read that the pitch and conditions are more English than Indian. That should mean that we would fold up around 150. :)

A career made on the English County circuit.

Not his international career. ;)

India must be the favorite tour for any new or out of form batsmen. Our pitches are flat and bowling is shit. We are great confidence builders for batsman worldwide.

Class from Rohit.

I hope he keeps this on. My favourite Indian player to watch at the moment.. except there's very little watching to do in the past 12 months

Makes me angry when I see him play like that. Such a classy bastard. Hopefully makes use of this chance.

Interestingly, Yuvraj Singh, who I would say is one of India's best ever limited overs player, had less runs than Rohit did after his 87th match -- that's how many matches Rohit has played.

Mohammed Kaif had scored 200 less runs.

Ugh, awful decision to get Rohit Sharma out. Unlucky end to a class innings.

That guy lacks temperament. Seriously.

Agreed.

I think Rohit is at his best when he doesn't scoreboard pressure. In T20s, he just has to turn up and smack it around and there's not a lot of time to think and he does exceedingly well in that format.

In first-class cricket, no pressure of going after runs and his first-class average is almost 60.

Perhaps opening in ODIs is the place for him, where he can dictate the pace of the game without having to worry about the scoreboard.

The worst thing about his career is that he is repeatedly picked for the ODI teams on the basis of his Ranji performance and dropped from the Indian test squad on the basis of his ODI peformances. I think the selectors have been terrible with regards to that.

Code:
Players	Mat	Runs	HS	Bat Avg	100	Wkts	Best Bowling	Bowl Avg
Yuvraj Singh 63 1334 98* 27.79 0 22 4 for 6 32.86
Ravindra Jadeja 63 968 78 29.33 0 66 4 for 32 35.25

With regards to comparison with Yuvi. Here's how Jadeja compares to him.

Awful decision.

I thought Cook was out at least in real time, but this looked clearly not out.

Wouldn't have minded to see that wicket go actually.

Want to see what Jadeja's made of as a batsman in crunch situations.

England let down by the bowling this time. We perhaps should have got more runs and yet another rubbish umpiring decision didn't help. Dernbach needs to be dropped, his economy rate is dreadful. I thought Meaker would have got a game so he surely must start the next fixture. Hales needs to be brought in for Bell as well at the top of the order. Patel's position should also be under question, England lack some good all rounders at the moment but he doesn't seem to be performing and an innings here and here simply is not good enough however the lack of options is also a problem.

I know England are resting some players but surely it would have been better to include them in the squad and rotate the squad. This way you get a consistent squad with a change here and there for a player who is performing well e.g Root. By leaving them out altogether we are lacking consistency going into the World Cup.

This is like a preview for the next WC.

Yuvraj, not a #4.

Pujara should've gotten an opportunity today.

Well played England today, showed they can play well. Glad Dernbach didn't play. Woakes has great potential, plays well at county level. Should be good series in NZ, with them beating SA. Yuvraj is struggling, he has to be dropped soon surely?
