India V Australia,Tests

To tell the truth im not so bothered about sachin anymore because i believe hes a class player and will come out of this all guns blazing..........what im worried about is indias bowling personally i feel indias lineup should be summat like this....

Sehwag(superb form)
Chopra(excellent temperament)
Dravid(do i need to say anything??)
Tendulkar(a god,the rest are mere mortals)
Ganguly(hmmmm......)
Laxman(class)
Patel
Agarkar(definitely needs to prove that he was takien into the team as an allrounder, his wife praying her guts out isnt going to make him one!)
Kumble(should really do well in sydney, hes class.just need thirty odd runs from him)
Kartik/Nehra(wouldnt got with him,has been struggling throughout.definitely hasnt recovered)
Pathan(looks a good prospect)

What do you all think?

Only players I rate from the Indian side are:

Tendulkar(out of form though)
Dravid (not great to watch..but a battler)
Sehwag (Sachin mark two)

Three top drawer batsmen..

Bowling is average at best. India's never had a genuine FAST bowler, which is why you'll always struggle to bowl teams out, especially away from home, on pitches which are not doctored for spin.

TBH.. India has the potential to be an excellent one day side.... but I don't think they've got the quality in their bowling to become a great Test team.

Yes,india never really had a fast bowler*.Kapil dev and srinath came close but i hardly rate them as quick bowlers but they were great in their own right.
A point which i wanted to bring out in my last post but with time constraints i was forced to cut it short....India have struggled against south africa and australia in the past because of their incompetence to handle genuine pace but there is a fresh lot of youngsters** coming out through our domestic brigade so alls not gloomy :D

Well,i wont disagree with you that india may have served up dustbowls in the past but nowadays its hardly likely that you would find a spinners paradise anywhere with the exceptions,of course....
You want dustbowls, look at sri lanka they doctor their pitches to suit their murali so that he becomes virtually unplayable.

*amar singh was a genuine quick from the 1933 team under CK Nayadu.he earned the appreciation of douglas jardine and he is reported to have said"he is as quick as i have seen them..".Mr Larwood was there at that time in his team

**You will probably soon be hearing of the following
Munaf patel-fastest in india at the moment.dennis lillee said that he regularly clocked aroung 150 km/h in nets.
rakesh patel-140/150
irfan pathan-already here

Well if Munaf can bowl that fast he should get a look in...

Kapil was a good bowler... however, I was never really a fan of his.

Sri Lanka..seem to struggle to produce genuine speedsters n'all. I think England's got the same problem, perhaps something to do with the seaming wickets... I think the last decent English team was when Botham and Willis were at their pomp.. West Indies (Marshall, Garner, Croft, Holding, Ambrose, Patterson, Bishop, Roberts etc etc bloody hell!! ) have produce the most... seems like Pakistan, have produced the best over the last few years..(Imran, Younis, Akram..currently they've got Shoaib and Sami who are lightening, all genuinely quick.. no doubt there's more on the way) ...Australia (thommo, lillee (altho Liliee wasn't known for his speed) gillespie and lee.. I wouldn't class McGrath as fast) New Zealands had a couple (morrison...and currently they've got Bond who seems sharp) SA have had some decent quicks n'all... Donald, Ntini... altho' Pollack like McGrath is hardly genuine...)

I think it's no coincidence, that teams with genuine fast bowlers are more likely to bowl the opposition out twice in a test match...

India(as you've pointed out) like Sri Lanka suffer on fast bouncy tracks... none's faster than Perth.... and I think Durban.(?)

Love fast bowling... it's a joy to watch someone who can bowl 100mph...hurl a delivery at a batsman....... suppose it's why I was a fan of West Indian cricket in the early 80's.

steve waugh steve waugh steve waughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

oh yeh we'll be 284+284=568runs :D
sachin, well played well, over cautious for me but understandable.lee's "yorker" was just a mistake in judgement by chopra. :wenger:

feckinggg hell!!!!...sachin is back!!..what a start to the new year for teh legend... :smirk: he battled he grinded but hes back...when it matters.. what a day...650/5...and that should hopefully mean that whatever happens the BORDER-GAVASKAR trophy stays with india....

id also like to mention that all the hype over hayden and ponting is all
justified..theyv been playing fantastically well..but only fort he last year and a half..lets see them do it for 6 to 8 years consistantly then wel talk about them in the same breath as sachin....

As for now its a great day for indian cricket...an indian team has actually gone to australia and matched it with the best..and i dont want to fecking hear one more word about "ooh were missing mcgrath and warne"...well wev been missing our 2 best bowlers as well...zaheer and harbhajan...and now nehra as well...
and im really really sick of "steve waughs farewell tour"..its geting on my nerves...this is india V australia..a test series between two of the best NOT a seies specially made for steve...

fair play - that was the greatest display of batting i have ever seen. most at the ground were just in awe. simplu stunning.

i dont think anyone is saying haydos or ponting are better than sachin. rather at the moment they are playing better ;)

i know u didnt wanna hear a word about mcgrath and warne, but to compare missing those 2 with missing the turbanator and zaheer is nonsense. the aussie 2 are 2 of the greatest bowlers of all time, and any team that misses them will struggle.

stuart macgill - please feck off

s.o.s warney

i think aus and india are by far the 2 best teams in the world. if indians played for the win i think they could lay claim for the number 1 title. why so fecking defensive? play to win boys.

and why dont they lift their game for everyone else ? if they played like this they should easily win series away from home. its a bit like aus are united and india lift their game accordingly.

tomorrow should be good, hopefully we smack the indian bowlers for a few, steve might finally get to bat :)

Is it true the Aussie fans really booed their team off the pitch ? Talk about gloryhunters...Buchanan's strategy of publically humilating the team after the last test is obviously working

the only booeing was of macgill cause nobody likes him - even here in our own state. but that only lasted a couple of minutes.

the humiliation occured b4 last test, it worked ok there ;)

Sachin Tendulkar. What a bloody legend. 241 not out.

India 7 dec/705. It's times like these I feel proud to be curry.

Yes I know mjdj, they killed the match, but who cares! "Roll on a boring draw"! They still get to take home the trophy, and in the process have broken about 853 records!

Yeah i was there too, got goosebumps when aussies made the guard of honour for steve, probably get ticks for day 4 and 5 so i can send him off in grand style

------------------------------------------------------
the fact is that our three bowlers are as important to us as warne and mcgrath are to you..and lets not count warne..he always gets a wipping from india...were playing bowlers who have hardly played test cricket...

defensive??..dont think so..we scored 150 in the last session at 5 an over..we just wanted to bat you out of the game and atleast ensure we dont lose... so we KEEP the border gavaskar trophy and more importantly dont have to bat 3rd in the match...thats very important..
and aus 350 odd for 6 theres a chance of victory..

and lastly its not as if we lift our game against australia...its just that i think wev found our missing 'links' in this series..earlier in all the tours before it was sachin saurav and dravid..and sometimes sehwag... now after being dropped laxman has become the complete package and is up there with those three...and solved the biggest problem in indian cricket...a good opening pair..so i think in this eries our batting lineup has been perfected(Almost)...
we came close to winning series in england(1-1) and west indies(2-1)..but on this tour..not only is the performance oft he team important but wev found the things that were missing before...

im off to the ground a lil late.

rumour has it aus are going for victory

india enforce follow on, aus set a target of 200 from the last 2 sessions for india to win there series.

should be exciting :D
we aint gonna go out with a draw, wa wanna win!!!!!!!

im off to get blind at the cricket

SHIT!

As soon as I said that, Ganguly declared!! Wanker. What happened to letting Sachin bat all 5 days?

well well well......

indians want the win it seems, and u can bet your house that australia will go for it aswell.

433 to win, 10 wickets in hand, hayden, ponting, gilchrist can all throw the bat. 5 an over

once again these 2 teams produce a belter of a test series - now get in there tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Solskjaer_ said:
Ahh..do ya reckon I should go tomorrow?

if you dont bring a horn like the indian near me today, then definitely come to watch ur boys go down :nervous:

Well...i kind of had a feeling that australia wouldnt go for it,the little cnuts, but anyways great series, one of the best since the 2001 one.
Anil Kumble is the man of the moment, hes just awesome..12 wickets in the match and that too in ozzie land.amazing, brilliant simply astounding.
a series marked by individual performances but india looked to have the champs on the mat a no. of times.I think tht even australians would agree that India dominated through and through.
Bring on the VB Series!!

great finale to a fantastic test series and the career of one of the greats...the ending was really nice and the spirit in which it was played was excellent...everyone..sachin sarav and rahul paying tribute to waugh....
This is probabally what cricket needed..especially test cricket..i think the india aus series in india was the last close series...and this one was of the highest quality..if there was one thing missing it was the mian strike bolwers from each attack--mcgrath warne from aus and zaheer and harbhajan for india...and i think harbhajan and kumble bowling together on the 4th and 5th day would be unbelievable...
But overall i think most aussies would have to agree that india were on the whole the better team...and really let the aussies back in the way they played on the second morning at melbourne... BUt in the end india do keep the border gavskar trophy and to keep it over the last 2 series agaisnt the wc winners is a big achievement..i have a feeling this may turn out to be one of the great rivalries in cricket and the border-gavaskar trophy make take a higher importance in the future

Sachin, player of the match; Dravid, player of the series.
And Patel was excellent too. He'll become bigger than Tendulkar. How cool was Patel's (accidental) stumping of Gilchrist?

During the presentation, did anyone else hear the short, round, white-haired guy (no, not Steve Waugh, the other one) say "And Steve Waugh will not be forgiven"?

Just got home from one of the best days i've ever experienced, the cricket was great and Steve Waughs innings was brilliant. If it wasn't for that little shit Sachin on the fence he would have hot his hundred. Awesome way to send a great Australian hero off, i had tears in my eyes as they had him on their shoulders and he waved goodbye.

Well done to India on a great series. They really showed they're batting lineup is formidable and though with McGrath and Warne it would have been tighter i think the Indians were in such great form the series would still have ended in a draw. Cant wait to take you guys on over there later this year.

But for now, heres to a great Australian and an awesome cricketer!

great post. there wasnt a dry eye in the ground. kin sachin

ill never forget today, so proud of the aussie boys, and proud to be australian. stevey will be aus of the year.

i think that we are by far the best 2 teams in the world and there is literally nothing between the two teams.

aussies were going to go for it but lost to many wickets, kumble is a freak.

bring in clarkey!!!!!

Sachin is bloody legendary, mjdj.
aye - not going to disagree with that one.

just dont start preaching sehwag or ganguly is :nono:

Ok, how bout Patel? Man, that guy's gonne become bigger than Sachin himself!

Dravid?? Am I allowed to sing the praises of Dravid?

dravid is a boring bastard, but a bloody good player.

patel :drunk: i can catch better than him, alrite he is only 18 but I could keep better than him!!!!!!

Solskjaer_ said:
And how old are you?

He stumped Gilchrist by accident!

to be honest, patel has a long way to go...and he needs a break..to improve his keeping..hes been terrible in the last few months..missing crutial chances that have affected results and we cant keep on giving him a chance.. whats the use of having a specialist keeper if he cant stump,catch.etc..then rather have dravid... his miss of ponting was dreadful and he almost missed the gillcrist one too.. bigger than sachin??..WTF??....

Dravid, boring? did you not see him play at sydney 2nd innings?but anyways far too many questions flying around what with patel being labelled the "next tendulkar"!WTF is that about?i would have preferred dinesh karthik or ajay ratra even though patel is good,he needs a few years and many practice sessions to improve.looks a bloody good batsman thogh.
DEEP DASGUPTA IS SHITE.

We? I think India should try winning consistently against teams other than Australia for them to be second or best.

India played for the draw which was a bit disappointing from an Aussie perspective.

However, despite India playing well it was a distinctly sub-par Aussie bowling performance that prevented SW from retiring in style. Shame that a few of the best Aussie bowlers were absent IMO
