India tour of South Africa.

70/2 at Lunch.

Would've taken it anyday.

We've played well overall. Let's hope we can build on this post lunch.

Surprised to see Kohli 'only' averaging 42 in tests.

As an outside observer, i;ve always assumed that he'd go on to be one of the top batsmen in world cricket, so surely that average will rocket up?

Hah!

So Zing's boy goes after an idiotic shot on a bad ball. While Kohli who is supposedly a flat track bully is going strong.

Tahir is shite, done nothing but release pressure that's been built up by the quicks.

Kohli's been brilliant (the run out aside). His technique has always been good but I am surprised with the patience he has shown in leaving as many balls as he did. Fantastic to watch

Kohli's patience has been excellent. I thought Pujara was also playing well.

Not being a cnut, but all of our dismissals has been due to our batsman's fault rather than anything special by the bowlers. Sharma and Dhawan's dismissals were fecking infuriating.

That is a brave shot! New ball and drives well away from off stump.

Tremendous day. In context of the bowling we have, though, not too sure.

Another 100 runs from Rahane + Dhoni + Ashwin would be great.

Liked the way Rahane batted. Caught the last 7 overs.

A good performance by India, showed a lot of fight. Just saw last 35 or so overs, there didn't look like much assistance for bowlers. Once players get in and spend some time, it is good pitch to bat on. On last 2 days it will probably help bowlers more, so it is important India push towards 350 in this innings.

SA got too carried away with the short stuff. Playing Tahir was also a wrong decision. He is a great pressure reliever for India.

Kohli gets too much unwarranted stick, mainly because of his attitude on the pitch that seems to be rub some the wrong way. Those who think likes of Sharma are better than him, make the mistake of thinking that sports are played on paper. He is still not there yet and will go through some tough learning curves (even likes of Dravid failed in their first overseas tours to many places) but will come good in the end.

Our main problem this tour is the opening pair. Dhawan is a slogger who should be no where near the test team. Vijay is just not good enough.

Was laughing earlier when it was said that Virat is a flat track bully or has got it all to prove. Crappy is right, people underrate him due to the fact that he's got loads of attitude. He's just a world class batsman these days. Today's innings was excellent.

I've said that all along on this forum. He's brilliant and his technique is top notch. Pujara is also good but he's not going to take the game away from you like Kohli can. Still think though despite his knock today his patience needs improvement even in one-dayers. Doesn't need to play as many shots as he does.

Nothing new for India. This tendency has been there for ages. So many matches to give example of.

This isn't surprising. That tail is not going to give us more than 20 runs in SA.

Not so against the run of play to see just two wickets(dhoni, rahane) fall.

FFS How lucky has been Smith in this innings.

Ever since I've said that, one chinese cut and one outside edge has gone for four with his bat. We've bowled really well, no fecking luck.

Smith and Amla are really struggling at the moment, no rhythm what so ever. Indian Bowlers are really unlucky atm, they should've at least gotten another wicket today.

Kohli was fantastic yesterday, his talent has always been obvious. Remember seeing him at the U19 world cup and his stroke production, technique and compactness at the wicket was always impressive.

I don't think anyone of Kohli's 5 centuries have ever 'taken the game away' from anyone in Tests.

Simply has not converted a century into a game defining 150-200, those sort of massive hundreds that define the game.

His justification for his 119 today was 'if you're not going to play your shots when you've scored 120 when are you?' which I think is just the wrong attitude.

Clearly got the talent, just needs to sort it between the ears.

I was talking about this rate of scoring rather than the number of runs. Makes it very difficult for the fielding captain where as Pujara, although he played well went nowhere with his knock.

Just came in and seen the score. Can't see us coming back from this situation. Expect Amla to pile on the runs

Strike rate is 47.

Pujura's is 53.

One notable stat. Ishant Sharma has become the first player in test history to play 50 tests without either scoring 500 runs or taking 150 wickets.

This takes me back to the young Ishant who looked like an absolute stud(remember the aus tour), what went wrong?

Who knows. I have accepted that every Indian bowler who looks promising eventually turns to shite.

Get in!
