India politics thread

Spooky that this comes just days after the 'beefy' exchange between @fishfingers15 and @redsunited
Beefy exchange? Far from it. The other poster thought I will take it as a big offense like the islamists when asked to eat pork.
Seems you don't understand different parts of India. In my state no one cares if someone eats beef. In the state where that dumb politician is from, it is a big deal.

If you are a leftist/Congress sympathiser then as it panders to your view, you will think like that.

Every news outlet portrays the half truths as truth based on their agenda. No channel do spoon feed the proper news as it defeats the whole purpose of those who funding them. Read news from both sides and read between the lines to understand it better.

It's as similar to standing with one foot in a hot oven and the other foot in a fridge and imagining things are good.

I will not even take these Bollywood artists seriously. Her movie is releasing in 2 days and she has played a masterstroke here, did the same with padmavat and now this. They could care.little about this situation but care more about their movies getting some buzz and making some money. Feck them.

Any bit of support helps.

I wouldn't take people with agendas seriously, especially people from the Bollywood industry who flip flop so easily. Today they are in support of this and tomorrow they will support NRC.

I can guarantee you would not have seen deepika here if her movie was not releasing. She is smart as she knows this will give her movie some buzz (which she is already getting now). I am all for people having opinions but please do it for the greater cause and not because it suits your agenda.

I don't know her well enough to judge her intentions either way. But even if it is selfish, the cause has to also be selfish and accept any help /support it can get. And while I completely understand people being scared to speak up, I do wish more major personalities had the balls to do so. It has to be noted that these people also have plenty to lose. Not Deepika as she merely visited and consoled. But someone like Anurag Kashyab who whole heartedly speaks his mind does so knowing that he's going to be in the bad books of many powerful people and their goons. So fair play there.

There is no point gatekeeping on this subject. Need everyone to on one side of the fence to be united to have a chance of succeeding. Shes a big name and turned up and turned a few heads. Good on her! Need everyone in whatever capacity they can

Which actually tells you that she has a lot to lose.

What? If anything she'll lose money because of this, boycotting her movie is trending on Twitter. You might not be affected by it but Celebs have a lot of influence on our society, whether its endorsements or supporting causes. The likes of Anuragh Kashyap and Swara Bhasakar have done more than the opposition parties thats for sure. She joins the list of being one of the good guys in Bollywood for me (feck the spineless Khans)
Never understood why people get their knickers in a twist when actors use their fame to raise awareness and try to make the world a better place.

Wtf? The same swara bhaskar who goes to pakistan one week and praises them and then before her movie was about to be released starts bashing them. The same Swara Baskar who one week starts bashing Modi govt and then the next time clicks a selfie with Modi and says something in the lines of Modi govt is the way forward and we should all trust in them. The same Swara Baskar who starts criticizing CAA and when asked by a media person what particularly you don't like with the bill just starts yapping bs and made a fool out of herself. She is a parody act who should not be taken seriously. What next we will start taking the likes of arjun kapoor, sonam kapoor seriously? People who have half baked knowledge and just show up to get some popularity. You may like and respect such people, I don't.

As for deepika, yes she showed more spine but this was a strategic move. Her movie hardly had any buzz and she played a masterstroke here. She has been trending and the likes of anurag kashyap and barka dutt are openly promoting her movie now. She may have lost some support but she has gained more.

I don't mind people taking sides. What happened in delhi was a stupid act by delhi police. So supporting the injured people makes sense but don't show up according to your convinence. Deepika was in delhi to promote her movie and she got a golden chance to promote it like this so smart of her.

tbf, our lovely PM did exactly the same not too long ago. Funny how one actor is held at a pedestal while the other isn't.

She was also threatened by the lovely Karni Sena too. Imagine dealing with a threat to life and then coming out to stand with a victim of a similar sena.

Meanwhile Delhi police still twiddling thumbs while waiting for Goebbels instructions.

Kya chutiya log ho. Instead of banding together, people are arguing who deserves to be considered a true protestor and which one a fake one? This isn't a top red debate.

Swara Bhaskar has more guts than anyone here. The kind of abuse she deals with, including threats and yet continues to put up a brave front to the nonsense needs to be commended.

Ashrk is a bjp supporter though yes? Makes sense for him to say that
