In hindsight, Mourinho was right about a few things?

I've always had it down as a blue arsed fly, have I been saying it wrong?
Seeing your reply, it explains why my comment got copied into the jokes thread by a scout  . Then again, Google says I'm right. I think we're both right.

Mourinho set the right culture in the dressing room, then.
No, he had his own brand of toxicity, he fought with and publicly alienated his own players.
Ole's brand was the opposite, pussyfooted around everyone and cuddled them.
ETH's was favouritism and lack of a clear direction.

He was right, but like everyone else he could see the problems but didn't have the solutions.

So, nothing special really. All talk.

Post Ferguson, anyone who thinks it’s just the Manager who’s to blame hasn’t been paying attention.

United used to be a football club, now they’re a merchandising juggernaut that also happens to own a team.

Of course he was… and “everyone else“ was on here bitching about Jose even though he was spot on about Pogba, Shaw, Martial etc but chubby cheeks deemed these essential to our profile and investors. Still haven’t got rid of them.
Another manager hung out to dry by these utter leeches.

No, he was still just a busted flush manger more than halfway down the toilet. Stop bumping this thread.

I knew this shite thread would kick into gear again after the Rashford comments.

He wasn't really hung out to dry. He simply didn't have the solutions even after 2+ years. We clearly have big problems in the culture, and it will take a genuinely novel and out of the box idea to fix it.

Mourinho is a gambler that doesn't play with his own money and is extremely angry, because somehow he always gets cut off right before hitting the massive jackpot that would have totally fixed it.
If only he was allowed to get rid of more cancerous players (ignore that he wanted them in the first place) and spend big on Perisic or Maguire, all the problems would be fixed and United would have won a treble in every season since.

Mourinho is an old fox. He's been around for enough time to notice what was wrong at the club and he certainly has enough cojones to spell things out. Unfortunately his tactics are obsolete and that's quite evident at this point in time.

All managers have said broadly the same stuff. You can point the finger at all of them for different stuff and all have been right about different things but Moyes really exacerbated the problem by clearing out the backroom staff. We went from a team of proven winners to essentially Everton’s backroom team and manger in a season.

It's amazing how being as cryptic as possible can achieve. The man loved Rashford but he was right about Rashford being unprofessional. The Shaw exemple is also amazing, he basically called Shaw dumb which unless you are moron is obviously wrong, Shaw is an excellent defender and a smart player, he is just injury prone which has nothing to do with what Mourinho was yapping about. Mourinho was apparently right about Pogba, the same player he was gushing about, the same player that lengthened his career at United alongside Martial and Shaw, on the case of Martial, that's the player that kept forcing himself into the first team in place of Rashford who again was a favorite of Mourinho.

Now should we talk about his passion for Matic, Lukaku, Lingard and a bunch of other feckless players who were nowhere to be found during the last months of Mourinho at United, was the old fox right in hindsight? Mourinho was 99% wrong about what he said or did at United.

I also I want to point the finger at something. Pogba, Martial and Shaw declines were almost entirely due to injuries. The players that let him down Matic, Lingard, Lukaku, Sanchez and other largely had attitude issues everywhere else.

This.

People have somehow forgotten the gutting of winners to replace them with Moyes people and all those pathetic interviews he did claiming we should be more like City.

Mourinho was right about some things as it happens when you yap about everything, wrong about plenty more things. Still the most toxic manager we’ve ever had and had to go when he did. Ole was a breath of fresh air by comparison.
