Imagine we actually bought nobody - How would you line up?

Some of the lineups here are nightmare fuel
Though I doubt I've could come up with something better maybe go:
Ddg
Dalot Varane Harry shaw
Mcfred
Donny
Bruno Sancho
Ronaldo

I don't have any idea how our youngsters are going to perform.

DeGea
Wan Bissaka Maguire Varane Shaw

Fred McTominay
Bruno

Rashford Ronaldo Sancho

Ronaldo
Elanga - Bruno - Sancho
Fred - VDB
Shaw - Maguire - Varane - Dalot
De Gea
Pretty much the only viable team we could field under ETH from our current options IMO, and still not good enough to finish higher than sixth.

—————Ronaldo——Rashford————
Elanga —- Bruno -—Garner——Sancho
Shaw - Lindelof ——Varane - ——Dalot
————————De Gea————————-

and we would get pummeled. No McFred, no Maguire. Sancho and Elanga as quasi wingers, garner and Bruno attempting to hold onto the ball, Rashford making decoy runs for Ronaldo to score.

DDG
Laird Varane Bailly Shaw
Garner
VDB Fred
Amad Ronaldo Sancho
Toss up between Bruno and VDB, VDB is more of a team player in midfield so he edges it, especially with Ronaldo as striker.
"He (Van de Beek) edges it" against Bruno hahahahahhahahahah

Bruno was a bit shit last season but the idea that Van de Beek starts ahead of him is delusional.

Anyway, probably something like:
De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay (just stay in front of the defence nothing more), Fred (#8), Bruno; Sancho, Cris, Elanga.

Not amazing but better than anything with Van de Beek in.

I would rather that than panic buy randomers.

No signings = lowest possible expectation = give loads of kids a run, see some rise, others fail, also see current first teamers graft or arse it (again).

Then make some tweaks in January and have a great window next Summer.

I'd take that. Would also be fun watching the meltdowns here.

If we were committed to starting slow or spending little money the move would still be to buy a few cheaper young players that Ten Hag likes, particularly at LCB and DM.

Sancho/Garnacho--------Rashford/Martial----------Amad/Pellistri
----------------------------VDB/Fred-----Bruno/Hannibal------------------------
-----------------------------------------DM/Garner---------------------------------------
Shaw/Alvaro---LCB/Lindelof-------Varane/Maguire----Dalot/Laird
----------------------------------------De Gea/GK----------------------------------------

Everyone would freak out and we'd never make CL, but plug Lisandro and a young DM in and we'd probably finish 10th but play decent stuff and have a sense of how to move forward.

Though basically this is what we'll probably actually do, just add in De Jong, presumably an LCB, a fullback and either a RW or a 9.

If this were to play out that we signed nobody in real life it would be a complete nightmare. Since this is just for fun I'll throw in a couple of youth players to mix it up a bit:

De Gea

Laird
Varane
Lindelof (Bailly)
Shaw (Fernandez)

Fred (Garner)
VDB

Amad (Garnacho)
Bruno (Mejbri)
Sancho (Elanga)

Ronaldo

DDG
Laird Varane Bailly Shaw
Garner
VDB Fred
Amad Ronaldo Sancho
Toss up between Bruno and VDB, VDB is more of a team player in midfield so he edges it, especially with Ronaldo as striker.

That's pretty fair. My only change would be Dalot for Laird

Sancho------Ronaldo-------Amad
--------------------Bruno-----------------
-------------Fred---------Garner-------
Shaw----Jones*---Varane---Laird
----------------------DDG-------------------

* For however long he stays fit.

I'd take that. That and FDJ and I'm biting your hand off. All I hope for is we start getting into some sort of groove/style with players that can crack on down that path for 5/6-10 years.

At that point I don't think I'd have a strong opinion on the matter. It would be possibly the biggest transfer window shit show so far, with the summer of 2020 being the only window to come close.

I guess DDG, Varane, Fred, Bruno, Sancho and Ronaldo should start. The remaining 5 will all be far from United quality in my opinion, so it's a matter of picking your poison.

Lindelöf vs Maguire
Shaw vs Telles
AWB vs Dalot
McTominay vs Donny
Rashford vs Elanga

It's a rather depressing set of match-ups that doesn't bode well for our starting eleven, nor our bench. Ideally we need to sign 5 or 6 players, with at least half of them being starters.
