If one has to go from Mata, Martial, or Blind, which one?

Blind or Mata simply not good enough for different reasons, if we have to get shut of anyone. Give Martial another year, and see how he performs

Mata. But why stop at these players? Next: make a thread on if one has to go from Herrera, Bailly, Mkhi and Rashford.

3players in 3 different positions and we need to get rid of one? dont understand the logic.

Strange choice of players. Hope none of them will go.

If I had to choose then Blind. But we would be weaker in the rotation.

Just been a tit, clearly these are three players who if were sold then it wouldn't be a massive surprise, but would evoke a reaction/annoy people, any Bailly, Miki, and Rashofrd been sold would be a seismic shock.

Mata is the perfect squad player for a top team.. Technically brilliant and can add another dynamic when needed.

Would hope we wouldn't sell any of them, especiallly given there are several players we could happily lose first.

Of the three though, Blind obviously.

I feel it's a justified thread based on last seasons performances/Jose's perceived opinion on these players, and I do not have a short memory on Martial, of the three I'd keep him first, but imo Jose may not.

Maybe as I do with treads I think are pointless it's best you just ignore.
Then what about Lingard or Jones?

Blind is useful, Martial is too youn so Mata for me

He wouldnt make it in the first team for Madrid, Barca, Juventus, Bayern, so why is he good enough for us? It kills me when he starts on the right and his lack of pace just exposes him
Blind is slower than Mata, and Blind's lack of pace exposes him in both attack and defense just as much, if not more, than Mata.

thread of the year

Blind only because if it had to be one of them 3 I think he's the less needed.

I always find it baffling that people want to sell/discuss selling players who are actually useful and posses quality. Why on earth would we sell any of them? We wouldn't get more than 20-30m pounds for any of them, and you can't find decent player these days anywhere below 30-40m.

None of them. Blind will obviously get the most votes because he's the least popular but he has proven fair too useful in multiple positions to consider selling.

Martial has the talent, Blind can play literally anywhere so probably Mata.

I think all three have a part to play for United next season and beyond.

Blind simply because I think we have the most cover in defence. Otherwise Mata, as I just think he doesn't fit into Jose's plans or we're likely to have someone better than him in his position.

An odd hypothetical, but of the three it seems like I've said "Fecking hell Blind, what are you doing??" far more than the other two.

He was better towards the end of the season at CB but I think the other two bring much more to the table.

Martial. Terrible attitude/work rate and questionable understanding of his position/s. Although talented he's unremarkable and I struggle to see in him what others here do.

I'd also go for this and as he'd be the one who would fetch the highest fee ?

Some Martial rumors floating around that the club has been sending out feelers to either loan him out or sell him altogether, which seems very premature. With the way Jose has spoken up specifically about Martial last season, it doesn't seem like he's very interested in developing Martial. It's been a known issue with Tony that he is not the most dedicated on the training pitch, and with his off-the-field issues that's kind of taken a mental toll on him, I could see him being actually the first to leave before the other two, regardless of potential (which he has plenty of).

None of those 3 are being sold. Not a chance, unless we signed direct replacements for them.

they are all very important

Mata was probably our most creative player last year

Blind will be important at left back in particular given how Shaw isn't guaranteed to be a dependable option there - also with Rojo out and Jones/Smalling injury record he could be needed there

Martial is probably our best option on the left despite his relatively poor season last year

if we are taking about selling anyone surely we are talking Young, possibly one of Smalling/Jones

1. Martial
I'm unsure if he has what it takes to be a success in United in addition to not being clinical enough in front of goal to be a main striker and not creative nor good enough distribution/crossing to be a winger. He is somewhere in between, and Mourinho prefers specialists. I simply do not believe he has what Mourinho wants in a winger.

2. Mata
Getting older. If we want any money for him, then now is the time to cash in. Nice guy and a smart player, but lacks pace and tempo for a top team.

3. Blind
Very smart player that is unappreciated. Valuable cover for many positions. He's not going anywhere. Players like Blind provides the necessary squad depth to win titles.

Jose has a low opinion on Mata? A guy he fielded in the EL final despite lacking match sharpness?

Mata is our most experienced player after Carrick. He's also one of our best players.

Blind is not a starter but he's the kind of player that I feel is very important for a squad to have as he can slot into many different positions when needed as well as offering something different when we're rotating. Against teams where we are attacking most of the game I prefer him in defense.

Martial looked a huge prospect and still is but he's also just that, a prospect. He's not got a proven mentality unlike the other two so I'd pick him out of the three simply for being more of an unknown factor. That being said I wouldn't want to lose any of them.

It's like asking who I'd rather kick out of bed from Beyonce, Elizabeth Hurley or Theresa May.

Obviously Blind.

Depends how Mourinho feels about Martial. If he's not in his plans then he's only going to significantly depreciate in value after another year on the sidelines, whereas now we should at least be able to break even on him. He's easily one of the most talented players in the squad and it'd be a shame to lost him, but it'd be even worse to let him fade away before selling him next summer. For all sorts of reasons.

Mata might be dispensable come January but until we rectify our conversion of chances rate I can't see him going anywhere. He's probably our most likely goal scorer in a game until we see how quickly Lukaku settles. If Rashford and Mata were in the starting eleven my money would probably be on Mata to get on the scoresheet ahead of Rashford. I think Jose has come to rely on him too much to discard him.

Unless we're bringing Perišić and another wing-forward, no sense whatsoever in selling Martial.

To me these are three players who are clearly very talented, but that Jose just isn't that sure about, they are also only a handful of players that we have potentially available who could generate a decent fee (other than Smalling), but they also all seem to be fans favourites (unlike Smalling), so if one has to go, which one?

Dont agree with the 3 selected but unfortunately the defender, in this case Blind would be the one to go as we need as many attacking options as we can get.

None of these three is going anywhere this summer. Just because Jose doesn't play someone all the time doesn't mean he doesn't rate or trust them. I doubt he has a bad word to say about Blind, but he's clocked that right now what we need him for is to sit on the bench and be ready to fill a variety of holes when necessary (ooh vicar). Similarly, I think Mata has thoroughly won him over, but again he sees him as a reliable attacking option at the moment, rather than a best-XI starter.

Martial is the only one of the three who obviously is in Mourinho's bad books. And he'll survive because Mou might be willing to berate his players publicly but he's not such an idiot that he can't recognise a potentially world-class attacker when he sees one.

Just had this discussion today about Blind. The guy started 7/10 of our last matches. He's not going anywhere.

Regarding Martial, the season was not so successful for Mourinho to dismiss Martial (or Shaw) right away. Willingly or not, he must give them another chance.
