Up to the voters to decide, but yes, you should be opting to play a tactic the manager would use, with players that manager would have used. So if you Guardiola but you want to play a 5 man defense - then you'll lose all the "honorary" votes so to say.

One can vote for a team to win - but still vote against them in the "honorary" vote. So managers gets two votes.

So I cant choose my honorary manager to be different from my team selection manager?

I'm not sure how practical that will be. I can see that having the same complications as EAP's formation criteria.

i wouldn't mind but I will warn you I am more of a football is more than just goals man.

I rate Danny Welbeck very highly.
I don't really like the way C.Ronaldo has been playing post-2006-07
I still don't think very highly of Gareth Bale
I love Nani as a player
I love players like Le Tissier and Bergkamp, but not really loving the super-efficient speed-robos like Ronaldo, Bale. I don't mind Robben though

So do you still want to team up?

That won't work with MJJ

Drafting shouldn't be rocket science Annah.

So if one manager would replicate someone's team and the other would choose different "philosophy", it would be at the very least draw (without "scan-voters"), as half of the votes would be given to the former anyway?

I get what you're trying to do, give the ones an advantage who look into their manager's career and stay close to his vision, build a team round his idea of the game. But I don't think you need to overcomplicate the voting for it, most of the draft managers here honour a well working side with a style that fits the players anyway, so if you keep the 'manager's votes count twice' - idea from EAP's draft, you'll achieve that anyway, even if the scan voters ignore that part of this draft (which most likely isn't even the case with all of them).

I think the additional honorary vote is a step too far, too complicated.

Theme of the next draft will be to pick one manager - and you can only draft players which this managers has had playing for him. There has been enough drafts with the highlight on the players - so it is time for the participants to dig deep in the managerial part of football history.

Snake Draft
  1. Every manager picks a manager(all time), in the first round, leaving the last(16th) to pick a manager - with the first pick to pick a player to balance it out.
  2. The players will be rated based on their level under the manager you've chosen. I.e if you picked Mourinho then Di Maria won't be as good as if you had picked LVG or Ancelotti.
  3. National teams only counts for the reinforcement rounds. (I.e you can't pick Del Bosque and pick the Spanish team, but if you were to make it through the first round you could suddenly add those players as reinforcements there.)
  4. 2 reinforcements per won game, except after the semi-final where you only get 1 reinforcement.

Alright, we will skip that part and just keep EAP's double vote system for managers again!

Just one question. Say you pick a manager and stick to his philosophy and tactical set-up to the tee. What if you encounter another manager who counters your manager's team heavily and will probably beat you if you stick with your selected manager's current tactics/philosophy. What do you do then? Do you stay honest to the philosophy and tactical set-up of the manager that you've selected, knowing that it would probably result in a defeat or drastically change the set-up so as to beat the opposing team? The latter would be more practical but unnatural as you aren't staying true to your manager's style and identity.

Oh and can the manager play in his own team?

Oh and can the manager play in his own team?

People decided it would be best to just disregard that. If you want to stay true to your manager the better for you, but in such an extreme situation it is best to change.

The manager can not play in his own team, having been the assistant/president or whatever does not count either, only the head manager counts.

So just to confirm. If I pick SAF, my team will be full of players who played for SAF? Or do we pick different manaegrs as the draft progresses?

Thought I'd bump this back to the head of the line, mainly so I don't have to focus on losing to @MJJ and @manikandan nair any longer :p kidding..great job in the draft guys.

I'm up for hosting the next one, unless anyone has any issues with that :p Obviously it's the holidays, so probably won't start it until the new year, that way anyone who's busy with work, or out of town can still have the chance to participate.

Was thinking about hosting a sheep draft, since the last one was so popular...but mixing up the criteria for each round so its not the same as previous.

Sounds great. An idea is to set up some more defined rules so the managers and key voters are all on the same page.

Saw a lot of problems with that this draft, and defining peak is also brilliant which we saw when Pippa provided really strong proofs for Adriano yet a lot of people shot it down anyhow. Which was fair as everybody can define peak as they want.

Yeah I think before we start, having a set of definitions for key areas of conflict will make things smoother.

Defining a players peak, in regards to whether 1 season counts, or a minimum number of seasons.
I saw a few posts in here regarding scan votes, and whether someone votes without posting.
