ICC T20 World Cup 2022

Fair play not rated Stokes of late in this format but he kept his head there when everyone else was losing theirs

He pulled his groin fielding to be fair, it wasn’t by design this time.

If he’s out against India it’ll be interesting whether Salt replaces him or they go with Willey.

They will pick Willey. Our top 3 can struggle early on against left armers. No brainer.

Did Nasser really call it an outstanding performance?

Think India will take care of England’s fragile batting.

Another one - "England got over the line comfortably in the end."

Our bowling only does well if conditions are suitable. Our semi will be on Oval I believe, where we our bowlers were exposed by Das. England will be clear favs.

Fair play to Stokes, there's no doubt that his experience and temperament is a massive addition to this team and more than makes up for his lack of T20 appearances over the past few seasons.

Eight bowlers/all rounders though. Think our middle order collapse today shows Salt would need to play if Malan is out. I'd consider dropping one of Ali/Livingstone/Woakes in order to pick Willey.

I price sport for a living (ooooh get me). I can assure you england won't be 'clear' Favs.

Should be a great game though. Still feel like England have a big performance in them.

How does every team look so shit in this tournament?
Maybe it’s every team is playing high quality? The opponent often needs to play well to make the other team look shit.

I think the quality from all sides has been quite high as an average across all teams.

Yeah I don’t think there will be any “clear favourites” in the semi-finals. Especially not in T20 games where so many games have been tight and there is a smaller margin for error compared to longer format.

I do think we’ll see England play a lot better against likely opponents India. Today was all about just grinding the win regardless of how you do it.

Although England made it more difficult than it should have been, I still think it was always under control. Needing a run a ball for most of the last few overs is easy to control even if you keep losing wickets.

England made that more of a struggle than I expected. Glad Australia is out.

Going to be a tossup in the semifinals, don’t think there’s a standout team that’s absolutely better than the rest

India just beat England in a t20 series away. They would start that match as the favourites for me.

Different team... A massively out of form Roy was opening and there was no Stokes, Rashid or Wood.

50/50 I think.

I think England have a few issues with the batting especially when chasing to be honest. It's not quite there yet as it showed today.

I wouldn't read too much into that, it wasn't the full England team and they had a weird summer. They've since proven against Australia, NZ and Pakistan that they're capable. Having said that, I feel like India will raise their game on Thursday despite not being at their best this tournament.

Holland off to a pretty decent start here.

43-0 nearly end of 6th over and power play.

Not a single fan in the ground to be seen! Was like a panning of the camera at the Etihad.

They don’t have much batting power, will probably do well to reach 120.
Fully expecting a batting collapse against this SA bowling attack. Even if they miraculously reach 150-160, SA will chase it down.

It’s a slow wicket, 160 could make it interesting. Just don’t see where the runs will come from vs this attack.

For some reason, I feel the S Africans will be their own enemies if they mess this game up. The “chokers” tag has weighed down heavy on them over the years. Surely they can’t choke this one?

Wow Holland have turned up today. This is going to be a pressure chase for SA. Hollands strength is their bowling.

Tough chase on this wicket.

That volunteer with the one handed catch is an absolute hero.

Decent score in the end. But Saffers generally choke vs half decent opponents, surely even they are incapable of messing up against Holland of all teams.

Im leaning towards SA choking here followed by Pakistan choking against Bangladesh later.

What a catch. Van der Merwe, take a bow.

This tournament - how people are still claiming team blah blah is the clear favorite is beyond me.
