ICC T20 World Cup 2022

Fantastic from Zimbabwe. Well played.

Pathetic batting from Pakistan. Don't know how to play against pace & bounce. Imbeciles deserve to get dumped out.

That Zimbabwe left armer should be seen by every franchise. What a talent!

So so poor from Pakistan. Shadab Khan hitting a 6 then playing a yahoo shot next delivery was so unnecessary. That turned the game for me.

Take nothing away from Zimbabwe - they did what they needed to.

Brilliant bowling effort from Zimbabwe. That tall left armer looked class.

Wow Pak are done. Poor stuff.

But Zimbabwe gave got some good players with them, especially their bowling.

That was poor btu

Shadab is a bowling all rounder the biggest shock for me is likes of Haider Ali playing international cricket. He can't seem to get through a single ball.

Did not see this coming. Pak played well against India and then to collapse like that. Now SA can lose to Pak, beat India and still make the semis (assuming other results go the expected route). And SA are definitely beating India on this Perth wicket. Can't see our batting doing damage against Rabada, Nortje, Ngidi and Parnell with this much bounce for even length deliveries. Bar Shami, don't think any of our pacers would be able to use the wicket as well.

Yea he was diabolical. No idea why he’s even playing. Would rather Asif Ali be in the team.

SA will probably still need to beat Pakistan to go through as they've dropped points already with a draw. If Pakistan win their last 3 and SA lose to India, they'll be behind Pakistan.

Can see ex Pakistan players ripping their side apart for this. This was poor especially after a very strong display against India.

Pakistan can get maximum of 6 points. If SA, currently on 3 points, lose to Pak and beat India and Netherlands, they will end up on 7 points. So No, they don't need to beat Pakistan anymore. If SA beat India on sunday, Pak are effectively out bar other upsets or weather driven draws.

A loss like this in this format of WC is hard to digest/defend. Pak put in a lot of prep for this WC, I believe they played the most T20Is in 3-4 weeks before the WC.

Just realized Zim only need to beat Bangla and Netherlands to reach 7 points. That puts them in serious contention for a semi spot.

Well done Australia - this is easily one of the best T20 WCs so far.

Tosses haven’t mattered and so many upsets.

Weather has not been good and forecast for coming game is not looking up either. Tomorrow's first game at Melbourne looks cert to be a washout, second one which is Eng vs Oz, if lucky might see a result with a shortened game.

Exactly and losing in Perth should hurt them more as I strongly believe they have one of the best bowling line up, if not the best.

They have to regroup but this will hurt them.

The actual Cricket has largely been super.

But there's been nowhere near enough of it.

Meanwhile rain making things super interesting in group A

i’d say ruining the group. afghanistan have had 2 of their 3 matches washed out. if that was one of the big boys going home through no fault of their own, there would be outcry.

Pakistan, like always, have shown how capable they are of both magic and madness.

Credit to Zimbabwe, though. A historic win in the WC for them. IPL scouts will be looking at couple of players in there.

I never realised it rained so much in Australia.

it’s all a government conspiracy. it’s basically just a worse version of great britain in every conceivable way, they just have a great marketing department that convinces everyone otherwise. it’s why it’s so hard to emigrate there. they’re worried that if outsiders stay there too long, they will work out their secrets. you’d be all “i fled war-torn sierra leone for this!?”

could the authorities not invent a scaled down version of this to put on the ball. that would allow play to continue during rain.

True, but thankfully Australia are already at home. :nervous:

As much as I love cricket it's annoying to see it held to ransom by not just the weather but by franchise cricket which in the last 10 years has exploded and now rules cricket.

Because of this dominance, it dictates the calendar and major international tournaments have to fit in wherever there is space left.

I get the impression that the World T20 wouldn't normally have been played at this time of year in Australia.

So really if there's washout after washout then the ICC have to look at it as not just bad luck, there's more to it than that.

Having said that I appreciate the weather has been freakishly bad for this time of year.

Think it's being played in November to avoid conflict with football WC?

Once again there was an indoor stadium in Melbourne. Also in the same city they play a tennis tournament which goes on at night till matches finish so why does cricket need such crazy cut off times

australia have shown themselves up on a global scale with this debacle and the only appropriate solution is to atlantis the whole place.

I think that's essentially in the pipeline regardless.

My interest has been waning while the short forms of the game have become dominant. I know why it's gone the way it's gone but it's leaving me behind.
