ICC T20 World Cup 2022

What a poor way to organise a cricket tournament. Barely anyone at the stadium for matches. No reserve days and double headers with such terrible weather around. England playing Ireland in a game that starts at 5am in these countries because why not. England playing Australia on a Friday with the game at 9am England time. What a farce

Will be even better from Sunday with the hour change

92/1 in 10 overs to 157 all out. The Irish lost the plot. Very straightforward chase for England.

Can’t see England chasing this. No one has come to terms with the surface. The only boundaries I can remember are edges and false shots.

This tournament setup is brutal, 2 from 6 go through in the most unpredictable format of the game.

DLS loss coming in here. Mo’s little burst gets us tantalisingly close.

T20 is great fun for a series, but as a world cup format it's pretty rubbish - especially when there are no reserve days

According to cricinfo, play has to restart in like 8 minutes. Ireland have a deserved win here

One problem is that if you lose your first game you’re 90% likely to go out. For anyone outside the top 6 it’s 99%. Leads to a lot of games where 1 side has nothing to play for.

Icc knew for weeks about the forecast but did nothing and allowed double headers. What a great cricket body

In football Arsenal were allowed to play the game a few weeks later after death of the queen, but here they couldn't have reserve days. Shameful.

I mean no complaints on the loss as thems the rules but always disappointing to not be able to see a game played out, especially with Ali and Livingstone in.

Game over, England lose. Going to have to win their other games now.

England v Australia is a knock out now. Aus must be favourites as that twice now where Englands batting looks terrible.

England were dumb as feck in this game as well. Pointless holding Moeen and Livingstone back when the rain was threatening at any stage.

Pretty embarrassing from the World Champions and one of the pre tournament favourites really. Just couldn't get a partnership going in the reply.

Simultaneously put themselves under pressure and given Australia a leg up.

England have looked pretty average batting wise in this tournament so far.

Watching tomorrow's forecast and it seems that South Africa - Bangladesh might get rained off too. Thankfully India-Netherlands seems free of rain.
Melbourne's forecast for the next week looks awful.

Melbourne has a roofed stadium and there is hardly any crowd for these matches anyways but logic is too hard for ICC

This means the unfancied bastards New Zealand are yet again heading to the semis

That was more or less confirmed when they trashed the Aussies in the first match.

Missed the Ireland innings but I'm guessing England bowled pretty badly at the start. Looked to be plenty of assistance and Ireland's seamers were good enough to take advantage.

The weather is obviously a downer but I am loving the pitches. It makes it a contest between batsmen and bowler rather the crap we see on subcontinent wickets in which the bowlers are just there to be smashed.

Nah without an upset like this they would’ve needed 4 wins. Now they‘ll most likely qualify with 3 wins thanks to their NRR. Afg and SL games are banana skins so this helps them a fair bit.

Fully deserved win for Ireland, can’t have any complaints.

Ben Stokes being in a T20 team is still mind boggling to me, shoe horning him in is wasting Moeen at 6 and Livingstone down at 7.

That lefty who was amazing in the Pakistan series along with Brook was the better bet.

I wouldn’t even bring a batter in, but a bowler. We’ve too many good batters not getting a hit because they’re down the order.

Mo at 4, move everyone below him currently up 1 and add either Mills or Willey (admittedly he’d keep a few in their spot) and the side looks so much more balanced

Just woke up and seen the score - ffs

The rain is at risk of making this tournament feel pretty second rate but I suppose helping that shock result is fun. If you're not English.
