ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

You have a team 47 for 3 and the ball is swinging no signs of dew yet. You apply pressure.

Thinking bring on the spinners when your faster bowlers have made a good start is weird thinking

Aye, Aussies looked like they were going to get out with every ball at that point.

I’m not a cricket fan by any stretch, and I’m definitely not Australian, but it’s great to see that Indian crowd silenced

Who's looking forward to the era of KL Rahul as Indian captain? Stuff of nightmares.

Head might just have done enough here to get the nod as Australia's MOTM ahead of Rahul.

Australia winning another bloody World Cup is shite, even in an era where I'd argue they're not anything special this will be their 2nd major trophy in the last 3 years FFS.

So I'm going to try and just focus on how funny it is that India had such a dominant WC smashing everyone in the group stages only to blow it when it matters again

Yep, at that point I was assuming india would turn the screws and one more wicket would have likely turned it into an easy win for them. They were well in the drivers seat, but just just the tactics wrong and let Australia slowly bat themselves back into it

Travis Head will get all the plaudits here and he deserves them

However the role Labs has played has been maybe even more crucial

Both the tournaments they've won they've been roughly the 3rd or 4th best side/squad. Annoying

This is a remarkable innings from Head. Hit two boundaries in the first over and could've easily got carried away. Instead he soaked up the pressure and barely scored another run in the powerplay. Obviously we know he can brute force his way to big scores but wasn't aware he had this kind of innings in him.

It looks more humiliating to lose a home final when your fans are emptying and in pin drop silence

It's bloody insane. I suspect the locals don't even care about the game but they keep producing winning teams.

Exactly

I fecking hate admitting it but they're just winners, they never panic and they rise to the big occasion.

The bastards.

That's why I'm so pleased we didn't let them win the Ashes but I've banged on about that enough I will shut up now I promise.

Given where the game appears to be moving to, its worth mentioning that it is a test mentality that dragged Australia back into this when a twenty twenty mentality threatened to throw it all away in 10 overs.

Aussies are something else at cricket , even the most mediocre teams turn into champions.

THe upside is socials will be quiet with the msot annoying trolls silenced.

India were the best team throughout the tournament, but this is the first time they were under pressure and they’ve wilted. I think the dead rubber games towards the end of the league really hurt them.

Head has developed into one hell of a player, which I didn’t really expect

Yeah shouldn't have played it cute with the pitches, scheduling and venue selection. It's a shame that the group of sportsmen suffer due to the politics in the background.

The captaincy from Australia was brilliant aa was the game plan
But also Australia were better at batting bowling and fielding

The hubris of naming this stadium after a sitting prime minister. Sad for the Indian team and fans, delighted for Modi.

The only memorable thing about this shit WC was how good India have been and now they've managed to get smashed in the final.
