3. Who is going to pay for roofs on stadiums. For Australian grounds, they are multi sport venues, not just cricket which is why they can afford the roofs. English county teams cannot afford it. They cost in the region of £70m to £100m.

You're again missing my point, CT2013 and 2017 serve as a precedence that weather in England is unpredictable even in driest of times in June. So why were no contingency plans put in place? Least of all a reserve day for each match, or come with 2-3 days overall at the end of group stage where washed out matches could've be re-scheduled?

2 matches which were washed out in Aus/SA have little bearing when you take into account the follows.

In CT2013, 1 match was washed out (Aus v NZ). 4 matches were significantly affected by rain (Eng v NZ, SA v WI, Pak v Ind, Ind v Eng Final). D/L fecked over SA as they were KO'ed, the final in itself turned into a 20 over affair which England lost. That's 5 out of 15 (33% matches) which were affected by rain. Let's take a look at CT2017, again 5 out of 15 matches were affected. 2 of them were a total washout, and as a result Aus got eliminated. In the current World Cup, 4 have already been a total washout with one being severely affected. There is a very high scenario of weather skewing the SFs as one of the better teams will get fecked over due to no fault of theirs but due to sheer incompetency of ECB and ICC.

Going back to your ground staff thing, yes there is a problem of resources. They are hugely under-equipped and as a result a lot of time is lost between bringing/removing the covers and drying the outfield. This could've been solved by manufacturing covers which can cover the outfield and increase the manual workforce to cut down the time. Plenty of time is being wasted for 'inspection', ICC rules obviously don't help either.

Also, it is the job of host nation to ensure things go smoothly during the event. If it means making new stadiums or building new architecture, then its nothing new. India held CW games in 2010 and they spent $10Billion to make that happen, please keep in mind this is a country which is far far lagging when it comes to athletic events and the only sport people give a shit about is Cricket. Yet, they poured resources to build the required infrastructure. Now England being a developed country cannot sanction enough money in 13 years time to put a roof over few stadiums? Or heck build a multi-purpose stadium? Give me a break.

I clearly don't have a sixth sense about the weather, but any sane person who follows cricket knows how dependent this sport is on it. If you're hosting the biggest event in that sport in a country which is infamous for its unpredictable weather, then you better have solutions when shit hits the fan.

I love how you say put a roof over a few stadiums as if that’s a trivial thing and they can just throw a roof over Lords or The Oval

But the truth is cricket doesn’t get enough live viewers over here to make spending that sort of money anywhere near worth it. That’s the reality of the situation. I wouldn’t complain if the ICC didn’t want to hold tournaments here because of the weather but it is what it is.

Of course but theres not a lot to gain for either team with a win. Both can easily go through and isn't a must win for either. They'll be happy with a point each and thats one less potential banana slip for them both.

You need to calm down a bit , its just a sport in the end . No one in their right mind will build roofs over cricket stadiums , you make it seem like it's like putting a wall in your house or something. It's irrelevant how much India spent for CWG ,if anything that money should never have spent . Putting roof over cricket stadiums does nothing for the British economy, it's virtually as good as putting a statue for millions .
 
Hope the match tomorrow goes ahead. I have the day off so it would be nice to see the boys in action.

Don't think bowling first is a good choice unless it's a green surface plus overcast conditions. If the teen batting first manages to score 300+, we have seen teams struggle to chase that, guess the pressure of it being a WC game adds 20-30 runs to the total
