ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

But still, you'd think they could think about it and provide some non-alcoholic stuff for spraying around. Hardly a unique situation given the demographics of the tournament.

Never understood the point of alcohol in on-field sports celebrations given the fact that alcohol and professional sport is a complete mismatch.

Row: congrats england
Some indian fans: play the semi again, feck the fecking cheaters, come to india.

But we are the ones that are obsessed. Right.
I've not generalised, only saying @Adnan is obsessed to make the point he did. Unless you agree with him?

Yes, some of us are salty and lacking in graciousness following our exit. Poor behavior certainly.

But to insinuate that the reason behind it is because England have Pakistani heritage players shows how obsessed you are:lol:
It was a question regarding the two players in our team. I wasn't making a statement.

To be fair, it's only a couple of Indian fans on here embarrassing themselves.

Most of the other Indian fans have been fine.
Thank you for not generalizing. I will again repeat England were the deserving winners. They have played some of the best cricket in last 2 years and they have been rewarded for their brave brand of cricket.

Ayush are you seriously telling me england tried to draw that game and take it to superover on purpose? Or when stokes was batting he was thinking feck winning the game, must hit fours so we can win it if we draw then there is a super over and we draw again.

No I am saying that if wickets were the deciding factor for tie break then with 3 needed off 2 and both teams having lost 8 wickets England wouldn't have gone for suicidal runs. As for the boundaries thing it is a rule they came up with to decide on tied superovers , again both teams were aware of the rule and if NZ had hit more boundaries they would have won after scoring 15 just like England did. There is no luck in that

It’s weird. It’s was the same in the football World Cup thread. They all hate England with a passion, with no logical explanation, but then support an English club. I don’t get it.

We had a fecking Mexican in the Womens World Cup football thread who had to get thread banned because of how he kept going on about how much he hated England.

I wasn't aware there was a big England Mexico rivalry.

4d chess

Perhaps if it's a standard response you get you should question why you keep getting that response?
Because some people think that it's perfectly acceptable to accuse someone of racism, even when there are other perfectly acceptable reasons for having a certain opinion?

I get the impression the people most annoyed by England winning are the Indian fans from England. Could be wrong here mind you.

I don't get it though. For me it's similar to watching Liverpool lift the Champions league. I hated that. I don't really like this as well. I don't see anything wrong with it - I'm not an England supporter. The only thing I've stated is that England were very fortunate to win; which they were - they tied on both accounts and won by virtue of hitting more boundaries - I'll ask why the team who lost fewer wickets doesn't count for more? I think I'm not going to post in this thread and will wait for the Ashes thread, where I'll be hoping for England to get smashed 5-0 and, if they do, I'll be back to rub it in. If not, then it doesn't matter since I don't support Australia.

Mate the world cup was held in england....

Its strange. You could understand everyone hating United because we won a lot of trophies, and was very successful, but England never win anything usually.

No you haven't.

You said you hate England the the English players and you see England as the enemy.

You're the Glaston of the Indian team.

Not all them, though. Go back a hundred pages to see who I hate.

And what's wrong with that? I don't have any issue with them as people. In fact, I'm a huge fan of Jose Butler and I've stated, in this thread, that I like Jason Roy, too.

I was born here and I've followed county cricket, a lot, and have been a huge fan of many English players like the two named above as well as Marcus Trescothick, KP, Hoggard, Caddick, Gough and some others.

Yup, the rest of Europe can take a lesson from it. It's weird that all the posters against it are making the rights argument for them.

England are a mess politically. The fewer lessons Europe takes from them the better.

Tbh, I understand the rules, but it should be a dead ball if it hits the bat of the batter after the ball has been delivered and stroke played. Understand the whole overthrow issue as well, but if that hits a body part rather than a hard piece of wood, its hardly going for four..

Bless them  am I right in thinking that while they definitely will have wanted to avoid the alcohol, they added a bit of comedic timing to their exit there?
it did look like they were counting down wanting for the moment to run. Sort of great if they planned it hoping it would go viral. But either way it made for a funny video.

They would have as they wanted to win, there is no way Rashid doesn't try to go back for that second run to get stokes back on strike or stokes doesn't sacrifice Rashid there.

The drama was too much in this one, i think this was the best.
Has to be up there as best game ever, in my lifetime that I’ve seen, and I’ve seen loads. Perhaps South Africa run chase of 438 but was a relatively meaningless match.

Tension in the ground since England being 80-4 was unbearable. Then the first tie. Then super over. Too many talking points. Going to keep me up for days living through it all.

As a sporting spectacle I even put it over Nou camp 99.

Just watched the Wimbledon final. Fecking hell. Which ubercunt decided to have these finals on the same day?

Oh no, not being accused of racism. That's much worse than racism.

Stokes probably had a hard-on throughout that innings, so would have definitely gone for 4 if it hit him there

But yes it's a nonsense rule. No further runs should be allowed if a throw hits a batsmen. Wait, that could actually also become a loophole for the fielding team to exploit?

Stokes made his own luck with that dive! Tremendous effort.

Also, I think englands multiculturalism should be applauded. It's been one of the most welcoming nation till recent times which is what won them the world cup. Fair play.

Yeah for sure, you know Stokes is the kind of guy who will bust a gut for everything and sometimes it gets you a slice of luck.

Definitely still more than can be done I think mind, in Worcestershire we have a big Asian population as does most of the West Midlands, and Moeen is a much loved man at the club yet when you look around the village leagues there are nowhere near as many Asians playing as you’d expect considering the love for the sport.
