ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Complete disbelief and bemusement amongst all here right now. Am at mid wicket so can’t see ball movement.

Can someone please explain to me what voodoo NZ bowlers have over England today?

It's stopping in the pitch and nibbling around. England have been too slow adapting and looking to run NZ around.

Whatever happens from here, it’s not a team performance that deserves victory celebrations but there’s a chance for someone to become a legend and grab a knighthood with the bat.

This is right there. England haven’t adapted like NZ did. Root and Morgan have given their wickets away.

In fairness, if Root is struggling to find singles then you know it's easier said than done.

Not convinced that a pitch where Darren Stevens would have been handy is the best for a show piece final, but you have to find a way to get those tough runs if you wanna be World Champs.

Was surprised about the grass but like you said if you want to be the best you have to adapt and England have to do that now.

There’s no need to slog, sensible batting will mean getting the 1s and 2s with the occasional boundary but remains to be seen if England can do that.
Not at the moment.. no..

But England are consolidating right now... It might creep up.

Plenty of runs still to get.

Not even sure it's the grass; I'm sure there was a theory a while ago that the Lord's drainage system was so good that it sucked all the moisture out the pitch and made it impossible to create a pitch with much pace in it.

A pitch like this shows that bowlers who bowl dobbers around the mid 70's still have a role in the modern game. Fantastic from de Grandhomme.
Great name too when translated to "the big man"

Very good from De Grandhomme.

England need this pair not to do anything stupid.

De Grandhomme reminds me of a Sri Lankan player we had at our club for a few years. He was about 46, had no pace and at first no one took him seriously. But he kept trundling in and planting it on the same top of off stump line and length and no one could really slog him away because the lack of pace with that accuracy meant the ball just died on you. A real war wagon of a bowler.

When the pitch suits them, these bowlers can be difficult to get away. Collingwood did this throughout his career. But on pitches which don’t offer anything you can score off them.

Butler looking very good. RR will never an issue with him at the crease. Mistake by Williamson to bottle bowling Santner at him. Yes, he might smack him for few sixes but it gives you a chance too.
