ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

I'm pleased for NZ. I think they are a good honest side who consistently punch above their weight. I like these sort of teams.

A NZ side who got hammered by Bangladesh in the recent series go on to beat South Africa who hammered Bangladesh by 200 odd runs in the WC. South Africa bloody hell.

Quite enjoy beating those Saffers at cricket really.

Thought they would put up more of a fight though. :)

I bet no one on here thought the Kiwis were going to beat SA. This will make the job easier for Sri Lanka now.

NZ, what a win. After their recent record in Dhaka, I didn't give them a chance. Also very good of them to acknowledge the local fans who turned up :)

How are you feeling BTV after the Aussies lost? Did you think they really had a chance after Dhoni was out?

P.S. I m not trying to mock you, it is a genuine question.

Yeah I thought there was still a bit of a chance, but I knew Yuvraj was the key wicket. Didn't happen, instead Raina and Yuvraj immediately turned the pressure back on Australia by having those 2 really good overs, and it was all over after that.

No complaints, the better team won, you can't have a 1 man bowling attack(Lee) and expect to win a WC.

Yeah that is true. Those two overs that went for 25 runs completely changed the game. There was still so much pressure on India till then. Your spinner, Krezja, did pretty good. He contained us pretty well. But yeah your bowling definitely needs to improve and so do ours.

Indian Cricket Team beg to differ on that :p

I did not know Brett Lee had played his last match in Australian colors. He has been one of my favorite bowlers in the last 7-8 years.

Nope. That was the initial plan, they played like that for a year with AB keeping, but now with Tahir in, they're playing 5 bowlers. They've pretty much dropped the keeper for a bowler.

It's a rather short batting line-up, especially with Du Plessis at 6. I think that'll stop them winning this WC.

Graeme Smith's been rubbish for a year. It's a batting line-up heavily dependent on 2-5 plus a bit of wagging from the tail.

They are too dependent on Kallis and De Villers. I would be surprised if they amass or chase down a score above 250 without either of those contributing heavily.

Didn't expect it to come true this fast.

The coach and captain should take the blame. Rubbish team composition.

I just got home and checked this result.

Can anyone fill me in on how the feck South Africa managed to lose this?

If Zaheer is out, then I would be seriously worried of our bowling prospects.

Yeah he is your spearhead, but in this WC you've had Yuvraj(2nd or 3rd most wickets I think), Ashwin the last couple of matches, and slowly Harbhajan getting back into the groove.

Australia had no one basically...the bowling group was a shambles, it was good enough against the minnows, because they almost never face out and out pace, but against the big teams they got found out.

NZ - they beat, but matches against them always have a different edge to them
SL - rained out
Pakistan - lost
India - lost.

Someone needs to teach them the Heimlich maneuver.

108/2 completely in control, Kallis hits a shot that against anyone else would have been a boundary, but with 50ft tall Oram at the boundary, it is a catch.
-Duminy then tries a cut shot, but the ball stays low, and is bowled.
-AB gets run out after a mixup + great run out by McCullum
-then the rest look like they shit their pants...and it was all over.

Really was sad to see, Graeme Smith looked lost :(

Never liked Smith. Bit of a cock. SA have a lot of players like that..

Shame. Had we not won it I'd have wanted SA to win it. It makes England or SL's job a little easier. But you never know, maybe they would have fecked up the semis had they gotten through this.

Yeap, can't believe they lost today. I was out for dinner and just assumed that SA would coast to victory. Could not believe my ears when someone told me they were 7 down.

I feel sorry for them really..chokers thing is going to follow them till they win a WC. Poor sods.

Bhajji still not even close to his best. He was our 3rd best spinner yesterday.

Ashwin is fine but I do not think he will trouble Pak much.

That was a turn up for the books. Let's hope for another tomorrow.

If that happens and if we don't beat Pakistan then it will be a easy victory for Pakistan. I just don't want Pakistan to win the WC. Anybody but them.

But seriously how does SA lose chasing freaking 222. I mean that is the lowest chasing target in this WC for a high profile match right?

Yeah that's a dilemma for me too. Do I want the best teams to qualify from this side of the draw (SA or SL, of course only one is possible now) or a relatively lesser one (Eng or NZ)? Because either it helps us or it helps Pakistan. But in the end to be honest it is India's interest that matters. And I don't think I have that much bitterness towards Pakistan anymore if they progress. More disappointment at us going through. How times change. In the 90's Pakistan being near the world cup final was an awful feeling.

It will be awful if Pak win the world cup in Mumbai. But we have the chance to knock them our ourselves so no one else to blame if miss it.

Bhajji seems to be bowling well as in containing the batsmen but he is not picking wickets that much. I mean Yuvi has 11 wickets this tournament and how does Bhajji have?

I actually skipped today's match in the firm belief it'd be a walkover for SA, what the feck haha... as someone put simply, chokers gonna choke, can't believe it. Never thought they'd win the trophy in the end, but to not at least reach the semis is pathetic
