ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

infact dhoni should drop himself...useless cnut hasn't scored for ages. give the gloves to someone else and include another batsman or bowler.

This WC? Why?

They had their match against Australia rained out, they weren't in a bad position, but they weren't exactly dominant either. They then lost against Pakistan, with only NZ being their only proper victory over a good team.

They are favourites, and with Murali(even a less than 100%), Mendis, Malinga have a varied attack, and with the bat, Dilshan, Jaya, Sanga are all class players, but they still haven't put together a complete performance yet this tournament.

They absolutely thrashed NZ by over a hundred runs with something like 15 overs to spare. They've thrashed any minnows that stood in their way (something England have had trouble doing). The only game they've lost is that one to Pakistan by a very slim margin against a very good side who could be destined for the final.

On form, I'd fancy SL over England at the moment.

I'm surprising relaxed and looking forward to the semis against India. Don't know why. In 1996 we were cup holders and I was sh*tting bricks because we were by far and away favourites and we should have won the trophy that year. The expectation was suffocating.

This time Afridi predicted a semi final spot and I scoffed. Now we're there everything will be a bonus. I just hope the Pakistani players think the same way and let the Indian fans' expectations make that work against India just like Pakistani expectations did with us in '96.

We should play pathan in the next game....big hits in the end of the innings will help us greatly.

that is if we bat first!

Yeah that is what we have hoping he would do. But his highest score in this WC is 13. He just comes in and blindly swings his bat and slogs. He needs to play a little more sensibly because you cannot put away every ball to the boundary.

I was like this 24 hours ago. Then I was scared stiff at the prospect of the game, then I get giddy, I really don't know now. I imagine this is what PMS is like :-/...

Get a good total and we can easily restrict India to a lower total at the very least, possibly even bowl them out if we get the big two at the top of the order early enough.

I'm just hoping Misbah and Younis regain they're form from earlier in the competition and in Misbah's case, from the NZ tour. If they fire, we can easily post an interesting total of 280+. They both have history of turning it on when the chips are down, and then we have Boom Boom whose batting is due a goodturn, and wouldnt it be just like him to fire in the crunch semi against the Enemy? :D.

Sorry, I'm getting giddy again.

Eh? SA were favorites in 96.

I don't see why the pressure should just be on us for the semi final. Maybe in the stadium but back in Pakistan, how can there be a lack of pressure on the team playing us? No matter how bad we've been or less fancied we've been there has ALWAYS been huge pressure simply because it is India v Pakistan.

Reckon NZ will get less than 220 and SA will chase it down comfortably.

I'd be happy with 220, amol!

Shocker from McCullum. Ryder not moving his feet. Again.

Symcox is an awful commentator.

We're in for a harrumping.

220 was actually ny upper limit. Very poor start . Look all at sea.

What happened to the century maker against Pakistan? Can't believe I'm forgetting his name!

2 down. Please nz, give us a good game!

I can see this being another QF like Windies v. Pakistan.

Very one sided.

The thing is, for all the praise from the press, SA's spin options are merely competent. Peterson and Botha are both good, steady bowlers but nothing special.

Tahir on.

Why the feck do commentators insist on calling the googly a 'Google'?!

Interesting point Sam.

No specialist spinner has performed in this competition with the exception of Tahir. Afridi, Yuvraj and Peterson would not be picked purely for their bowling.

Afridi probably would. He's been good for awhile.

Obviously not a top class spinner but forget about that. There are no warnes, kumbles and murlis (at their best) around. So keeping that in mind Sa have a good spin attack and a very good pace attack.

They have spinners though..unlike Oz. Both and Peterson will merely look to contain...they will attack with Tahir. At least against SRL and India/Pak.

Afridi is a proper leg spin bowler now, no two ways about it.

I don't know mate. We should if thats the target but we tend to get jittery after losing a wicket or two. I'm still not happy with our middle order, very thin and inexperienced. JP's the only one in there that can hold his head I reckon. Du Plessis hasn't done to badly but after him its the bowlers.

I wasn't comparing SA to Aus.

If SA win this, they'll lose v the next sub-continental side they come up against.

From the outside, Du Plessis over Ingram looks a strange one.

They will come up against Lanka..it will be tough but I will back them to win that and make the finals.

SA for me have one weakness.. their lower batting order. They may bat deep but I think they are too dependent on the top 4 to get a big score.

Its not looking too great for SA at the moment...NZ are scoring runs at will and they have deep batting line up. Chasing anything beyond 250 will be to high a hill to climb I think.

They've sorted that by dropping the wicket-keeper and replacing him with an extra batsman.

Nope. That was the initial plan, they played like that for a year with AB keeping, but now with Tahir in, they're playing 5 bowlers. They've pretty much dropped the keeper for a bowler.

It's a rather short batting line-up, especially with Du Plessis at 6. I think that'll stop them winning this WC.

Graeme Smith's been rubbish for a year. It's a batting line-up heavily dependent on 2-5 plus a bit of wagging from the tail.

They are too dependent on Kallis and De Villers. I would be surprised if they amass or chase down a score above 250 without either of those contributing heavily.

I just can't see that top 4 failing. If they do though, fun times, and that 222 from NZ will suddenly look a lot better.

SA by 6 wickets with 44 balls to spare.
