I don't watch alot of India, so weird not seeing Laxman or Dravid in that lineup.
My confidence in winning this match has just down a few levels due to Tendulkar's wicket.
Only ever play test matches these days.
The middle order needs to stand up for once for India.
Dravid was class. Laxman was never meant for ODI cricket. But dravid should have been played more than he was.

What a great platform we have to beat Australia. A soft ball, lots of gaps, if we play smart cricket this game is there to be won.

Not really. Dravid never scored that quickly and lost his form after a point in one day cricket and the youngsters have proven their worth.

Not really. He was much better technically than some of the players around and scored at a decent enough run rate for me to retain his place.
I find it quite incredible that he's able to play so many games with little in terms of form deviation. While McGrath was still going at 38 he had his off days. Not so much poor bowling but where he struggled to take wickets.
You can't ignore a drop in form. He had a drastic drop in form. And there's a point where you have to move on and give young talents who are playing better in that format a go. We did.

Clarkey traditionally bowls well in India.
Put it this way, Sachin has endured some drastic drops in form due to whatever reason, but persistence with him has paid off. Would have been the same with Dravid, his fitness levels were never in question, he's a good fielder as well. I'd rather have Dravid than Raina in today's team. But maybe thats just me, I prefer strokeplay than explosive batting
India need to step up the run rate.
So you'd rather have Dravid coming in instead of Raina at 6 or 7? That makes sense.
Also there is no comparison between Sachin and Dravid. Sachin dominates games so even when he's out of touch (which basically barely happens) he's still trying to score quickly. Dravid when he's out of touch eats up a lot of deliveries and then gets out. As I said he had totally lost his touch and it was the right decision. It's worked out well for us so I don't see why we would regret it.
I think it's important to keep wickets in hand though. So many gaps in the pitch and with 50 or 60 to get in the last 10 with 6 wickets in hand it should be pretty simple. So I'd reckon the aim has to be to stay there and just move along at 5 an over. There will be poor deliveries to get the odd boundary from.

With Dravid it's not just his scoring rate which would be a problem for the team and his fellow batsmen - his fielding would also weaken the team.
Where do I say what position I want to play him in ? In place, not in his position. He would obviously be slotted up the order.
You really need to wind up the clock a bit and watch Sachin. As much as I admire him, he was completely out of sorts for considerable spells after the '03 WC. He did not dominate anything, whatever the reason, chappell, injuries etc. I never said India as team regrets it, the batting being the best in the world ATM proves it, but thats just my personal choice, I dont like players like Pathan or Raina, hit/miss with their suspect techniques. I'd rather have a Dravid like player instead of them.
