ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Will be very tough but doable. Will be decided by the top 3 really.

That's because our middle order hasn't had the chance to showcase their talent (this tournament). After Dhawan, Sharma and Kohli (top 3) we have Yuvi, Dhoni, Kedar, Pandya, Jadeja and Ashwin who can bat.

Well if India win, then :nervous:

The SA chase against Australia as has been mentioned. England smashing 444 against Pakistan last year was pretty incredible.

India have technically and more experienced batsman who are in incredible form. No I would not rate India getting 339 as I did Pakatan getting 338

wasn't a high profile final with 400m watching. also both teams were established quality teams/

Pakistan entered this game as massive underdogs, with most people predicting a humiliation.

All bets are off in a final. Stop peddling this.

In glorified friendlies, not in a world tournament final as a massive underdog. Please understand nuance and context.

I'm struggling with your logic here. You're basically saying Pakistan are shit and thus a good performance should be heralded as the best ever. It makes Zero sense.

One thing I can say, the bowling from India wasn't great (exept Bhuvi). Bumrah gave so many extras, jadeja was being taken for a ride and Ashwin was shite. Still think we would win. Our batting is too strong.

Nottinghamshire chased 370 in a semi-final the other day, it's a different era of cricket we are living in. 300 is an absolute minimum nowadays.

Which is a big problem.

Credit where it is due: Pakistan batted brilliantly. It might not have been the best of all time like @sammsky1 says but it's definitely up there given the pressure of the finals and this being India vs Pak after all.

I think it is 70-30 to Pak going into the start of the second innings. They've done the hard work and can only lose from here.

You did say yourself "that has to be the best ever batting performance in ODI history."

ODI history includes stuff outside ICC tournaments....

No pundit with a clue predicted anything of the sort because the last thing you ever do is predict what Pakistan can do, they are in the final and they have the momentum.

All of the indians here were predicting a wipeout and an easy victory, we still might lose but have given ourselves a fighting chance.

BTW: Im not even a Pakistan fan and generally dislike the modern day team. But I'm amazed at what they did just now.

Well my Indian supporting mate was certain Pakistan were going to do them today, in the script he said.

Indeed!! fecking Samit Patel of all people too

how ere they not just friendlies? Did the games have any meaning aside from being warm ups to test and T20's?

So unless an ODI is a final, its just a friendly? Cool story.. How an ODI is a warm up to a test match or a fecking T20, I wont even get into.

Anyway at least we have a contest & as a Pakistan fan that's the least I wanted. We've shown fight with the bat & now the bowlers have to back it up.

India are capable of chasing this down. Our bowling will have to be spot on throughout. Will be interesting how Shadab & Imad get played. Should be a good chase.

I didn't say that. But to score 338 in a final when most were predicting a score of less than 250 beforehand is quite spectacular.

because you are the arbiter of what is intelligent? Okie then.
No, its just that any discussion requires a basic amount of common sense and your arguments are struggling to make the cut here. Then again, you'd probably call these the best series of posts in caf history citing a shit history as the reason.

I mean come on, you're calling ODI matches friendlies just because they arent finals and then somehow claim those games were warm up matches and that too for Test and T20 cricket. Its a head scratcher.

I'm not convinced thats a particularly scary lower middle order. Pandya's talented, but a hot head and I wouldn't bank on him. Dhoni's powers are on the wane. Yuvraj is inconsistent and I wouldn't want to rely on Jadeja and Ashwin as competent as they are. Jadhav is a good player, but inexperienced at this level.

I've probably just put on the use impressive set of mockers ever seen, but I can't see the middle order pulling it off here if the top order fails.

Just the start we needed! Amir you beauty

So what predictions for the match??

I'm going to call it: Pakistan to bowl India out and win by 20 or so runs
