ICC Champions Trophy 2017

I remember last time before a match with Bangladesh about a player having Dhoni's head. The media here were having a fit and trying to act like we had this huge historical rivalry with them. Then they lost the match due to some umpire error and even more hand bags followed. I loved how the Indian media was telling their counter parts that it was a game, as if they wouldn't have that sort of meltdown..
Wonder if there is any kind of similar build up this yr!!

I've seen some pics of a Tiger wrapped in Bangladesh's flag chasing a dog wrapped in India's but I'm not sure if it's Bangladeshis being thick or Indians making them look like it.

India may start favourites but it won't be a surprise If Bangladesh win.

In English conditions I rate Bangladesh seam attack more than India's plus their batsman are in as good form as India's.

Of course India remain the bully boy of sub continent cricket (they should be given their cricket heritage, size of population and huge financial resources!) but being favourites brings it's own kind of pressure. I vividly remember Yuvraj losing his nerve in the 2015 T20 final which cost India the title vs Sri Lanka.

If Bangladesh get into the game and have India under pressure, let's see how India respond.

Nah, dont agree. We just destroyed their team in the warm ups with our weak XI. Their seam attack is no where near as good as ours. Bhuvi has been brilliant in all forms over the last year and Bhumra has been one id the best limited over bowlers since his debut.

Bangladesh are a good side. But we're on a completely different planet to them.

They do take it too far - even this year there have been a few things being paraded around on social media. The 15 WC match had 2 controversial decisions - both dubious but I would say 50-50 decisions (maybe 60-40). The aftermath of that loss - Senior ICC officials quit, Dhaka had protest marches and their PM came out with a statement - all this for just a game was indeed a tad too much.

Yes, I have seen that too. The point is I don't think there is a rivalry to be honest - It's all one-sided. Pakistan is to India what Scotland is to England these days (once a great rivalry) and Bangladesh is like Wales - they have reached the Asia cup finals, defeated us in a bilateral series and have beaten England, SA and India in recent memory. They are not minnows anymore.

In 03, it wasn't all about Sachin though. Ganguly had 3 100s that tournament, Zaheer took like 20 wickets. I was very young but I still remember us absolutely destroying SL, England and NZ like they were nothing. All three got out for barely 150 iirc

Agree bro, i was just pointing out imo it's the best i've seen Sachin play in a WC.

Ganguly's three hundred came all against non test playing countries I think. Namibia and Kenya twice.

Tbf Kenya reached the SF (though thhe walkovers helped). They beat SL however and We were 3 down in the first game with barely 20 or so runs on the board iirc.

Yeah I agree.

Ya me too.. I mean they are a good side and can defeat us, but playing them just doesn't make the match interesting.. Like playing against Pak and Aus.. For me,I would say matches against England,Pak, WI and Aus elicit more interest.. NZ and SL at a lower level.. Bangladesh after that..

Personally it'd be an honour to get the sound of Athar Ali Khan in my ears. What a legend!

India have won I reckon, I think Bangladesh's best bet would have been restricting India to around 300 and then started chasing.

Ganguly is a train wreck of a commentator

First he called Shabbir Rahman for 'Shabbir Ali' about ten times during that commentary stint. Then proving he has no idea what the different umpire signals mean. Ranting about Tamim running short, only to realise a couple of balls later that the umpire wasn't signalling short run but one bouncer for the over. On top of that he says 'I beg your pardon' twice every over. So out of his depth.

Tamim has gone from looking absolute shit to playing like Brian Lara.

Tamim has been in fine form, not surprising he's getting runs.

Ganguly on 2nd ball -"Kedar Yadav, I beg you pardon I mean Jadhav"
