ICC Champions Trophy 2017

Australia humiliating you guys in the final made up for the defeat.
I remember that final, probably Ponting's best odi innings, he absolutely clobbered the Indians.

Sad to see England lost. Really should've won this tournament.

Well done, Pakistan. Will be an intriguing final whoever they get!

Pakistani fans remembering Aussies matches in WC kinda sum up the superiority we've had over them in WC.

Indian fans remembering Pakistani group matches in WC kinda sums up their "winner" mentality.

Still better than remembering other team victories in WC matches.

If you prescribe to the scouser mentality yes, nothing wrong with that. Just not for me. The rest of us can remember and celebrate great innings which doesn't involve our teams as well like kohli innings against Australia in the last world t20 was my favorite knock of the tourney. But I suppose me liking that innings says something about the superiority of India over Pakistan. Right KM?

Yup, probably the best innings of the tournament. Was pretty fun to see after all the arrogance on display.

We werent that arrogant. And tbf, we had an amazing tournament. Shame we had to play one of the best teams around.

fecking hell.. Knew I jinxed England as soon as i typed about home advantage and their batting line up in this tread!!

Don't forget Gilchrist.. Man they clobbered us real bad that day.. Zaheer started off with a wide first ball.. Knew they were a bundle of nerves then but what followed by Ponting was something else..

You weren't celebrating great innings there were you? You said "Aussies humiliating India in the final made up for that defeat". That's not exactly celebrating the game or something else. Everyone enjoys getting their rivals beat but don't sugercoat with hollier than thou bullshit.

And yes, I find bilaterial ODI series pointless. I don't get hurt over getting defeated in Kitply series or whatever that was. Afridi's two sixes off Ashwin was a bad memory though.

Anyway this talk of India already in finals is pretty uncomfortable. We're not, Bangladesh is a great team. Bangladesh beating India is less of an upset than Pakistan beating England.
Agree. It's very finely balanced going into the game. If it's overcast and India bat first, will be very tricky as Bangladesh have a great seam attack for such conditions. Added to that, 3 Bangladesh batsman have each also scored centuries (tamim has scored 2!) on high pressure games.

Yup. Although mentally we do have an edge over Pakistan and Bangladesh(moreso after that Chinaswamy disaster).

Banter. Bantz.

Tsk tsk KM. Handbags.

I concur to your point though. Bilateral series just vanish from memory as soon as they're completed. Painting importance to them and downplaying international cup tournaments is not an valid concrete argument.

That said, for pure top class entertainment value I like Pakistan cricket team. Whether that be through their god given talent or their sheer tomfoolery, Pakistan cricket team has kept each one of us at the edge of our seats.

So yeah, If India get to the finals I wish for a competitive game. But ultimately a game that India wins.

Hey welcome back! How have you been?

And agreed I thought that was a weird thing to say about preferring bilateral series to ICC Tournaments but whatever.

Aye Gilchrist did his bit, but he did more damage against SL in 2007 he destroyed them. My favourite odi innings of all time.

That Aussie 2003 team was something else. Best ODI team I've ever seen. We had a pretty good team ourselves but were just blown away by them. Top three of Gilly, Hayden and Ponting. Phwoar.

Pakistani fans remembering Aussies matches in WC kinda sum up the superiority we've had over them in WC.

Wasn't just superiority, mate - It was domination. No wonder they get happy seeing other teams beat India since they haven't had that chance in a WC in a long time (never).

It was very similar to Pakistan in 99, had a good tournament but flopped in the final. Sachin was on fire though.

You don't get it mate, it's about enjoying the game apparently. It was almost Donald Trump-esque how he managed to change the argument.

Agreed, can't take this one lightly at all. I hope to see a good contest!

The embarrassment for England in ICC world tournaments goes on. Still the only test playing nation to not win a tournament outside of Bangladesh.

I take it you mean 50 over tournaments as we won the 2010 T20 world cup.

That's what broke my heart. And breaks it now in a repeating hellish scenario.

We'll beat England but lose in the final.

Meh, as everyone knows I'm the resident conspiracy theorist here. Not often you get the honour (aka kerching) to lose to India twice in one tourney. Really is the holy month for the Pakistanis. :wenger:

It's not finely balanced. India are going to win.
India may start favourites but it won't be a surprise If Bangladesh win.

In English conditions I rate Bangladesh seam attack more than India's plus their batsman are in as good form as India's.

Of course India remain the bully boy of sub continent cricket (they should be given their cricket heritage, size of population and huge financial resources!) but being favourites brings it's own kind of pressure. I vividly remember Yuvraj losing his nerve in the 2015 T20 final which cost India the title vs Sri Lanka.

If Bangladesh get into the game and have India under pressure, let's see how India respond.

Finally got to watch the highlights. Credit the Pakistan bowlers for limiting the scoring opportunities & then forcing England to either play poor shots or get them out with some very good bowling. Batsmen played some lovely shots & overall a very dominant performance.

Anyone blaming the pitch is just bitter. Both sides had to play on it, and Pakistan did it a lot better!

In 03, it wasn't all about Sachin though. Ganguly had 3 100s that tournament, Zaheer took like 20 wickets. I was very young but I still remember us absolutely destroying SL, England and NZ like they were nothing. All three got out for barely 150 iirc

Why are England Bottle jobs in every sport? They lack technical ability in every sport.
