If this was true, the swap between Lukaku and Icardi was already done by about 1 month or so…. the only clear fact here is that Icardi don't want to go abroad but Inter will never accept low offers from him, if you think that Inter will accept a ridiculous low offer from Juve or Napoli you have no idea of who Suning is…. just ask to Ramires when he was in Jiangsu.

As far as I remember, Icardi has scored 20+ goals per season in the Italian League. But he just scored 11 last season (still more than Rashford) and he played less games.

Icardi isn't upgrade. He takes shit loads of penalties. In the last 7 seasons Lukaku gas outscored him in 5 seasons when it comes to non penalty goals.
Lukaku is much better dribbler - completed 4x dribbles than Icardi and at much higher rate.
Better in aerial duels. Wins shit loads more and at better rate.

He is good penalty taker but this "natural born goal scorer" is a myth.

If he was a player who would instantly have us frightening the best teams it might be different... but he's not, and never will be.
No it's not. He's a great striker in the mould of an Inzaghi. You watch him play and see the runs he makes and the positions he gets into, he's possibly the best around at that. Inter don't always have the midfielders to find him and he's fairly uninterested in dropping back to help them.
Lukaku should be a better player than him but we seem to have signed an imposter. I'd happily swap them.

It is, when his league goals are from 15-18 from open play. That's as many as Lukaku. He is only a natural born goal scorer when he takes shit loads of penalties.
Also he doesn't drop back not because he is not interested, that's because he is limited player.
Lukaku had issues with adding too much weight and all that, still he scored more goals than Icardi last season and Icardi went 5-6 months without scoring a goal from open play. He scored 6 league goals from open play last season and his form was poor even before he was removed as captain.
Lukaku is better player and Icardi is a downgrade on Lukaku. Much better on and off the field.

You can write last season off for Icardi. He missed half of it and when he did play it was under a cloud. His own fault but it's not some injury that cant be recovered from.
I seem to remember you being a keen Serie A fan? Watching Inter live it's frustrating how little they manage to find Icardi. It doesn't show up on TV but he is constantly making runs off the defenders only for Vecino/Naingolan/Brozovic/Valero/whoever to pass it sideways and miss the opportunity. His chances have been particularly low because of that.
Contrast that to Lukaku who pretty much stands still until the ball comes to him and then it's pot luck whether he actually manages to control it.
