Jules Kounde is who we should be signing. Konate's injury issues is a concern considering Bailly who is a decent defender but unfit in most seasons.
The Caf has some weird fixations on physique. Players either need to bulk up to withstand the brutality of the Prem, or are too large to move quickly because they are muscular. Coming from someone watching NBA and NFL athletes, the latter especially is quite bizarre.
I prefer him over Upowhatshisname but his injury history and our track record with defenders staying healthy scares me.
Looks the part but his injury record is concerning. Would probably still be our best CB instantly.

Are the injury concerns genuine or has he just been unlucky in the past 2 years? Could be the deciding factor between him and Milenković.

I get where you're coming from man, I just don't think there as many big strikers to worry about these days, Kounde only lacks the height but has the leap, truth is though I'd not have concerns over Konate if it wasn't Maguire he'd be partnering.

Oh yeah, whichever CB we get I want them to be technically good on the ball as Ole is clearly keen for us to play out from the back, and Kounde and Konate are both quality in that aspect of their game. Pau Torres is an interesting option, not seen a lot of him but he's certainly quicker than you'd imagine and like with most Spanish CB's he's good on the ball.

Persnally think any of him, Varane, Kounde, Botman, maybe even Milenkovic or Carmo too is an upgrade on Lindelof
I haven't seen anything of Botman but have heard him mentioned a few times. What kind of a player is he?
Will be honest I don't know a massive amount about him myself but I am sure someone in this forum can give you a bit more of a background on what type of player he is. The way I see it he cannot be a bad player if someone like the scousers were looking to sign him in the January window.
There is at least one poster that is high on him, but there is so much discussion on CB‘s I don’t recall where his Sven summary was.
Maguire is best alongside a pacey partner as seen with Bailly so I think from what I’ve seen Kounde would be the best bet followed by Konate but in an ideal world we’d sign Kounde and Botman and get rid of Lindelof and Jones although I doubt that’d happen.

They over-played him as a teenager where he was thrust into the team after Upamecano was ruled out for the season. He then performed at such a high level that they couldn't drop him and he played every minute in the Bundesliga for them. He was then selected for France in the u21 European Championships and also played 5 games as a starting CB. And then with a short break he joined up with Leipzig for the new season who had a new Head Coach in place. And the consensus is that the volume of games he had to play without a proper rest in the close season contributed to him suffering a muscle injury which has caused him plenty of issues. But he did have surgery to rectify the issue for good and according to Julien Nagelsmann they're optimistic the surgery will be the end of his injury issues.

He's quick in a straight line but my concern is that Maguire's partner needs to get across the pitch to cover in behind him, Konate is mobile for his size but from when I've seen him I feel he'd struggle to get across the pitch to cover Maguire as he's a big unit and his speed isn't off the mark.

If any club decides to sign him they'll have the medical reports at hand to decipher through before making a decision.

Who would be your first choice then
The last thing we need is another injury prone defender however talented he is. Just stay away!
Typically I would disagree with these types of statements but I can't see how the club would pin their hopes on Konate, he's missed far too many fixtures throughout his professional career.
Kounde should be the priority.

My only concern with Kounde is his lack of height compared to most top CB's but you can't help but enjoy that goal he scored last night which was impressive, would take Ramos too if we were able to sign more than one but not if it's at the expense of someone younger and quicker.
