I think my PS3 is Dying

I've only played around 10-15 games on it. Which could be the reason why it's still in working order.

what's the best console to get then in terms of value for money, amount of games, high def blu ray etc and longevity

I have, I bought my PS3 in the middle of July, it worked fine for two weeks, I brought it back to Poland, it wouldn't work for more than 10 seconds at first and then it refused to work at all.

Did it actually work at all after you transported it, if not, then you can probably conclude its was down to a clumsy baggage handler or poor packing by yourself.

A possible user fix is for you too replace the hard drive.

Well it worked for the first few minutes and then decided to turn off. I tried to turn it on repeatedly but it wouldn't work for more than a minute.

I carried it in the same box I bought it in which can hardly be a reason for it breaking down. Had it been the reason, we would have seen plenty of cases where PS3 bought straight from the store is dead.

I will take it to my cousin next week when I'm home. He's into this kind of stuff, I once had some problems with my laptop that went exactly the same path i.e. first turn on for a little while and then shut down. They told me I'd have to pay £400 for fixing it at computer store which wasn't worth it at all, I gave it to him and he fixed it for me in like 3 minutes without even bothering to change any hardware.

On the other hand he once tried to repair a TV with a chewing gum, which ended with kind of an explosion. Weirdo.

So you kept it with you as hand luggage?
PS3's or other electrical items that are transported usually come in bulk in a larger padded box and are unboxed when they arrive at the store.

Yes, it was one of my two hand luggages.

I know, but people still buy it at the store and carry it home exactly the same way I did at the airport and they are hardly ever broken.

Ok, I was under the impression that you transported via the Airplanes luggage cabin and a handler may have dropped it etc..

Though if it was working before you departed and was dead on arrival then something clearly has gone wrong when you were transporting it, unless you have not used the correct A.C voltage convertor in Poland and it has short circuited.

Mine went potty last night for about 15 minutes, fan on full when playing Uncharted to get my last 4 treasures to get me the platinum medal. I thought that the missus was hoovering in the next room. Then it stopped, sort of like it thought "I need a spring clean in here", did its own hoovering, and then sat down on the sofa to watch the tele.

I have been having problems with mince recently. I have the 60gb, bought it on launch.

First problem came last week when Uncharted wouldnt load anymore. It hangs on the spinning coin screen at the very start.

I have cleaned the disc (no scratches on it), deleted and readded game data with the 1.01 patch. I have also taken off my save games. I have also tried disconnecting from the internet then launching it.

Last night, Resistance 2 wouldnt load - just hung. Tried it a few times before it worked.

Mines fine now, it went through a phase where it just would not load LittlebigPlanet, but one time after turning on my PS3 it asked me to reformat the ps3 or something along those lines and now it works fine.
