I genuinely think Beckham would be a great signing.

Beckham left United at the right time

That's all there is to say

If we are going to sign an ex-player, I've a better suggestion. :smirk:

Why does this thread come up every single year? It's a terrible idea. He's passed it.

Yeah why not. Scholes is back on the bench and Keane is in the studio.

To be honest, Scholes returning nullifies the majority of the points I made in the OP - he is a very similar fix to what I was suggesting.

All the things Scholesy will bring to the table are the same Beckham would have, so I feel pretty fecking vindicated right now you naysaying cnuts! :).

he was at our game today, are we going to bring him back as well ?

It's be legendary if we managed to field a team with Giggs, Scholes and Beckham in 2011. Now there's also a certain Nicky Butt plying his trade somewhere in Asia and he'd accept a deal too.

Not even fecking close.

Of course he could still do a job for us, his passing is still out of this world. If we need a goal he'd be a great option to bring on to create something. He could teach some of them how to cross mabey too. It wouldn't happen though, I'm happy with Scholsey for the rest of the season.

To be honest, if either one of our four wingers take a break from football like Fletch did, I'd consider Becks... But we've got four superior players that need game time so I'd doubt we'd be needing Becks...

Would love to see another Scholes testimonial ( As now I can go to watch the match LIVE ) and would love to see Becks play in it again.

Did no-one see Phil Neville sitting behind Becks btw?

The commentators made a show of naming all the old players that were back but neglected Phil.. poor Phil

YES!

Was it actually him? I said to my dad, "that's Phil Neville", then the commentators where all like "And in the same stadium are Keane, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs, what a team" and I was like "Well it looks like Phil".

It was Phil wasn't it?

While we are at it, we could use the same time machine to bring over Cruyff and sort out our creative midfielder problem.

Hmm, maybe not, but still miles ahead of Carrick and Anderson. We brought Scholes back, what kind of message does that send out?

Oh sod off, Carrick has been much much better this season. I think Beckham could do a job for us, but a) he would be purely a squad player (off bench, covering injuries etc.), and b) we need to give game time to Pogba and Morrison - not bring back faded idols. Scholes was already at the club, at training, and only left last season - little different to having been out for a few months with an injury.

I love Beckham, but he's not quick enough for our style of play on the wings anymore. Don't think he'd be up it to play in centre mid.

Imagine a midfield three of Scholes, Beckham and Carrick...

I'd feel sorry for Carrick, having to mop up behind them two all the time.

Fair enough Carrick has played better these last couple of weeks, but Beckham is still better, even at the age he is. Class is permanent.

Thought he quite China after having a horrible time on the pitch and has since retired. Could be mistaken...

Better yet - a midfield three of:

----------------Scholes---------------
-----------Becks-------Giggs----------

I've been thinking this since Scholes came on yesterday. Beckham would provide no support defensively though, I actually think you would need to swap Scholes and Beckham and let Scholes play pass and move whilst Beckham does the Hollywood passes excuse the pun. Even though he played a role similar to what you have there for LA, and can drift to the right.

It's hard to say unless it happened, but I think they would dominate against a lesser team letting the front 3 run riot.

As I have stated, I go to quite a few LA Galaxy games.

And you're wrong.

He's past it.
