A Portuguese radio (Rádio Renascença) has said today that Manchester United has a permanent observer on every Porto game and that Hulk is Sir Alex Ferguson absolute priority for the end of the season.

They didn't explain how they know it, but seemed very assured of the information they were giving. It's a respected radio around here and though they didn't quote a source I don't think it's totally bullshit. Yesterday I already had said that if he left it would certainly be the club I'd prefer him to go, considering I follow United a lot more closely since I joined the cafe.

:.: Hulk é prioridade para Man United - FC Porto - Jornal Record :.:

Now that Rooney is staying I think Hulk has missed his chance...

He's been pants when I've seen him play. Shot from distance constantly and was rubbish at it to boot.

I'm totally lost on "today's news", I can't sort my way on Rooney's new contract thread. What's been confirmed? He signed a new contract? Wants to stay for life again? Is it just to hold him until the end of the season and get a better price?

The Hulk is mediocre. Basically a headless chicken who boots the ball into the crowd twenty times a game.

It does seem that the new contract probably rules this out. I wasn't aware of that yet, that news was from 1pm today by the way.

But if Ferguson was following him due to knowing he would probably lose Rooney it would cease to make sense now.

He's crap. Porto bought him from a team in Japan. He would be a mid table level striker if he came to England.

Seems fit enough, but has he got the pace?

Your really convinced that he'll be off in the summer aren't you? :p

I thought he was a bullshitter 2 days ago. There's no reason I shouldnt think he's a bullshitter right now, just because unlike a few days ago when he was saying disrespectful things, he's now saying nice things.

We were in negotiations with Wayne and these days signing a contract is not always the end of the negotiations. Sometimes its part of the process. If Rooney did something he didnt want to do for 2 months, what are we going to do that we havent wanted to do?

Its going to be a long time till he can prove he meant any word of what he said today. So until next summer...

Fair enough. I still think the major reason he's had this change of mind is because of the media/fans/players/managers outrage. I think he must have known it would be bad but I don't he quite imagined that his comments and decision would spark such outrage. And moving to City would have only made it worse.

I know some people will say this is just like Ronaldo and we've given him a new contract just to get a fat transfer fee in the summer but somehow I just can't see it happening. I think the reactions genuinely shocked Rooney and he realized his already tarnished reputation was being absolutely ripped apart.

I expect him to be with us on September 1, 2011.

Eleven players on the pitch - how do they know its Hulk that we're watching.

I am pretty sure ronaldo signed his contract extension during the course of 2007/2008. The club gave him that contract because they wanted him to stay not just for the fat fee that we got until after 08/09. SAF was trying to keep him here the whole time.

It wasnt until after 07/08 that ronnie felt his mission was done here, he always wanted to leave eventually, but he set his date to leave after that night in May 2008. He had won everything and was gonna get the ballon d'or for his achievements.

its a pretty different situation if SAF just had rooney sign for a fatter check in the summer. SAF never would have wanted ronaldo to leave. AFTER all this crap with rooneys behavior and off pitch antics plus the lack of a healthy lifestyle, insulting players etc. (ronaldo didnt have any of this and he is a much superior player) SAF could have contemplated to offload rooney. Although I doubt it will happen since on form he is still our best player (although nani looks like he wants to be the talisman now) and he seems to want to make amends.

It would make for the most interesting headlines ;)

The media has a field day everytime Porto plays an English side

I think Hulk would be a good buy. He is a Valencia type player in the sense that he is not flamboyant but is really quick, freakishly strong and will get the job done. He has a killer left foot shot and his right foot shot is not bad either. We could use Anderson to swap with Hulk because Ando is keen on a move to Porto.

Hulk is a pile of shit you won't be signing him any time soon unfortunately.

This thread is useless without a video

Fodase grande Hulk Caralho!!! PORTO PARA SEMPRE!! AMO TE!:lol:

Better than Garrincha according to this video

He's fairly flamboyant. Doesnt mind doing a trick or two or smashing them in from 30 yards.

Hes really not very good, seen him a few times against us and Arsenal in Europe last season, very average control/first touch and a wild shot, his shooting from range is gibson esk in the sense 1 out of 10 will fly in and look amazing the other 9 will injury threaten stewards in the second tier.

Theres already 3 strikers at the club id say are superior to him for a start.

Please just no.

Yeap. He's a Brazilain "Bruno" Heskey.

Besides, we already got one in the team. Don't need two aussie rules type footballers.

I was watching Porto and I must say Hulk has matured quite a bit, much better decisions and all around play, and he could develop even more here, wouldn't mind at all us getting him.

All in all, he far from shit...

It's good at least to look towards the Portuguese/Spanish speaking players. The Brazilians+Nani seem to get along great. That kind of atmosphere can really help you out if things are tough. I'm sure if Nani was the sole Portuguese speaking person he'd be off the same time as Ronaldo.

He's had an impressive season so far no? Arruda?

I agree.. I hate when posters under value players when they have seen sweet feck all of him.. 3-4 games in a few difficult CL matches against big sides in high profile matches hardly equates to having properly seen a player..

I can't believe it hasn't been said yet...complete FM legend. Admittedly the few games I've seen him play in the CL have been fairly underwhelming, I think it's just a case of him having a very "pun friendly" name that the papers will use if they get a whiff of anything.

Is he good enough Arruda, do you think?
