How well are you handling the 'banter'/ribbing?

I'm the very first person sending messages to opposition fans after their poor results. So I have to take it on the chin. It's a brilliant part of football.

I recommend people to go full AFTV Ty, come with consipiracy theories that the refs are against us, that it was a close game could have gone either way, blame the grass. Even if you don't believe it, if your convincing enough it'll wind them up. Troll the trolls.

Shite. I had a mate yelling in my face all 7 times.
He was celebrating and accidentally punched my 2 year old in the head.
Life’s great.

I think you should ghost him for that alone.
Also punching your kid is bang out of order too.

My local team is 17th, I'm a Knicks fan as well, I've been through too much to let this get to me, we're still doing really well this season.

Its the fact that Chelsea fans are in on it too that triggers me.

I had a chat with my seven year old walking to school.

He said that he was going to get some jeering from his little school pals - I asked him what he was going to do?

He said - well United are still ahead of them in the table and we have a cup so I will remind them of of that and that United beat them at Old Trafford.
Dont worry be happy

My lad is 9, he says he will be getting loads at school from all the glory liverpool supporters who have picked Liveropool due to growing up with them being good.

I've told him to say, "Liverpool played great, incredible result and fully deserved to win. All the best against Real Madrid next week"

He can't seem to grasp that this is what they will hate to hear.

It is bittersweet.

Last year after the Liverpool games my brother genuinely said "sorry" both times.

Today he has been insufferable.

Goes to show where we are heading.

If you give it you should be able to take it. Otherwise you're just a bitch.

I don't give it, so no one bothers me when we get beat.

I do feel for the local fans though.

To be fair he was turning around and didn’t know she was walking behind him.
Just an all round shit evening

Ye the Chelsea fans were the first to start sending messages. My family a Leeds fans, a United loss is often the highlight of their week.

Obviously you have to take it, I've been laughing my ass of at my Chelsea friends and it's only normal if they laugh back at me now. Not sure how I'd handle it if I were to still go to the office, forced see the people there and find myself in situations where I can't avoid annoying idiots that happen to be supporters of the rival clubs.

I had chores to do. I walked in as they were scoring their 2nd goal and left shortly after the 3rd. I remember abandoning the Dirk Kuyt hat-trick game as well.

It's a difficult today but this is due to the Bin Dippers being the most despicable club & fan base in world football. The positive press they get is galling when taking into account their fans & players behaviour. Any other club in the world would be pariahs if they had murdering fans & openly racist players but this lot seem to be beyond reproach.

you should probably Log out and take the day off pal. When we get down to it Liverpool and United are the most similar clubs in the league and that’s one of the reasons the rivalry is so fierce.

You have to take your medicine on this one. Just keep the receipts from the people who stuck the boot in and return the favour next time their team takes a humbling.

Ya you have to be able to take it , I would be good to give it out as well when the shoe is on the other foot.

Today was more surreal than any other day I can remember , there is just nothing you can come back with , walking into work was like the walk of shame, the cans of 7 up left on the desk etc were of course expected.

The little legend. You can't be knocked when you're a kid can ya? Love it. Give me a bit of that mentality.

1 goal = each point they're behind us in the league

I'm getting it from all sides, taking it pretty well on the outside but I'm livid still. How the feck did we concede 6 in a single half. I'm really hoping from some statements personal wise from EtH. Some of these guys deserve to be dropped to the youth team for a couple of weeks.

I honestly dont really care. I am fuming over the result and the way our players let us down last night, but the banter from rivals fans doesnt really touch me.
This!

I don't really know any Liverpool fans so

Just had mine, and wow it was tame, as the scouser who I see is a realist and even how he's over the moon with 7, still said he was shitting himself in 1st half until they scored.

To score 7 the opposition is to blame , not the winning team.

We beat gunners 8-2 few years ago now and they were awful and UTD with moments of class, Same when we put 9 past Southampton they were bad we scored with every shot on target nearly ,same as yesterday the result is more about the losing team than the winning one.

We found out more by losing by 7 than by 1. Its still a loss.

Receiving bombardments of texts, calls, messages on WhatsApp, some from folk I've not heard from in ages. Not all intended to stick the boot in, but most are, however politely worded/goaded.

Reminds me of days in rival - or ABU - pubs where keeping your composure was essential.

I'm quite numb, so going through the polite motions hasn't been that difficult, but how's it going for you?

How about the self-reflection where you realise you're not quite the grown-up you masquerade as most days;l? More your triggers rarely get pressed so hard it's like you‘re tap-dancing across a minefield.
When you are old enough you understand how world works and actually don't care. I don't understand this focus on this loss. Yes, big numbers but we have lost big before. This just shows how big ABU movement is.

Helps that I never "banter" people's teams when they lose. I actually don't discuss much football outside social media, and even on social media I discuss fact and don't try to rile people up so I've not seen anyone do the same for me. That said, if you can give it then better be ready to take it. So it is what it is I guess.

Pretty used to it after all these years in the shits.
But today was brutal as it should, Luke Shaw can feck off with puppy sad face bullshit.

Hammered at work. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the historic nature of the thrashing (our worst result for 82 years). You just have to take your medicine.

Blocked everything blockable fot the next two weeks. Lord knows if I see even one jibe I might explode.

Got football tonight with at least 8 Liverpool fans. This is not gonna be fun. The Whatsapp chat was bad enough.

One of my friends is a Liverpool supporter.
He passed away in recently.
I wish he was here for the bantz though.

I preempted it and self-depreciated hard. It was no fun for others after that.

Even Blackburn fans and Wigan fans have been ripping me today. I mean come on ffs. Not only do they live in inbred backwater towns, they see us as some sort of rivals
That's because a lot of United fans live in those two towns.

I just ask them how many trophies have they won this season and tell them to jog on. Nothing can take away the glorious taste of the Bangkok Centenary Cup or that other one we picked up last week.

Im fecking ashamed of my club right now. Getting a lot of jokes about it, handling it with laugh as it's among friends but internally I'm more sad than angry.

Handling the banter surprisingly well.

If this was last year, LFC were challenging for the title, us fighting for 4th and this happened...I would be depressed for a week.

Reality is LFC are fighting for 4th, we have almost secured Champions League football and could still win 3 trophies.

Awful result but in the grand scheme of things, not that important.

I tend not to dish it out much or take the piss when we're doing well or when our rivals are doing poor, so thankfully wasn't too bad. Many of my friends and family are United fans, so thank god for that.

Water off a duck's back. We are still ahead of them in the table, and fingers crossed that Real Madrid dump them out of the CL in short order, then the laughing can resume.

Banter is all part of the game you take the rough with the smooth. A week earlier we were buzzing at a first cup win in 5 years.
Quite a crash in mood, it will pass. The main thing is the team learn a very big lesson.
Don't get carried away with your own hype. Stick to the game plan and put 100% effort in, even when you go 2 or 3 goals down. Never just give up and throw your toys out of the pram,

ps i have put a few certain facebookers on 30 day mute haha.
