How much these Manchester United Players should cost in Current Market

1. Darmian approx 12m £
2. Adnan Januzaj 8m £
3. Luke Shaw 18m £
4. Marouane Fellaini 12m £
5. David De Gea 55m £
6. Anthony Martial 35m £
7. Chris Smalling 8m £
8. Phil Jones 8m £

If Barca offered us £60m for Rashford tomorrow, would you tell them to get stuffed or snap their hand off and drive him to the airport? How about £80m for Bailly? Deal or no deal?

I'd like to think we would turn both down. Got to keep your best players!

A young striker like Rashford would cost the same or more to replace, better off keeping and developing him here.

Same for Bailly, he's going to get better and better.

The numbers are exaggerated but he's making a valid point. If Manchester United were looking to buy these players from other teams, you'd see those kinds of prices in the papers.

Because we almost always overpay. Either we don't judge the quality of the player right or we're desperate and everyone knows it.

It's neither of those, it's because we have the money to do it. When we're offloading our own players buyers know we don't need the money. When we're buying, sellers know we can afford whatever they care to ask for. It's just market economics.

But it does skew the caf's opinions of our players even further. If we saw the sort of prices we'd have to pay to get them quoted in papers all the time, it might offset the tendency on here to massively underrate what we already have and overrate potential targets elsewhere.

It's partly both of those. We do sell poorly but the likes of Fellaini, Darmian and co are not as good as this thread suggests.

For example, if Smalling played for Everton and they wanted us to pay 60 million, we wouldn't pay it. We'd haggle them down or look elsewhere.

There's bargaining for a good price, but also complete over valuation to deter bids. If we put Smalling on the transfer list for 60mil, we wouldn't have 1 offer. Likewise for the other valuations on this list.

That's why Messi would be valued at hundreds of millions, to deter bids.

I understand the logic behind his reasoning, I just think the valuations are too high and we wouldn't sell 1 player on the list for the prices he's quoted, bar maybe De Dea

1. Darmian approx 15m £
2. Adnan Januzaj 10m £
3. Luke Shaw 25m £
4. Maruan Fellaini 20m £
5. David DeGea 80m £
6. Anthony Martial 45m £
7. Chris Smalling 25m £
8. Phil Jones 15m £

Darmian 25-27
Januzaj 12
Shaw 35-45 (still delusionally considered a top level talent)
Fellaini 35-40
De Gea 80+ (personally I'd charge 100)
Martial 50 (Still a top level talent despite one poor season)
Smalling 30 (english and prem experienced. I actually think he'd go for 35 but because we know he's shite most people will think it's ridiculous)
Jones 30

Just looking at some of the fees demanded for the likes of Salah, Pericic and Morata (who isn't a regular starter), I was just wondering how much some of Manchester United Players should cost that are potentially on their way out of Old Trafford. We have a history of selling our players much cheaper in the past (Nistelrooy, Hienze, Chicharito, Wellbeck, Johny Evans all sold so cheap). I would say...

1. Darmian approx 35 £
2. Adnan Januzaj 20 £
3. Luke Shaw 35 £
4. Maruan Fellaini 40 £
5. David DeGea 70 £
6. Anthony Martial 45 £
7. Chris Smalling 60 £
8. Phil Jones 50 £
£355m...
And 50m for Jones.. . C'mon some of the prices are daft but that is totally crazy when you consider his injury record

That's a horrible joke.

Would you buy these players for a total of £355m?

You must be having a laugh:lol:

Darmian 35m?
Shaw 35?
Fellaini 40m?
Smalling 60m?
Jones 50m?

However, I would like that to be the prices you demand, as you will then keep them forever.

It would be more interesting to guess what some of your former players would cost in their prime. Players like Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Schmeichel etc. Now they would command enormous fees!

It was a serious thread and was meant for serious discussion. All you guys really underestimate United Players, I repeat that if a player like Lukaku who has one year left on his contract is being mentioned around 100 £, and If United were in for players of the likes of Shaw, Smalling and Jones etc. in transfer market, these should be their prices in the current market (At least).

Please don't disrespect United Players, especially Smalling and Jones, they have been part of the best Defence in the Premier League over the past 2 years, (Even though Jones has played half of Premier League matches this season and only 10 last season).

You are deluded.

I think Mourinho will show patience towards both Shaw & Martial as they have both shown world class potential (and my heart is going to break if they won't fulfill it  ).

For Smalling, his 2 greats seasons under LVG (I don't want to start and argument about this, I think he was immense under the Dutchman) warrants the 30 million.

By the way, the only one I can see leaving this summer from this list is Januzaj (maybe Darmian & Smalling too, but looking at our injury records -especially at the back- , it wouldn't be wise to offload them).

I've mentioned this on another thread before. I think Smalling is a great tackler, but a poor reader of the game. Under a compact highly defensive team he thus looks better as spends more time tackling less time reading the movement of players.

This is ultimately why Mourinho wanted Lindolf

I often get a lot of stick for my valuations, people saying I'm from the 90's and such bullshit. We're a huge club and our players should be sold for huge prices. These are really honest and fair prices according to me.

1. Darmian £17m
2. Adnan Januzaj £13m
3. Luke Shaw £21m
4. Maruan Fellaini £27m
5. David DeGea £65m
6. Anthony Martial £30m
7. Chris Smalling £25m
8. Phil Jones £17m

7. Chris Smalling 8m £
8. Phil Jones 8m £

This sounds about right to me.

I can understand how the OP has been led to believe the figures posted for those players because actually, for example, Jones is a better defender than Stones and Mangala and both cost ridiculous money

However, the first problem is that you have to factor in potential, longevity and also resale value

Secondly, you have to consider who would be in the market for these players. I expect the likes of Smalling and Darmian would only really be of interest to upper mid-table clubs and below and these kind of clubs just don't spend £50m on CBs/RBs

Harry Maguire just went to Leicester for £17m. I would say on that basis, given that they are both English, both should have 6/7yrs left before they start to decline and both have good International/CL experience then £30m to a club like Everton/Southampton/Leicester isn't a daft expectation

More realistic though is once Jose decides a player is surplus to requirements we don't want to waste any time and are happy to accept a lower fee for a quick sale.
