How excited are you?

I predict next season is going to suck balls. We won't have been able to do nearly enough in the summer to get the dickheads out and appropriate players in and ETH will be stuck with a squad that refuses to adapt and throws tantrums when things aren't done the want they want it to be. He'll try implement his style of play and they don't bother to do it and we'll probably be shite and struggle for top four because Arsenal and Spurs are bound to improve.

The next season is when I'm hoping for some real progress under him, when he's hopefully had enough time to build a squad to suit his football and get rid of all these wankers.

So yeah, maybe I should go on a year long holiday, but yet I'm still excited, in a weird way.

I think we all know by now its not so much the manager but the way the club is run.

With ETH in, Ed Woodward out, Ralf as consultant (who now has first hand experience of being the manager at OT) and best of all if the Glazer's stay in the US and let these new guys do the business for them.... then yes I am feeling a bit more upbeat... but excited, no not really!

I am excited. This hopefully will be different to recent years and it will be nice to see the back of some players who has been a complete waste of space.

Not very tbh. This should be the most exciting managerial change we've made, but the last season has killed any spirit or belief I had in the club
Same. I’m a broken man. Don’t have to energy to argue with people anymore either and this forum is incredibly divisive. Hopefully Ten Hag can unite the fanbase abit more.

I am cautiously excited but I would feel more excited if signifcant changes at the football board level are made, which are logical changes. Seeing all the dickheads in our playing squad being binned off would be great too. I feel like we’ll still have some of the dickheads next season but they‘ll hopefully be in smaller numbers and therefore more manageable. Maybe they’ll even come round to the ETH way before we excommunicate them.

It seems like a promising start, but there is so much else that needs to be done for this ship to be righted that it's no more than that - a start. My main worry is if Murtough has the savvy and power to reshape the quality of the organisation throughout, and align with a clear footballing vision. Then, if we have the will to weed out whoever doesn't fit or buy into that vision in the squad. Then if we have the scouting to support that. Then if we have the dealmaking capacity get it done.

I must say I've undergone pretty much a collapse in confidence. Not that long ago, I still thought that we weren't that far off in terms of the quality of the squad. I don't really think that anymore.

What I would really like to see now is humility, on all sides, including supporters. We're not a great club. We're a shit club. There's absolutely no reason why we should win the PL next year, or in two years. All those titles under Busby and SAF, the years of dominance, they mean nothing. They have nothing to do with what United is today, and nothing to do with what we'll be in two or five years. We squandered that, it's gone, dead, just ancient history. This club needs to reinvent itself, start over, it's zero hour. We have no cause for pride, no tradition that sets standards, no claim to greatness. All of that is now an obstacle, an encumbrance, not an asset. And the sooner we all realise that, the better, because then the club can get down to the real work, which is the daunting task of building a new great tradition to replace the one we allowed to wither away. (Fortunately, we still have the most indispensable ingredient, loads of money).

I’m really excited about getting players out. Just getting rid of 8-10 of these lot next season would be considered a successful season for me.

I’m really hoping ETHis ruthless in that area.

Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Cavani, Matic all have expiring contracts so that's 5 inevitably a few more will leave. Each to their own but I'm hoping we actually do something on the pitch as opposed to just getting rid of players and calling it a successful season.

Quite. I think we’re far off winning anything but I’m excited to see how the team and squad can take shape. That’s dependant on a good summer transfer window though.

I'm jolly excited. He sounds like some OCD task masker - that will sort the wheat from the chaff. Just what we need at the moment. There is a podcast on BBC with an ex-player of his.

Pep, to larger extent Klopp seem likable - but I think that is the public persona when they win. I think they are OCD task masters - Did you see Klopp yelling at VvD for one missed placed ball control when they were 2 - 0 up. Not the happy smiling chappy he is for the cameras when they have won.
Jose lashed out at our defenders when they were playing "PlayStation football" as he said, at the time with our 3-0 lead against West Ham as well. We went on and won that game 4-0.

It's all looking very promising. Trying not to get too excited though.

We both have the same goal, but I think getting rid is a prerequisite. You need to tear down to build in this case.

From the latest briefings around Ten Hag's vision for United, he might not necessarily agree though.

Not much, I'm afraid ETH will spend the next season trying to accommodate Ronaldo and Bruno.

My excitement died with Greenwood case. We don't have any standout players now, massive number of players are leaving and I have zero faith in recruitment in this club.

The coaches are almost set up to fail by a recruitment department that focuses on commercial signing to create shock waves. In case of LvG, I believe his story at United would have been entirely different story if he was given quality midfielders and ball playing CB instead. At least his possession football wouldn't have been so toothless and boring.

There's little to be excited about until the recruitment begins to look like it matches both standard of a club like United and the vision of the manager.
This.

I'm excited to want to watch a United game again. I can barely stomach the energy for the past 2 months.

LvG, a coach who wanted for his team to have possession and control of the ball, got given big name attacking players like Di Maria and Falcao while made to play with a defense that had almost no ball playing capabilities and midfield of Fellaini and Schneiderlin.
I remember a match in which he forced Rooney and RvP to play midfield in order to get a goal.

Our recruitment has been poor.

But you can't tell me that signing Sancho, Varane AND Ronaldo in one summer was "commercial".

All 3 were touted as among the best players in their respective positions. All 3 have won trophy after trophy after trophy.

But football isn't played individually.

We just aren't a team.

Newcastle are only 11 points behind us. Their squad is arguably in better shape going into next season and will probably outspend us. That excited.

Not very until he clears out some of this rabble causing toxicity in the dressing room

I finally got a season ticket so I’m happy about that. Probably indicative of the quality team that I only got one cause we’re now complete shite, but maybe next year will be better. :D

Cautiously optimistic. I’ve got a lot of confidence in his abilities. Less so the structure around him.

We need to shift a lot of dead wood and from experience with this club I know how bad we are at doing that. I could easily see him being stuck with a few toxic players next season or failing to shift players to raise funds and then having to loan them out at last minute.

Yeah so much deadwood still cluttering up the place and sadly Erik can't shift all of it one summer, so some will unfortunately survive the cull and stink up the place.

I'm really excited for United to be honest, without any illusion there will be some massive growing pains, but they are relinquishing control to a manager completely this time, it's a new philosophy and it will be exciting to see how this huge gamble pays off. It might be a terrible experience for you guys, but I can't deny it's exciting to see how it plays out. When you have Ragnick talking of open-heart surgery for the changes needed, you know you're in for some radical changes if ETH follows through on his recommendations.

I’m excited because for the first time in years, we can actually get rid of all the dead wood in the summer.

For the first time I can see light at the end of this long long fecking tunnel!

Not all of it I am afraid

Yes i am quite excited for next season. Look at what Newcastle have done, changed manager, spent £100m and took a team that had won one game by Christmas into the top half in the league. There's no reason that we can't see similar improvement with a new manager and sufficient investment. Ole wasn't a good manager and really if rangnick was, he wouldn't have been managing in Russia when we got him. Ten Hag seems like a great manager, obviously managing United will be a big test but given the improvement in managerial ability and the money we can spend, we should be a lot better next year

I'll be honest - mega excited.

I was gutted when we offered Ole a new contract (I wanted him gone after the EL final), and was equally gutted when Bayern snapped up Nagelsmann as I was desperate for us to replace our hopelessly out of depth manager with a proper, modern manager with an eye for attacking football.

Watching Ten Hag's Ajax I honestly thought it would be a pipe dream for us to go for him, and fully expected us to go all in for Poch, Ancelotti or feckin Brendan Rodgers when we finally looked like sacking Ole. Never actually expected we'd actually appoint him.

And dare I say it, I think the club are actually beginning to make proper footballing decisions for once. Bringing in Rangnick, binning our scouts and using data analysis to appoint a manager instead of going for a known quantity like we'd always done.

Think there is a possibility Nagelsmann may manage us one day as still really young

Not excited. Nothing against ETH, just the club seems rotten on the inside.
We`ve tried 5 different managers, different CVs and styles, but all got more than decent careers apart from Ole. Club has bought tons of players to support them, and still, all have looked like absolute frauds.

Honestly believed that this season was going to be special. Finishing second in the prem and then adding Varane, Ronaldo and Sancho in the summer should by all known maths add up to a proper title challenge. But instead they all completely forgot how to play football. Maguire was decent for us last year and arguably our best defender, and then something happens and now he can`t even get the basics right. Rashford is another one, he has gone from being one of the most exciting young attackers in the world to someone who can`t make two good decisions in a row to save his life. Bruno was a revelation when he arrived. Seemed like the best addition to the squad in ages. Now nothing happens for him on the pitch. All look more or less miserable these days.

Haven`t got a clue what is going on behind the curtains at the club but whatever it is, it seems to suck the joy out of everyone involved. Erik needs to be the second coming to even stand a chance of turning this old ship around.
But i will watch and hope for a miracle.

Nope even with those signings I was utterly underwhelmed due to no midfield signings yet again

Varane and Ronaldo are not good signing for a struggling club like United. Varane is injury prone. Ronaldo, well, he doesn't address the areas of major concern in the team. So yeah, it was not a well planned, well executed, well scouted tranfer window.

You can argue both Ronaldo and Varane were snapped up because they are big names without a lot of thought going into injury records, teams playing style, the areas of concern in the team.
