Which of the appointments after Fergie made you the most excited about the future, and I'm talking about the moment when United announced new manager? Is it Ten Hag or was it someone before him?

When they announced Moyes as SAF successor I was more depressed then delighted. Sure, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but not even the slightest part of me believed that this guy can do the job here.

Then, with LVG I really looked forward to it. I wasn't super horny, but felt like under Louis we got a chance. He had charisma, experience, great track record and I thought that he would take us back to the top.

Next we hired Mou and I couldn't be happier at the time. I loved the guy and always wanted him at OT, he seemed like he was made for this club. We just won FA Cup with LVG, had decent squad and I was certain that the only way would be up. For me definitely most exciting appointment.

When we made Ole full-time manager we were really flying high and I fell for it. I thought when he would sign right players and implement his ideas he can bring success back, however, I had doubts about how he would deal with poor results when they eventually come. But yeah, I could say i was happy about him.

Now with Ten Hag there is more hope for the better then excitement for me. I don't know what to expect from him, our board and staff. After last 9 years I don't want to be disappointed again, so I look at this new era with faith but also a lot more uncertainty then before

Very.

I'm excited to see what our plan is to turn this around. I'm excited to see what ETH can do to our players, and the attacking football we'll be playing. And I'm very excited to see what wankers we'll be getting rid of at the end of the season

I’m really excited about getting players out. Just getting rid of 8-10 of these lot next season would be considered a successful season for me.

I’m really hoping ETHis ruthless in that area.

I was the most excited when LVG announced Di Maria, Falcao, etc. I thought we'd smashed it.

I have a semi at the very least. Maybe it will grow some more if the new boss gets to cull the squad.

I think this is the first manager I have genuine hope that he will help us get back to the levels that is expected of Man United. But I don't expect any miracles and will be happy to see gradual progress over the years.

I’m excited now absolutely.

I think actually the Mourinho appointment was the height

It is difficult to get excited after so many times of excitement ending in disappointment. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing/hoping on a lot of changes in the next 24 months.

I'm excited because we'll be going on a new adventure.

I'm not excited because I'm expecting success. Basically, our board snubbed a control freak that's capable of doing everything by himself pretty much (Conte), then appointed a manager that's been successful working under a smarter hierarchy. I don't see ETH magically improving our recruitment or scouting.

Great coach, yes. Manager? Don't know.

I know I'll back him for a more than a year regardless of results (including relegation). Feck (some of) these players.

Not very tbh. This should be the most exciting managerial change we've made, but the last season has killed any spirit or belief I had in the club

This is the most exciting manager since fergie left… this is something new and fresh. We’re bringing in a manager who can build a club and can set a certain style of play, the most impressive thing is though he’s been playing attractive football with a very young team… he’s demolished the likes of Dortmund and Madrid. Bringing in 3/4 players in the summer who can have an instant impact will be massive for us. Obviously we need more players then that but we can’t get them all in one window. Step by step we need to improve. He needs to start by getting us a clear identity and playing consistent, he also needs to improve the players already at the club who he wants to keep. Soon as he’s through the doors he should hold a team meeting and say to them if there’s anybody here who doesn’t want to be here then there’s the doors. Everybody who does want to be here needs to buy into his vision and plans for the club and then all work towards that goal. Next season is going to be massive but it’s a new era… Let’s gooo! #MUFC #GGMU

Cautiously optimistic. I’ve got a lot of confidence in his abilities. Less so the structure around him.

We need to shift a lot of dead wood and from experience with this club I know how bad we are at doing that. I could easily see him being stuck with a few toxic players next season or failing to shift players to raise funds and then having to loan them out at last minute.

First time I've been excited by a managerial appointment. That being said, I think it's a fecking massive risk.

Have to admit, when we announced Jose, that was something else.

Still can't believe we managed to break him.

But i do have a wicked feeling Erik could be the one to get us the first title post Sir Alex.

Very happy to see us getting a proper coach and a young modern tactician who is up there with the best. Someone who will sack the lazy players on the spot if he needs and am really happy to see a proper sporting team behind him.

LvG excited me until I saw his football and for the first time ever I was sleeping throughout the game. I actually perfected the art of sleeping 75-80 minutes and waking up for the exciting time left

Mourinho I was dead against from day 1 tbh, and was funny on Pogba too I think. Was happy to see him loose his shit and Ogs replace him.

Looking forward to it but I have some caution. 4 out of the last 5 managers have all complained about certain structural aspects of the club being sub-par. Is this structure really going to change? We'll see :nervous:

United have kicked the shit out of my emotions over the last few years- (even drilled them into the ground like a tent peg this season) so although I’m happy we have a new manager, I’m mildly optimistic at the moment. Too many false dawns have happened before for me. I really want this fella to do well but it’s a massive task. He has a mish mash of previous managers players and mistakes. He’ll definitely need to make it his own team. Let’s see if he’s given the time to do it.

Fully expect it to all fall apart at the first chance. On a scale of 1-10 for excitement, I'm probably a 1.

Same here really.

This is the most excited I've been, I rated haf very highly since that 2019 ucl run and I never thought we land him .
The club is in a sea of shit though so I should probably Temper my expectations.

Very excited as I think this is the best appointment we could have made. It is a much riskier proposition than someone like Pochettino, but the rewards are also greater. The one thing that has plagued my view of United is that we are not a technical team. Our passes are too often badly hit in terms of both power and direction. I'm tired of seeing opponents just ping the ball around effortlessly while our lot need 3 touches every time, especially in midfield and defense. You need a world class coach to improve those things and I rate EtH highly as a coach. If he can make us look like a football team, I'll be happy regardless of whether he reaches the heights of PL/CL.

This is also the first time when it's not just new coach but apparently we're changing the whole football structure. Previously it was another manager but the incompetence above him stayed the same. So at least that's something to be excited about

I’m excited because for the first time in years, we can actually get rid of all the dead wood in the summer.

For the first time I can see light at the end of this long long fecking tunnel!

Similar.

Until I see evidence that the club is genuinely interested in change, I don't see any point in getting giddy.

I'd like to see Ten Hag backed, the squad reshaped. What I actually expect is United to slap unrealistic prices on our wantaways and selling nobody, taking ages to sign anyone and end up getting Dybala on a free on deadline day on £300k a week and giving new deals to players who don't deserve it.

To be honest, he’s the managerial appointment I’ve been most excited about including Fergie!

Looking forward to the clearout and then a team that wants to play for the manager and the club.

I don't remember the last time we hired successful managers who were not fired from their jobs and are in the process of winning the leagues and playing exciting football.
I feel like United seems to settle for second-best managers

Jose was fired from Chelsea for poor results and had a history of clashing with the squad and board.

LVG could not get jobs at the top club anymore, he was managing Dutch National teams at the time.

Moyes was managing at Everton, I doubted whether he was the right manager for United. Many people I know were not keen on him becoming the manager.

Ole came from Molde in the Norwegian league to take over United as interim coach, but we didn't expect that he'd get us to go on a crazy winning streak and play exciting football at times. We had to settle for him because I think the board might fear backlash from United fans. I was unsure about him, but he deserved a chance to show what he could do with us, sadly it didn't work out as we all would hope.

Now on to Ten Hag, this is an exciting appointment as I'd say, but I'm very optimistic with the way it goes. United is improving their club structure off the pitch by employing more football people in a role such as DOF, technical, and Rangnick will become a consultant. I don't think we could ask for anything better than this.

Wait, we broke Mourinho?

First time I heard something like this.

Anyway from 1 to 10, 6. Still careful cause of all the shit which happened since Fergie retired but it is exciting.

I'm jolly excited. He sounds like some OCD task masker - that will sort the wheat from the chaff. Just what we need at the moment. There is a podcast on BBC with an ex-player of his.

Pep, to larger extent Klopp seem likable - but I think that is the public persona when they win. I think they are OCD task masters - Did you see Klopp yelling at VvD for one missed placed ball control when they were 2 - 0 up. Not the happy smiling chappy he is for the cameras when they have won.

I’m trying to suppress the excitement until I see what our player turnover is like over the summer.

I'll be honest - mega excited.

I was gutted when we offered Ole a new contract (I wanted him gone after the EL final), and was equally gutted when Bayern snapped up Nagelsmann as I was desperate for us to replace our hopelessly out of depth manager with a proper, modern manager with an eye for attacking football.

Watching Ten Hag's Ajax I honestly thought it would be a pipe dream for us to go for him, and fully expected us to go all in for Poch, Ancelotti or feckin Brendan Rodgers when we finally looked like sacking Ole. Never actually expected we'd actually appoint him.

And dare I say it, I think the club are actually beginning to make proper footballing decisions for once. Bringing in Rangnick, binning our scouts and using data analysis to appoint a manager instead of going for a known quantity like we'd always done.

Moyes - WTF seriously?
LVG - Hhmm ok he hasn't done anything or note for ages but ok
Mourinho - ok here we go we're gonna win the league
Ole - Hhmm ok I guess he deserves a crack

Those were my thoughts at the time of each managerial appointment

With ETH it's a mix of excitement with him being the first up and coming coach we've hired post Fergie, a tinge I hope he's not our Frank de Boer and a lot of 'the clubs cursed it doesn't matter who we appoint' but yes I'm excited for this season to be over and the planning for the next to start

Excited and nervous

if we feck this up then I don’t see a way back for a generation

Best word to describe my feelings right now is hopeful. Depending on how the summer window goes I might become excited.
