"Home Grown" players at City

Wow, they can really easily end up with only Hart as sole English player.
And even he wouldn't be a sure starter with him having his lapses/errors and Callabero being a decent reserve. For a support base/club who love to harp on about how much agenda there is against them, I really haven't seen much of a song or dance made about this.

Do they actually have any homegrown kids knocking on the door for the first team yet? Their U21's lost the other night to Chelsea I saw on Sky, and what is the point of Patrick Viera role of this 'head of development elite squad'.

At least they're almost getting over their splurge and hope transfer tactic.

Really shame what has happened to Richards career. People forget he was their first choice RB during that first title run until an injury late in the season.

We've been over it for over a year now, we've had two excellent summers on the bounce now the new executive team running the club is in place - spent less than United since 2011, too.

The home grown rule means feck all unless you're forced into fielding some of them.

I rated him as a RB. Rumours has it he's a United fan, maybe we can lure him over here for cheap, we could do with another CB/RB to be honest.

Aye a player who's even more of a crock than our current defenders. Just what we need.

Until City become ultra-fashionable and start to really reach the status the crave, their focus will always be more on the here and now.
If they now have a decade or so of huge success, they'll be established enough to start focusing on English youth as longer term 'projects'. I'd assume that's the plan anyway.

In their current state and current standing as a club, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they focused on price-inflated English players just to be 'good' for the game.

Whereas PSG have no excuses, as their league is a stroll already, they should be fielding French players amongst their star names. Though it would reduce their chances of doing well in Europe, so I guess they could argue that in the immediate future.

Marcos Lopes, Karim Rekik, Jason Denayer and Emyr Huws are the academy products most likely to make a breakthrough next season; all are out on loan at the minute.

Apparently, Pellegrini wants to get rid of Sinclair and Richards.

That would leave them with...

As has already been mentioned, there are very few English players who would add anything to City's squad and those who would do are either unattainable or going to be vastly overpriced.
