High-profile killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO in New York

There is soo much wrong with this. Not that anyone liked Adams before but this really shows how corrupt he is and how unacceptable the US criminal justice system has become. This isn't terrorism and if the mayor is showing up here he should be showing up for every single murder trial in the city because the average person murdered should be every bit as important, if not much more, than a corrupt and shady CEO.

 the lad literally assassinated someone, what are you on about?
Do you know anything about the "innocent" man that was assinated and what he represented?
You know the dude he shot didn’t work for a pharma company?
Either one of you a victim of the American Healthcare system? Has anyone of you had to watch your relatives die because insurance denied a claim that cost someone their life?
How much do you two pay for health care?
Do you know how many people die in the US because of a failed health care system?

I dunno why you’re firing so many questions at me. I understand why he was shot. I’m just pointing out he didn’t work for big pharma. Nobody has ever assassinated the CEO of a pharmaceutical company.

Have I said a single thing about the guy killed? You can't just decide someone isn't a criminal because the person they killed was a cnut.

Could be a rare entry in the category of “sequels that were better than the original” though, amirite?

You know, I actually don’t think so. I think there’s a near unanimous frustration (in the US anyway) about how insurance is so expensive and obstructive when people try to claim. There doesn’t seem to be any upside to these companies. Pharma companies do at least invent new drugs. Like all capitalist corporations everything they do is for profit but I don’t reckon they’re as universally hated as the insurers. I reckon fossil fuel CEOs would probably be the next most popular target. They should be anyway. Them or the CEO of a company that makes assault rifles. But yanks do love their guns and gas guzzling cars…

That's not the fault of any particular individuals and certainly not the CEO of a company

This killer was apparently from a wealthy family so it's doubtful he or his relatives were directly a victim of the system, he shouldn't get a pass because people hate pharma CEO's

Martin Shkreli says hi.

Also whoever sets the price of insulin in the US at over 10x anywhere else in the world.

You're preaching to the wrong congregation.
He's not as innocent you're making him out to be. He represented a toxic industry and as the CEO he was fully aware of every tactics and shady reasoning his company used to deny healtcare to those who desperately need it.

They're all the same. I was under the impression that United healthcare had it's own pharmaceutical subsidiary but I could be mistaken. The entire pharmaceutical and health care system in the US needs reform. What they've been allowed to do is beyond criminal but you don't see any authorities pushing for them to take responsibility for all the deaths they are directly linked to. It's a farce and they'll get no sympathy from the majority of the American people.

2 wrongs don't make a right

Politicians have the power to change the healthcare system, they have the power to change the gun laws and pretty much anything else that affects our lives, they don't because of the very same tactics, motivations and reasonings, should we be allowed to assasinate them as well and not be thought of or prosecuted as criminals?

Like I said, he's not innocent and him and his kind will get no sympathy from me and the majority of Americans share my sentiment. Next.

I really believe one juror will hold out.
Juror No. 2 be like

Looking at polling, they basically need to strike out anyone under 30 or 40 (and of course people with chronic dealings with insurance) and they'll get their 12 convictions.

Spoken like a true big pharma sympathizer.
