Herrera confirms his departure

Shitty way to treat him. Shambolic more like. But he won't be missed. Although I'd rather have sold half the squad before him.

So? The club has a translator. What a stupid reason.

Firstly it's hardly going to make the same impression is it
Secondly you say it's a stupid reason but I think it's stupid that a players who's played in England for well over 10 years can't speak English

Such a bizzare post. This has nothing to do with Valencia being a very good player and great servant for us.

I wonder if there's been a falling-out behind the scenes, or some kind of indiscipline by Valencia.

Yeah maybe. Not sure what happened as Ole said he was injured but he was playing for his NT. Hopefully he will get better send off.

Think this is harsh and I see him more as a 7/10 player who at least puts in the effort and seems to care about the result, but the point still stands.
the way we as a fan base allow the media to bait us is embarrassing. we are in a low point, an overall poor squad with a few stand outs but anybody triggered by such blatant fishing needs their head looked at.

look at the coverage of our rivals, some who’ve currently won nothing under their managers & you’d think they’d dominated the english scene for the last 30 odd years.

stop buying into it people, are issues are bigger than herrera, & bigger than a journo with an axe to grind.

Seems you find a lot of things bizzare. What's really bizzare is you can't understand the answer to your question which was and I quote

'It's absolutely bizzare that the club is making him seem look like a legend whereas Valencia is seemingly getting shunted out with nothing'

Valencia is getting shunted out with nothing because he can't deliver a message to the fans because he can't speak English. Yes there are ways around it like using a translator but again it's not going to have the same effect

Yeah, this is such a stupid reason. I'm not surprised that you've think of that.

The club have used a translator a lot of times when interviewing new signings too. It's not having the same effect, it's about rewarding a loyal servant.

It wasn't some sort of video where Herrera was talking infront of Camera. It was his voice in the background. Not hard for Valencia to say few sentences.

Really? Staff are allowed to throw out insults now? Isn't insulting other members an offence?

Every day that passes increases my anger towards Ed Woodward.
For the full set, he should get Mata (a player who is not MUFC quality) to sign a new contract.

I'm beginning to think that I am the only one who is angry at Woodward's constant screw ups. This should've been our title year, instead, he did nothing in the transfer market last Summer, he demotivated the manager which got us 2nd and was desperate to win the league, to a point where simply gave up. In the process, LFC and MCFC are competing for hte title, while we face a failed season.

He then allowed the Jan transfer window to pass, which was a good time to re-enforce, to ensure we got top 4. Then he renewed contracts for players who should've been released - not sold, but released, because nobody would pay any money for these men.
Now he is letting our best players leave the club.

Fans need to take stock and understand what is happening.
I am livid that so few are calling out Woodward, while giving our players and manager flack!
While Woodie remains our DoF, our on pitch performances will decline.

We cant do anything with Woodward as long as the Glazers are there. Im sure many of us share the same sentiments with you but what can we do about it? Protesting at games? Boycotting of official social media accounts? All these aint gonna get Woody sack in all honesty. We all along know that Woody has to take alot of responsibility for the state we are in but shit only got real when Jose publicly declared that he wasn't backed.

In truth, i think we only gave LVG more flak for the way he made us doze off at games. I think most of the supporters still stood by Jose, despite his style of football, in his final few weeks and those blaming Ole now is just pure idiots. Most of our players are just purely shite the past 2 months. Is there a possibility that Ole tatics had been found out in these 2 months? Maybe. But the performance at Everton was utterly embarrassing. I am proud to say that I've never turned off a United game on my own will in the past 15-20 years. Everton was the first time i switched the channels at halftime. LVG's football was tough to watch but you could at least see some effort in the players.

Actually by appointing Ole, there's a slight chance that this might blow up in the face of Woody as well, so I'm pleased. Ole's a club legend, everyone knows he loves the club and puts the club first. He has a huge support among SAF and many former players/legends. Imagine if he does what Jose did and publicly says that Woody didn't back him in the transfer market. Woody got away with that during Jose's time because there were still some that didn't think Jose was a United manager, hence it was easy for Woody to sack him. If things get rough now, Ole will be the only one standing.

Maybe Valencia could use finger puppets.

Herrera did a sit down 8 minute interview with the website which was posted a few pages back

I’m actually gutted. One of the only players who seemed to actually give a shit and he works his cock off as well.

I’ll miss Ander, real shame.

Good player but hardly irreplaceable.

On the face of it, no, and nor should Henderson & Milner for Liverpool, but utilised correctly they are highly effective players for the team, same applies to Herrera. Unfortunately he's been shunned aside in favour of plodders like Fellaini and Matic for most of his time at United

His ability to tackle and start counters is incredibly underrated. He'll be sorely missed for the style Ole wants to play.

This irks me in the same way losing Rafael did. We're losing the little passion we actually have in the team and it's hard to replace.

This is someone who I thought was captain material. Could be the engine in a better side.

I don't begrudge a player looking out for their own interests. Wish you the best Ander, go get that money!

Shambolic management from us though. This is why a DoF helps.

I don't know why you keep bringing Jones into Herrera's contract situation, it's got absolutely nothing to do with Phil Jones why he's leaving. Anyone that doesn't want to be here, isn't committed to the cause and won't try their best (however limited they are) doesn't have a place at our club.

We are talking about human beings here with their plans, anxiety and feelings. When someone works hard for his company week in week out then he shouldn't wait till the end of his contract to be given a contract renewal. That's disrespectful. Now if the employee in question is so lousy that no one wants him then he has no choice but to sign anything thrown at him. However someone like Herrera doesn't need this drama.

Now lets have a look at our situation. We lost a valuable player who suited our game for nothing. That means he'll need replacing. That's already bad in normal circumstances but its almost tragic at a time when you can almost count our talented players on one hand.

The club need to be decent with players while concurrently be more cynical. If a player has 2 years left at his contract then we have to decide whether he's good enough to be given a new contract or not. If he's not good enough at that point in time or he refuses to sign a new contract then he should be sold. No ifs, no buts.

Not exactly how I thought a clearout would start...

Thank You for everything, especially for telling Mkhitaryan to haul his ass in the box to secure Champions League football for United.

Passion, heart and guts. For me he was our most complete midfielder. I loved his touch, his excellent reading of the game, his intelligence on the ball. And natural born leader. I can’t say I’ve ever been so gutted a player left. Not Kanchelskis, not Beckham, not even Ronaldo. Nobody.

Hererra embodies the true spirit of United to me, and there is not a single other player I could wholeheartedly say that about in the current team. Lindelöf has potential, but he’s only been at the club a wet day compared to Hererra. I don’t have a fecking clue why Mourinho couldn’t see how talented Hererra is. It could only be down to Mourinho not giving a shit about this club... he played bloody Fellaini week in, week out instead. What the actually feck is going on with this damn club.

Hererra seems like he never really had a truly long and properly consistent run in the first team. Especially not under Mourinho. He never really locked down the position as an automatic starter. Which is odd consider our midfield is worse than it has been in decades.

Hererra obviously isn’t a world-beater on the level of iniesta, or a scholes, but for me, he is easily on the level of a Xabi Alonso. True grit, and passion- a grafter, and holds a team together like glue.

What happened to club captain meaning something? What happened to our number 7 shirt meaning something?

feck whoever made the decision to run down player contracts like United do today.

This is darkest day I’ve ever experienced supporting United since I was 5 years old. That’s 30 damn years, and nothing has compared to this.

I really don’t believe I’m over reacting. We need players like Hererra, and outside of the pure football side of things, he was such a great guy and personality. To think he was on 70k a week for the duration of his contract is truly shocking while Sanchez gets 350-500k. It’s an absolute disgrace.

30 damn years I’ve loved this club, and yeah, no player is bigger than the club. I will continue to love United. But I may take a long hiatus from football after this. I can see United being in doldrums for a good while yet.

Really so sad. Imagine Pogba will be gone in the summer too, we are left with Matic, Fred, Mctominay as our starting midfielder.

From what i have seen , he is not leaving , because of the money . I think he loves playing football and elsewhere sees a chance to be on the pitch .

He will be missed and could have been great for us if treated properly .

All the best , Ander .

The fact he has been one of our best players this season tells you all you need to know about the rest of our team.
He has not always been the first choice in his time here.
Sad to see him go, there are others I would have preferred to see leave first.
I liked his attitude and commitment when wearing the shirt.

But not so disappointed he has left. But I guess that may change if we don't replace him properly.
Normally I would expect to see an upgrade, and I am sure that is what Ole wants, but United's recent history does not make that a given.

Let's hope Ole is allowed to bring in the players he needs to make positive changes.

This just sums up the mess our club is in. No way should he go for a free and the dross get renewed. Not technically the best but I thought he is captain material.

Cant blame him for going as he probably is disillusioned with the club direction. Dont understand any of our fans hating on him.

Herrera had some good performances for us as well as some 'so-so' ones as well, his best performance for me was the man-marking job he did on Hazard at OT last season. Man-Marking for 90 minutes requires a massive personal effort of concentration and energy which Anders produced that day. Always looked like he wanted to play for the shirt and wasn't afraid to let his colleagues know when things went wrong. I wish him well.

However if we are to return to the top echelons then we need players better than Anders and the Club/Ole/Ed whoever, not being 'persuaded' to pay him more than he is worth is a good sign for the future, hopefully the days of submitting to blackmail from only average players is over at OT (fingers crossed)!

A shame we’ve let go our best outfield player over the last five seasons, but if losing Herrera confirms the beginning of a significant overhaul of the squad then let’s get behind management and applaud its decision.

That said, Herrera was one of our few players who gave everything for the badge on the front of the shirt, not the name on the back. I fear we’re not going to bring in another footballer like him to OT for a long time.
