Please stop putting Mkhitaryan in the 10 spot. I have watched him for more than 100 matches to assure that he's poor when playing at CAM, his best position is a free roam RM, of course not a wingers, but a wide-playmaker like Lemar.

And that's his problem. I still remember the early days when he played CAM for BvB, he was absolutely rubbish (even worse than the recent Performance for us ), Klopp forced Mkhitaryan to replace Gotze and becone the main man of BvB and Micki was so shit because of this. Later on, Tuchel came and put Micki out wide, release him from ball rotation duty, his job was making movement to create space, run as fast as possible to put in a cross (his crossing in 15/16 was really good). He didnt have to participate in ball rotation with Reus and Gundogan (because he's shit at this), all he had to do were making runs, receive the ball, do a 1-2 pass and provide through balls or crosses or making runs in to the box and score. It can even said that he never had to pass the ball backward. In other words, his job was finish the attack or put in a magic moment to assists. He was never good at dictating the game for Dortmund. In fact, he was shit at it.

He's not a 10. He's a RM, that's simple. Even his best performance for us (vs Spurs) came from the right flank.

Just stupidity then...

You can be crap and still pop up with an assist and/or a goal. Problem with someone in Mkhis position is that when he's crap, it affects the rest of the team in a negative way. He's there to link midfield and attack, feed the pass to the right players, create space by making runs.

I find it strange that some are so obsessed with his stats that they completely overlook the detrimental effect he has on the team. He's not a striker, we can't afford having a creative midfielder that's completely nullified for the vast majority of the match.

With all his risky passing, Miki is still better than Mata, Lingard or Martial. At this point he is undroppable. When Ozil comes in or Griezmann, then we can talk about being a sub or starting on the right at times. But for now, I would rather start Miki than Lingard or Mata. You may not like his stats, but Lingard or Mata don't have those and don't do much in the final third. Let's just remember that before this game, Miki started all the games, all wins and a draw against Pool. Stop being hysterical, right now there is no good replacement for him.

Thank goodness finally some logic and common sense after all the tirade in here. He is having a down spell and Pogba being out isn't helping him either and neither is Jose's tactics.

Until we have someone better, he is the best we have and let's hope he will regain his form.

It's somewhat funny that it's considered logic and common sense to believe that the debate is about Mkhi's stats.

Making stats available online is the biggest disaster since crystal pepsi.

No, no one is complaining about his stats. He's ranked third in the league in terms of assists, behind De Bruyne and Silva who both have 6. Nobody in their right mind is going to argue that Mkhi's 5 assists in the league is bad. Then again, no one in their right mind is going to argue that he's even remotely close to being as influential as either Silva or De Bruyne, even if you removed their assists.

Mkhi's tendency to be shit for 85% of the matches is having a detrimental effect on our attacking football. If he's so dependant on having Pogba around, then bench him until Pogba returns from injury. He's supposed to be a natural link between midfield and our forwards, he came on second half against Huddlesfield and went missing. When Mkhi doesn't get an assist or a goal he's utter useless on the pitch, adds absolutely nothing at all to our general play. That's the problem and that's what the debate is about.

What happened to Miki?

He was quite alright start of the season, he managed to dribble with good acceleration to beat his opponent, good decision making getting us assists, good movement off the ball etc. These last 3 games he had lost that, can't dribble, takes too long when on the ball and not enough movement. Missing Pogba is he?

When you say bench him, who do you have in mind? Herrera is not in form to play 4-3-3. YOU SAW WHAT Mata, Lingard and Martial did in the first half. Nothing.

First half was an absolute disaster, and regardless of how Mikhi played, in my opinion the second half had a bit more zest due to him being on the pitch.

Its simple, we need a couple of more class players in times when we are shit like this.
Jose is in real trouble. He relieshis games mainly on good defense and solid midfield. We lost both of our best centrbacks and lost two strong central midfielders. Its actually, pretty tough for him to come up with a defensive scheme. Attack with all you have for gods sake.

Micki has to be used properly. I agree that his best position is probably not no 10 but more around the RM slot. Currently we have a Mata or a Lingard filling that up which is atrocious

And pretty much nothing was done second half either, we even had to put Smalling as a striker and boot it up to him. We still struggled to put passes together and bypass Huddersfield.

The Huddersfield match was a team disaster. It's a bit funny that people will slate Mata, Lingard and Martial for the first half, and use it as an excuse as to why they shouldn't play, but somehow Mkhi needs to play more often after the shower of shite he's shown.

I had high hopes for him this season, especially after the assist tally at the start of the season, however he fell back to last season form pretty quickly. One thing I don't understand is how easily he's pushed of the ball. When a defender is in his immediate vicinity he loses the ball automatically it seems. It's ridiculous.

You still did not say whom would you play right now.

For feck sake he hasn't been consistently shit, we won the Europa largely thanks to him and he has shown moments of brilliance last and this year.

His problem is that he is inconsistent - good or bad!!!

Nothing, he is still the same MKhi. The game has changed. The balance of the team is off. He gets instructions to play differently/risk less. Plus united plays against two layers of defense a lot of times. Mkhi isn't very good and possession, he never was. That, although, doesn't take his abilities away.
Back in SHakhtar when he was very young. The coach played him in the middle as a CM. I do even remember the game where he played against Messi playing CM. He was supposed to hold Messi. lol. That turned out to be very funny.
Eventually, the coach tried him as a number 9, the way Griezmann is playing. He played AM for a couple of seasons and he scored the record 25 goals being a AM. That was the all time record and the record still holds. All he did was to pass and run and score. Same way he did in Dortmund second season. He had Willian and Fernandino passing to him at Shakhtar a lot. Willian was doing the possession job and was handing great crosses and passes to Mkhi. It was fun to watch. He played very similarly in Dortmund second season. Thats where he uses his advantage (being quick on the ball).
We play super slow at times when we attack teams put up a tank in the front. Hard to show class in possession unless you are extremely good with passing.
Mkhi knows how to pass etc, but he is nowhere close to midfielders like Xavi , Iniesta. He needs space and/or fast players around. Im really hoping that he doesn't lose his ability under Jose. Mouringo is a weird coach. The guys would never be able to explore the speed of thought of KDB. He just doesn't see the game that way. Lets hope that things will get back to normal againn.

I think Miki is being honest with his ratings. He nominated Zidane, who has won the CL again. Nominated Allegri, who took Juve to CL finals again. Would you nominate Jose as top 3 European coach based on last year results?

And if he did, the same people would be screaming here that he is kissing his butt.

And I'm sure he does, but 6th place finish in the league does not warrant a nomination.

in your opinion it doesn't but winning two cups in your first season takes some doing especially with average players like mikhi himself

Put that in relation to Real, Juve and Monaco form last season.

This dude is testament to the reason why managers know more than fans. I remember when Mourinho was refusing to play him last season and was threatening to sell him in January. Well how many among us wish Mourinho had actually proceeded with that threat??? Aside from his efforts in last season's Europa (a tournament we would have won with or without him), he's been pretty useless for United.

Don't bullshit, he never threatened to sell him in January. Find a quote that Jose ever said that.
