I don't think Smalling was bad ? Lukaku and Matic were average but the 3 I mentioned imo were the worst.

Liverpool kept playing that ball down the left channel into our area and every time he was miles away from his man. He also made more than one pass straight to their players.

I was more furious with Jones than Smalling today tbh. Anyway back to Mikhi.

Although I agree Myki's overall form lacks consistency and his demeanour at times seems somehow less 'urgent' than other players, I did however feel sorry for him today, as he was being asked to play the 10 role with Lukaku unable to win the ball half the time, let a lone hold it up and with no player(s) available to make a run from deep for him try to play in.

We were really playing a 4-3-2-1, the two behind the front man being Martial, who was forced back quite often to defend and Myki himself, the gaps that regularly appeared between our 3 and our 2 and then our 2 and our 1 when we tried to move forward were 'yawning type' gaps and Liverpool should have taken more advantage of them than they did.

It is becoming 'crunch time' for Myki, another poor showing against a top six side and it could be 'taxi to the airport for Henri'

City have De Bruyne pinging in chance after chance, and we have this chump going missing 90% of the time.

He seems like a confidence player whose girlfriend just dumped him for Robbie Savage.

helps that de bruyne has the likes of jesus, sane and silva around him, we have young and lukaku who not that great on the ball and a inconsistent martial

We have Mata, who can do the job along with pogba but our ball circulation makes it even worse for him to get into dangerous areas with the ball.

Either you change your bal circulation or the player has to adapt to the tactics. His natural style of play suits the tactics bit henever gets the ball and makes movements in right areas.

De Bruyne would create chances in whatever team you put him in, it's what he does. I don't buy in to shifting the blame to other players. Mkhitaryan is responsible for his own shit performances.

This, not worked has it. Good player, but a squad man at best.

Our behind the front man 3 is miles behind our "peers"

I always like him but his performance today was really bad. very disappointed with him.

Thing is it isn't just today, his stats have camouflaged his lacklustre performances but he has been underwhelming all season. A #10 that isn't very creative and can't cut it if not given space and time will never be a huge success in the PL. Especially when he is so easily disposessed as well, a little shoulder barge and he looses control and possession of the ball.

Time to address LB/10 and maybe we can become a force again.

The jigsaw is close to being revealed though and at least we now know our weak spots, so if we know, you can bet your bottom $ that Jose knows.

Uh, Mikhi didn't try to help Lukaku. Just compare with Lingard when he was on. Lingard put more shift in closing space defensively and yet still at the front offering and passing option for Lukaku. Pressing L'pool defenders... I don't know how can you spin it to shift blame on Lukaku. Mikhi was favored for his end product, yet now that he can't even offer that, it's quite pointless given how we were outnumbered in midfield when Mikhi was supposed to defending yet didn't do as good defensively.

He will probably be brilliant next week and then this performance will be filed away and forgotten. That seems to be the path his United career has taken.

He is such an inconsistant enigma. Frankly speaking, I dont see why Mourinho rates him so highly. He can certainly be upgraded.

fecking hell, this is Martial's second league start all season, do you mean Rashford? And what the hell does it have to do with Mkhi passing the ball to the opponent several times every fecking game? You think De Bruyne will suddenly lose his passing ability if he came here because it's Martial/Rashford? What a ridiculous post

Players don't seem to improve or maintain their level after leaving Dortmund. Sahin, Kagawa, Gotze and now Mkhitaryan.
Perhaps, Dortmund profile is more narrow dimensional player that fits their style. These players don't have that extra dimensions demanded by other clubs?

Before we signed him, I thought he was on De Bruyne's level.
Final ball he is. And KDB has been improving, while arguably Mkhi only ultilize his peak with little room to improve.

Let not forget Rojo the left back was able to single handed marked KDB out of the game in LVG second season. We know how Rojo usually perform as LB. KDB was not the same player as we went back the time.

Pretty poor game of him to be honest. I think he was the worst out there. Terrible at ball retention and deservedly subbed off early. We really need a #10 who doesn't panic in possession and can pick a simple pass when pressed. I'm not talking about a defence splitting pass, just give the ball to a nearby teammate and keep it instead of losing it and inviting pressure.

Lewandowski is the exception that proves the rule.

Mkhi has been a disappointment. I imagine he only stays in the side because Mourinho bought him in the first place, and the lack of an obviously superior replacement. We have a surfeit of attacking players who're not quite good enough.

Hurts to say it but I thought we were getting mf wiz when he signed....I don't know what he or the club needs to do to get him going on a consistent basis...we have seen the KDB glimpse's in him but not nearly enough. Is is the players around him? Mourinhos tactics??

Not the game for him, essentially no space and time on the ball at all with the amount of liverpool's insane pressing. Expected him to struggle today to be honest.

I just dislike his nature of completely disappearing from matches. It makes us look like we are playing with 10 men.

I mean, ok, you are having a tough time, but do something. Chase a man, make silly tackles, try meaningless runs, but just make your presence felt. I just knew at the start of the match that midway through the match, I would forget that he is even on the pitch.

Like, no matter how bad Fellaini is playing, he at least wins headers and makes his presence felt. Mkhi just goes anonymous.

I don't think he would have been in the team had any of Pogba or Fellaini been fit. He is on a downward trajectory. Needs to improve soon otherwise he could end up being another Depay.

I don't understand this. So players pick and choose games. He is playing No 10 at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and he absolutely inconsistent. I agree with an earlier post, I can't see why he is rated so highly by some. He simply doesn't take the game to the level that someone in his position should. He just seems to be slightly too slow, a couple of yards off, and worryingly, it doesn't seem to change. He doesn't inspire or lead enough. Doesn't run games, and is rarely the centre of the game. Why?

Mata and Martial suffer exactly the same problems and this is my concern for our season. None of them, and I also include Lindgaard, are really looking to smash it, week in, week out. I'm getting fed up with Miki. Can't wait till Pogs is back, and I wouldn't mind seeing Mourinho mixing it up a bit.

At least 3 times in the first half he pretended to track back with their man dribbling. You could see all the way he wasn't trying to get to him it was just for show.

Might as well not bother and save more energy.

No idea, I don't really rate him at all though to be honest but relentlessly moaning about players has become a tedious task for me. Last year he was sleight and could barely keep the ball, this year he hasn't bulked up and unsurprisingly can barely keep the ball, more of the same. He's one of our own and all we can do is hope for the best, Liverpool's insane pressing just heightens the fact that when players are around him and dueling with him he's more likely to come off as he did today, untidy going forward and looking like he can barely keep the ball. Just gotta take the rub with the tug on this one in my opinion.

Hasn't bulked up??? WTF

A remark from someone who clearly has not seen him live

I just can't warm up to him at all.

Hopefully Griezmann comes in the summer to replace him.

The problem with him is that he is a final third player. He is not a playmaker who will control games, he is best when he is close to the opponent's box. He thrives on fast transition when the team are on the break and there is space to attack.

He is very good at pressing, and usually that would help him as there is a chance to intercept the ball higher up the pitch and do the damage, but we just do not play that way. We do not press, and in a slow game where he is asked to dictate play he is useless.

He's generally been very good this season. He's hardly the first United attacking player to have a non-existent performance at Anfield. To be fair, all our attacking players were obsolete. The problem today originated from our lack of quality play in midfield.

Disagree that he is a good pressing player. He struggled with Klopp. Last season he also struggled not knowing when to press. Even this game, Lingard for little he was involved showed more intensity pressing. Mkhi was just lukeswarm all round, not involve in midfield enough nor putting heat on defender with pressing. Strange for player with good pace, technique and vision, not to be more impose in game.

He has no fight in him that's his problem. Fair weather player, when he has time and space he looks world class.

Get close to him and pressure him and he wilts. Don't think he should ever start in the big games unfortunately.
