I think you’re forgetting how good he was at Dortmund.

He had one good season. He was pretty shite under Klopp, who's one of the best attacking managers around. His performances have more to do with his mentality than tactics or his ability.

He simply doesn't have the required mentality to make it at a top club. He doesn't seem the type of character to thrive under pressure which is what's needed at clubs going for major honors.

True, his mentality is very questionable.

I want this to happen just because swaps never do.

Also he's been a disaster for us outside of the EL.

Early team news from Mourinho
Jose has confirmed Antonio Valencia and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will face Stoke, but Antony Martial is a doubt.

I'm not sure Mkhitaryan will accept the swap, if indeed it's on the table.

Not surprising Mkhitaryan is refusing to go to Arsenal. I think he fancies playing in Italy. United should abandon the player swap scenario and just stump up the ~£30m asking price for Sanchez and recoup money through a Mkhitaryan sale to a better suitor.

Didn't make the bench. Looks like the Mkhi swap deal might be a genuine option we are considering.

Sky just reported that Jose said Mkhitaryan's head isn't right because of speculation over his future. That's why he's not in the squad.

I assume that means he's in the middle of contract talks with Arsenal or he's that sensitive he can't even deal with the talk. Somehow I feel it's not the latter.

Interesting. Although Mkhitaryan not making the squad has been a regular occurrence since the end of November so we'll have to wait and see.

Jose said in an interview before the game that, 'his head isn't in the right place'. Cheeky

Doubts about his future at the club.

This is one time where the player is entirely to blame for his predicament, he has been pathetic.

Express is reporting that Arsenal have accepted 40 mil + Mkhi. Not sure if that is true since it is the Express after all, but could be something to his absence.

Really is such a shame it hasn’t worked out for Mkhitaryan here at United, as he was a fabulous player at Dortmund, but the man has never really kicked on since jointing. How is it so hard to motivate yourself as a professional at the pinnacle of your career not to work that bit harder and get on! Boggles my mind.

Maybe he just didn't take the news of Mourinho pushing him to Arsenal well, therefore Mourinho dropped him completely. Might still be stuck with this guy...

Mourinho said he would be part of the squad, then said he will probably start, then he omits him from the squad. This is definitely Mourinho doing something, I dont know what it is, but it smells like fish.

If this is the end of him then Good riddance.

Showed no ambition or drive to kick on, average performance after average performance, offering nothing.

Obviously a Nice bloke away from the pitch but not good enough for us.

£40m + Miki would be fecking absurd. In today's market he's worth a bare minimum of £30m. I would assume if he's included the cash will be £15-20m max.

Had high hopes for him. He looked good in that spell between December and January in his first season.

But he’s been appalling since.

Mkhitaryan is not a PL player, too physical and too high intensity.

This is why he performed well in Europe where the game is slower and more tactical.

If he's involved in a deal for Sanchez it will probably be the best thing he's done in a season and a half with us.

Oh I agree. Even if its' Sanchez, 40 mil + Mkhi is just fleecing us. But Wenger is as good a haggler as bad he is as a coach.
