Strange that he's not getting an opportunity especially with Lingard going off injured and Rooney being abysmal.

Why's he not gotten time today? Looked bright against Wigan and completely isolated the last two matches. Odd he's not been given a chance in a more competitive match situation.

For me he looked underwhelming in his outings and deservedly got no minutes today.

What? He's never going to improve without actually playing and pre-season is the best time to do that. He's undoubtedly a better player than Lingard and Rooney so we should be giving him time to prove that.

Did Riola demand we sign him in order to get Pogba

It's early early days but if fear he could be Cudradoed. Bought by José for a large sum but given little leeway to play into the team.

Rooney yes. Lingard no. I find Mkhi a strange signing because hes a 10 but Pogba will be used as an attacking 8.. so their positions will clash.

He needs to really improve his play out wide to get into the first XI.

He played on the right for Dortmund and he is a better player than Lingard who I'm pretty sure will never have a season like Mkhitaryan's last year.

I don't think it's about his ability. Mourinho knows he's a very good player that's why he signed him. The issue is that he's not gel with the team. Not yet.

Like someone said it isnt an ability issue. Dortmund play a different style.. and he usually occupies very central areas at Dortmund whereas we need width. I'm sure he will overcome this and become the player we need. Lingard is a better tactical fit right now but it could change in a month or even earlier.

 After one gloried friendly. Calm down will ya.

I know, that's why I added an extra early in there. But still it's unsettling, 6 subs, Lingard injured and Rooney playing like a pub player and he gets one minute.

Lingard offers movement that Mkhitaryan doesn't. We lack that. Mickey should be eyeing Rooney's spot. He will have to win his place though.

Bitchy comments from Dortmund in 3...2...

Why would we "bitch"?

I would wager the majority of the Dortmund supporters wants him to fail at United after the way he left the club. At most there will be people who see him neutrally now (that is the camp I find myself in most of the time).

It was still surprising to me that he did not start today and even moreso that he did not come on earlier as the team really cried out for some speed IMO.

I was joking after the shite that came out from Dortmund about Kagawa being misused. You're a precious bunch.

Well, he was but that was only a small reason why it did not work out. Kagawa was a different case, though. Dortmund supporters actually hoped for him to fulfill his dream in the EPL as he was always honest about his goal to play there eventually. He never stopped being a crowd favourite.

I do not really understand the criticism in this case. Last season this guy was one of the best Players in all European top leagues combined. He can Play 10, right and also left. I think he will Team up well with Martial and Pogba and bring us some of the movement up front we have been missing the last 2 seasons.

I don't know much about him. If he can play #10 though he has got to be better than Rooney.

Needs to prove himself. The right wing position is still our biggest weakness and is there for the taking.

How exactly let me ask? If it would be a fair contest Mkhicky wouldn't be one to win the place.

So you are saying that because Mkhitaryan has hipster status among some fans and had one great season at Dortmund then he should come along take the club captains place, just like that? He hasn't done much in preseason either and Jose is looking at the players close up.

I really hope he starts against Bournemouth. Out with the old, in with the new!

I'm guessing this was tactical. Given Mou keeps mentioning him as one of those important signing he absolutely needed to complete his jigsaw.

We'll see what happen next week end.

I think its more about Fitness than anything else. Maybe lingard is sharper (tbf he looked sharpest on the field) and Mkhi is still getting there. Mou has specialised training for everyone and maybe mikhi is on that to get him ready for the season.

My only worry with him is the physicality of the league, other than that he's gotta be given time to settle.

Appears than Lingard is well and truly ahead of him at the moment, strange as he was class against Wigan (has he really been that bad in the other games?)

I think Jose is keeping him away from the limelight and allowing him to settle in and pick his fitness up before throwing him into the team.

I also think there's a degree of politics being played here - Mkhitaryan is the ideal candidate to take Rooney's place and it'll put him in a tough position if it becomes a him vs Rooney thing, especially if he's not fully fit and doesn't perform when put into the team. Let him become 100% and win the fans+media over, and once Jose's had enough of the turd Rooney calls his first touch, there'll be no going back.

Micky himself actually said a few weeks back that he knows he wont play every game. Il need to find the exact quote...

Last man to come on to the field. Probably just so he had to clean and change his clothes. Who knows what he's like at training sessions.
