He is a player in the prime of his career.

This is why one minute I hate Jose (but the next minute, like him). Sort it out and just play him. Fed up of not playing our best players.

Your view of the situation is extremely naive, but fair play, you're free to hold on to it as long as you want. I'll bow out of the discussion by stating that it doesn't particularly matter if he's been training fully for three weeks or a month after a relatively short lay off. He's been with the squad since the start of pre-season, so it's not as if he hasn't had time to integrate. Nor do the Willian and Di Maria comparisons you're bringing up make much sense, as he's significantly older and more proven at the highest level than either of those were at that point.

I don't think age matters when one is 27 and say Wilian was 25 when he joined. Its not a material difference.

I also don't think his injuries were that short. He was out for what, 10 days with the first one (and rushed back wrongly for the City game) and then another week or so for the second one. So he was legitly injured and unavailable to properly train for a cumulative 2 week period at least.. and on top of that had to speed up to the level of the rest of the squad.

I'm not saying that he shouldnt be on the bench today, I too am confused as to why he's being wrapped in bubble wrap. But I do think that Mourinho knows best in these situations and refuse to accept that our manager has lost faith in the player or anything like that. He clearly rates him highly and keeps him involved.

miguel delaney guy is a bullshitter and not even a united correspondent for any of the media outlets. Even if he says mourinho is united manager I would check again.

That would be ridiculous given how little he's played. Hardly a great sample to make a judgement like that on.

Basically all I can remember is one great cameo against Hull and a shocker first half against City. Some short sub appearances elsewhere.

Half the squad apparently are not ready for the PL judging by this.

He pretty much didn't even start in pre-season, despite him having the whole of it to adjust. So I don't think he was ever in Mourinhos plans.

Why sign him then? I have no doubt he was hand picked by mourinho himself.

I don't understand that.

A) Surely Mourinho could've deduced that he wasn't right during scouting and his background make-up
B) Premier League style? Pace and physicality? Henrikh has played in Ukraine and Germany...

It's well documented that he struggles with anxiety and a lack of self-confidence, so I don't see how such treatment is helpful.

If he can't make the squad against Burnley at Old Trafford...

Why did he sign him if he didn't think he could handle the PL?

I know, right? Almost as though some hack is making up shit to get more followers/clicks on his content. That would surely never happen, though. So it's much more likely Mourinho signed off a £30m investment on a player he didn't think could handle PL football...

What the feck are our scouts doing if this is true? So much incompetence.

He says "as per my understanding" - which suggests he is speculating no less than the rest of us

Yesterday mourinho said he needs to work on his off the ball work. I think its similar what happened between him and Mata at chelsea. Maybe Mkhi doesnt have enough in his tacticak game. Lets see what happens in the next game and what he says about it.
Atleast he is getting in the 21 now.

He is reporting what mou said in his interview yesterday. Just trying to be an ITK.

He's probably failed to adapt to being a wing back like Jose wants.

I'm worried about that back line. Blind isn't a natural right sided defender - if not for the exuberance of Iheanacho he could've been exposed.

Regarding Mkhitaryan, we all know Mourinho has a history with judging players too early: Cuadrado, Salah, KdB and Luis being recent examples. Hopefully he gets a chance soon and grabs it with both hands.

It's obvious that Mourinho isn't satisfied that he can fufill his requirements yet, otherwise he'd be starting.

Don't buy the 'getting up to speed, match fitness' BS either. He wasn't at the Euros, he had an advantage over many players.

There's certainly an early issue growning here with regards Mkhitaryan's role in the team, hopefully he plays his way in and puts an end to the question marks soon. But make no mistake, as things stand, Mourinho isn't happy with him.

I posted this back in mid August.

Unfortunately it looks like I was bang on the money again.

You can be sarcastic all you want. Dont think mourinho will give a feck about what anyone else thinks. He wants hard work from his players. Unless Mkhi does it. He wont be in the team.

The transfer could have been done without Mourinho's input, who knows.

If Mourinho did sign him because he liked him, and now is not even giving him a chance, then that is just a disgrace. I hate that side of Mourinho.

What's your honest opinion on this situation Pogue ?

Really not bothered too much about the Mkhitaryan situation. We´ve bought so many exciting new attackers in the last few years. Di Maria, Falcao, Kagawa, Depay..... and none of them lived up to the hype. If it doesn´t work out again we´ll just buy another shiny new toy and get another thread like this again.

I am surprised at the (relatively) low amount of noise from the Raiola camp regarding this. I've always had this feeling that he wasn't fully healed yet and was rushed back for the first match vs City, and the injury became worse. Hopefully (as strange as it sounds) this is the case and not disciplinary issues or Jose not knowing what to do with him.

Said there was something amiss and sadly it doesn't look too good. Just hope Jose gets over it and gives the guy a chance.

Even if all this were true, do you think Mourinho is the kind of coach who lets himself be bullied by an agent?

No, but at the same time, he is coming back from a horrible season with Chelsea so he can't unleash 'the old Mou' yet and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's been holding his punches for now.

How many times have we said something like this?

I know but from his comments of getting used to the intensity of the league there is no excuse if he doesn't play Thursday

You seem to forget that Mourinho sees those players every day.

Indeed. Just patiently waiting, nothing more

Jesse bloody Lingard starts over this guy. No wonder we're a joke of a club right now.

When you see the performances of our other 'wingers' out there it only baffles me even further that he's not even on the bench.

And your point is? Is Miki off at the casino or is he not in training too?

Btw when you start a sentence with 'you seem to forget' you had better make a solid argument.

It's baffling that he's not even on the bench. feck sake.

If we don't win against Burnley then I won't be mad, because we know we would be winning with this guy playing.

This situation is ridiculous. He can't be that bad in training to not even warrant a place on the bench especially when you look at the competition.
