Hector Bellerin

He's pretty much the exact type of player Mourinho has issues with, no way I can see us going for him.

The man makes the haircut, the haircut doen't make the man! :D

The man needs to think twice! But at least his beard isn't as catastrophic anymore:D Says a lot about our goalie when the worst criticism is his hair...

He did sign Pogba.

I sometimes wonder if Mou is considering moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation with 3 CBs (Lindelof, Bailly and Jones), 2 wingbacks (Bellerin/Valencia and Sandro/Sessegnon?). Matic and Jorginho in midfield and Pogba, Lingard, Sanchez and Martial behind Lukaku/Rashford.

On his day he is right up there with the best, however that is the problem it’s on his day and he maybe only has 3-4 of those in a season. He’d probably still be an improvement on what we have but just not sure, he’d become consistent or even be the right fit for Jose if he is still here.

Possibly - though there isnt a huge amount of right backs who jump out as being potentially available, young and at his level... Personally I like benjamin henrichs as he could fill in a couple of roles but a good young german player so probably he ends up at Bayern.

i think its more likley we give TFM a go rather than spending £50m on Bellerin

Yeah there really is a dirth in quality and all the good ones are at top clubs. Personally I wanted us to sign Semedo last season or even Fabinho for RB. I do think same as you TFM will be the choice next season, probably as a back up for Valencia. Heinrichs, I’ve only seen him operate at LB any good at RB?

The games Ive seen at RB it has looked his best position
Its where he has played most of his games as well https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-henrichs/profil/spieler/202591
I guess he might play left back for germany this summer though is will probably be Hector - I assume Kimmich will be right back so probably Henrichs will possibly be cover for both of the?

Lots of posters seem to think Fosu-Mensah is going to step in at right back for us next season but I've only seen him a couple of times so I am curious: is he good at the things that our current full backs get criticised for i.e. beating his man, putting a cross in etc.?

Apparently he has done well at Palace - but I must admit I thought he would end up as a centreback / defensive midfielder rather than a full back / wing back
Hes 6 foot 3 and looks like he is going to be a strong and powerful player - im not sure he is going to be suited to quick sprints up and down the flanks in the long term but I guess he has played at RB a lot this season and there looks to be an opening at RB in our squad so I think he will get an opportunity rather than us spend a lot of money on somebody else

Yeah, that was the impression I had got, so I'm a bit surprised to hear him suggested as someone who could hold down a place for us as a modern attacking full back. Seems to me like the days when you can shove a centre back out wide at the top level might be behind us, but maybe I'm stereotyping him a bit based on a couple of games.

Would be good to hear from anyone who's been watching Palace games about how he's been playing. Has been getting up and down the flank, being dangerous in attack, etc?

He's really terrible defensively :nono:

I think Ramsey's underrated and I'd happily have him but wouldn't go near Bellerin or Wilshere.

We have trouble keeping 2 CB's fit at the same time. Think that Lindelof will be gone in the summer if we can get most of our money back. If we don't get a decent replacement that leaves us shorter in our back line.

I would be very surprised if Lindelof ends up leaving us in the summer.

He started off alright but has struggled to find any form over the last couple of months turning in some absolutely dire performances lately, to be brutally honest I don't think he's anywhere near the level we're looking for, not at full back at least. He's still got a future as a CB I think but he's not someone we can trust over the course of the season at RB.

Fosuh-Mensah has lost his place to Wan-Bissaka at Palace. Reading the Palace forum I don't see TFM winning his place unless WB drops off significantly as he has been putting in some powerful performances.

Seems that he offers what TFM offers as a RB but is better in most departments.

We should be looking at him if he keeps this form up not Bellerin. He played as a winger and midfield in Palace's youth teams too.

With TFM and Wan Bissaka, I really think they have the perfect players to blunt Liverpool's rapid wingers when they visit after the international break.

I think that formation would suit us and players we have. Unsure whether Jose would switch to it though? He seems determined to make this 4-2-3-1 formation work.

I think it wouldn't hurt TFM to go on loan again, he's done very well at CP this season. His main issue is his positioning and he doesn't offer much in attack. He wouldn't be much of an upgrade on Valencia at this point in time.

4-2-3-1 with 2 wingbacks won't work especially if Pogba is played so deep and Lindelof is part of that defense.

Yeah Pogba playing in midfield 2 will be a big problem but in general 4-2-3-1 with 2 attacking wingbacks will work and worked for so many great teams.

I think 4-2-3-1 is slowly being phased out. Irrespective of Pogba it leaves too much space between defense and midfield that can and will be exploited. A 3-4-2-1 formation will get the best out of our team. It provides us with more cover at the back, the wingbacks will give us much needed width and the various Martial, Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford and Lingard will cut inside more causing loads of damage.
