Are you quoting that fee from the press? Because as far as I know there's been no official confirmation, Percy from the Telegraph said £85 mil and he's normally spot on re us.
Your Evans comment and 'Big Club' snipe is a bit daft because it makes you sound nah nah na nah nah.
I gave an honest assessment on Harry and Evans, a view shared by many Leicester fans, I like the bloke and wish him all the best, maybe you should learn a little humility.

Telegraph and Sky said it was £80m with no add ons. And reported that Hull will get 15%.

It wasn’t an intentional snipe. Evans was a good defender at times but had plenty of mistakes in him while when playing for United. He is 5 years older than Maguire though, so he is well experienced and seems to be doing well recently.

There appears to be quite a bit of negativity over Maguire but I see parallels with a certain Steve Bruce.
He wasn’t the quickest, but his partnership with Garry Pallister was one of the best in the modern game. Bruce wasn’t good enough for England but he was good enough for Utd and who is to say that Lindlehoff and Maguire can’t do what Bruce and Pallister did?
I think Maguire is a great improvement on what we have and should really compliment Lindlehoff and the rest of our defence.

Although certainly not my first choice, forget the fee, he is a good signing, is he good enough hiself to sort out our cb problems...no. I feel like others he is probably ore similar to Pallister than Bruce apart from aerially....but both of those players were very good defender, neither were special though, but what a partnership, thats what our best defences have been built on. I woul dsay the same with Ronny JOhnsen, even though I think he was vastly under rated as he was a very good, calm centre back, he wasnt world class, but him alongside Stam was also a fantastic partnership. Probably controversially, also think Vidic individually, though a very good defender wasnt world class or a phenomenal legend of a player....again he was the perfect foil for Ferdinand though and the partnership made him a great player for us.
I actually think Maguire and Lindelof wont work as a partnership as they are actually pretty similar players taking away Maguire aerial ability and I a not a fan of Lindelof. Best case scenario is alongside Maguire, average Lindelof does make a great partnership....but, hoping he isnt sent on loan and gets chances, I think Tuanzabe and Maguire or Lindelof may make a great one

Video shows he arrived at Carrington today. I’m no expert but have been through a similar process. At Carrington it suggests they were doing basic fitness testing, probably testing cardio-vascular/lung strength and recovery e.g. exercise based, such as speed and endurance testing. They will likely send him to a clinic, tomorrow latest, for things like ECG’s, lung capacity tests, blood testing etc and any scans if there’s any cause for concerns, such as knees etc. Bottom line is all should be over tomorrow latest with results early Monday.
What a noob, I've had tons more tests done in a day, and I was actually sick!
Joke. Feel bad for using so much white text lately.

We’ve been mugged on this deal. Maguire better than Jones, Smalling etc but the price is a complete joke. Thought I could live with it but hearing Rodgers having a laugh at us is very hard to take.

I suppose he improves the squad so have to focus on the positive.

We just need to sell Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, then effective price of Maguire will no longer be that high.

It's just football. Please contact someone if you need help.

Rodgers will always try to spin it as a good deal, but it's a bad deal for Leicester and a expensive deal for us. They barely have any money left after replacing him with a inferior player and giving Hull their 15%.

Unnecessary snarkiness there my friend.

You seemed very much not happy with Brendan laughing and the point was to cheer you up a bit, not be snarky.

Fair enough. I’m over it. I realise it’s Brendan with his small brain and I doubt he fully even understands why it is funny.

Just because you want to feel better about it doesn't mean it is correct.

BBC had this as their sports headline - it won't get any more official than this
Harry Maguire: Man Utd agree £80m deal for Leicester defender

Also, you need to calm down. United were terrible last season and Leicester with Vardy lost home and away to United. No amount of  is going to change that. No need to feel so bitter and triggered all the time.

Also, almost every United fan here has seen a lot more of Evans than you lot. Evans is a great guy and both him and his wife and lifetime United fans and obviously people are happy to see him do well at a smaller club. He would have had a much better career with stronger mentality.

Leave the money part to the Glazers to worry. Its their money. I am just glad we got a defender in.

Oh thanks, must be a new rule I remember not so long ago an Arsenal team starting in the UCL without a single english player in the starting XI.
The rule was in place then. Pogba and Lukaku count as homegrown to show you how that's possible.

He is probably easier to sell than those two, and there isn't much time to find suitors.
On the plus side, if it's true, I believe we'll keep Tuanzebe around.

I think everyone-ish by this point thinks Rojo should go first, with Jones and Bailly as the sicknotes being next. Unfortunately they need someone to want them and to pay them enough for them to want to do a transfer before we can get rid.
It'll backfire when Jones and Rojo are injured for months and we run Lindelof and Maguire into the ground.

From Hirst's article. So we got the fee down from 95 million to 80 million and people are moaning why we didn't sign him month back
Because the most common price that was quoted in the media was 80/85m.So obviously if we buy him for one of those figures people will question why it took so long.

Exactly, we have half a new back line this year with AWB as well, there's bound to be teething problems, Lindelof needed Matic to hold his hand in the early days to get through games and he has at least improved this season, at least Maguire and AWB wont need time to adapt to the league though so thats a big bonus. Remains to be seen who his main partner will be yet as well so that will take sometime too.
Matic?

Ducker, Hirst and even BBC reported they wanted 90 million for him( long before the deal was agreed). Just because few unreliable outlets (which are more in number) reported it and copied from each other, doesnt make it truth.

I agree. Just for weeks I only saw the 80m/85m as did most others. Very few outlets had the figures higher than that up until the last couple weeks.

Thanks. £80m seems to be the widespread figure from many reliable sources. Leicester probably tried to say it was £85m to make it look better from their side which has resulted as fans saying £85m plus...but it appears to be be a flat £80m with no additional clauses.

15% paid to Hull, leaving £68m to Leicester.

Omg he's slower than Matic.

Pace isn't everything I get that but this guy isn't just not quick. He's monumentally slow like a sun dial.

Do you actually have proof of this negotiation from 95m down to 80m?

Times article reported by Hirst.
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million, a world-record fee for a defender.

Leicester had valued Maguire at £95 million, but dropped their asking price after it became clear that the England centre back wanted to move to Old Trafford.

The clubs agreed a fee for the 26-year-old yesterday morning and he is expected to undergo a medical at United’s Carrington training base today. He is set to sign a five-year contract with the option of a further year, and will begin training with his new team-mates on Monday.

Also telegraph article reported by Percy, Ducker on July 2nd.

United’s top offer since the end of the season remains £60 million and the King Power club are still adamant that, while every player has a price, no offers below the £90million mark will be entertained. Leicester made their stance clear to both Manchester United and Manchester City in May and are determined to stick with their valuation, with the £75 million sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool in January 2018 being used as a barometer.

Yeah right. So how many exercise miles did you do on a bike when you were sick? How many twists and turns did you do to assess mobility and what were your knee bend angle measurements? Tests for illness and tests for fitness are very, very different - especially when £80m is involved.

We got a live one.

I remember one game, it escapes me now, it was in the early days of Lindelof when he was majorly struggling (Arsenal at home rings a bell) where Jose played Matic so deep he was practically another center back, stood next to him the whole game to help him through it, was hilarious and horrific to watch in equal measure.

Lindelof last season, while unpolished, was undoubtedly better than any form Smalling has shown in the last 3 or 4 years.
Last season was one of Smalling's weaker seasons, and it's still debatable which of he and Lindelof were better. Lindelof finished the season better and looks to be the future (forgetting his shocker against Milan yesterday), but let's not go overboard.

I'm not really going overboard, I don't think he's been amazing. Smalling has been pretty poor for the last 3 seasons is all. There's a reason why everyone is rejoicing about having him out of the starting XI.

Hopefully this is completed by tomorrow morning and we can focus on the Dybala/Lukaku deal heading into Thursdays deadline.

Warn you now Harry M, this reminds me of the Rom signing where it wasn't some of the fans first choice and they weren't happy about the fee. The vultures will be circling, forensically examine everything you waiting for their moment when you make a mistake to stick the boot in. What you are good at will be minimised, what you are bad at with be magnified and it will be questioned why you haven't had the same impact as the lad down the road who cost less but single handily took Liverpool to the CL final. This is a tough gig you are about to sign up for mate.....

This is laughable, you are saying this is a bad deal for us, basing this on more bs press speculation to make yourself feel better over the price you paid.

As for replacing with an inferior player, more deluded Billy big bollox mentality, apart from a few duds I think our transfer dealings, quality, policy and vfm/roi are pretty spot on, how's Ed doing?
