How'd he do against Ukraine.
Marked his own teammate on Ukraine's goal which is what led to Ukraine having a clear shot on goal.

This is what really pisses me off.He obviously has his favourites and talks rubbish about selecting players. He always says "you have to be playing for your club, be mentally ready and carryin gyourself corectly off the field"....etc etc etc but says totally differnt things in terms of selecting his favourites "he has always performed well for us"
Excuse me, you’re not allowed to say that around hereWas pretty much ok
Yeah, today is what I meant. Good to hear!Today or historically?
Played alongside Guehi, did fine.
That was so bizarre, it reminded me of school kids being sucked towards the ball.Marked his own teammate on Ukraine's goal which is what led to Ukraine having a clear shot on goal.
Sorry I ment to say he was absolute rubbish.Excuse me, you’re not allowed to say that around here
That’s more like it! Now if you could just post that 15-20 times in every thread, even ones in the general that have nothing to do with him or even football itself, then you’ll be welcomed back into the foldSorry I ment to say he was absolute rubbish.
People saying, dont worry when he isnt playing for us he will move in January to get games before the Euros.....naive
I thought SOuthgate has often been overly criticised and has got us far in tournaments and handles the plaeyrs very well. Same token I also got annoyed at the sides he has selected, obviosuly everyone has different opinions on players.....but now his selections and explanations in interviews are really pissing me off.

We have seen it with the likes of Mount and Kalvin Phillips and we are seeing it again now with the likes of Henderson and Maguire.
It doesnt matter if Maguire plays here, he will still get selected by SOuthgate, makes no difference to January
He didn't and every sports writer has either blamed Chilwell pushing up, leaving the left side exposed and Henderson for letting Zinchenko run free, but you could guarantee a certain cabal of agenda-driven United posters would still blame Maguire.Marked his own teammate on Ukraine's goal which is what led to Ukraine having a clear shot on goal.

Yeah, it's hard to take anyone seriously if they come up with "Maguire was marking Guehi", it further reinforces the point that many don't watch game or even the video of the incident, they just go by what's trending on Twitter.
Thanks for the tip I will get right on it.That’s more like it! Now if you could just post that 15-20 times in every thread, even ones in the general that have nothing to do with him or even football itself, then you’ll be welcomed back into the fold
Or just don't understand how football works at all.Yeah, it's hard to take anyone seriously if they come up with "Maguire was marking Guehi", it further reinforces the point that many don't watch game or even the video of the incident, they just go by what's trending on Twitter.
I heard he's definitely responsible for inflation and the state of the NHS, bastard.feck me, he’ll be blamed for global warming next
Stop reading social media and actually watch the goal yourselfMarked his own teammate on Ukraine's goal which is what led to Ukraine having a clear shot on goal.
Watch again. He tracks his man (their number 9) who makes a run across.
The issue on the goal was the midfield not tracking back and Chilwell.

Not sure about global warming, but he was in Greece a few years back, and then there were blazing fires roaming Rhodos and other islands this summer. Coincidence? I think not.feck me, he’ll be blamed for global warming next

I think the tendency to talk about ‘favorites’ in coaches selections is very much misleading how it’s often used. When coaches - whose whole carreers often can come and go with a throw of the dice - use a player more than popular opinion would suggest, or in contrast with the general principles they often refer to, it is never the kind of ‘favoritism’ we associate with a parent having favorite children, or a teacher having favorite pupils. Any coach at that level will sacrifice relationships as well as principles if they think it nevessary to achieve their goals/avvoid failure. What happens is that a coach may ‘favor‘ a player in the same way they may ‘favor’ a tactical tool like ‘an extra man in defence’ or ‘physicality in midfield’ or ‘left footed LCB’s’ or the like.
They have some general principles and some rules of practice they lead by, and they explain to the players and press whatever deemed necessary to maintain a consistent story, but if, say, Ferguson deemed Cantona effective enough in terms of success, he’d persist with him in spite of accusations of ‘special treatment’, ‘setting an example’, ‘undermining authority’ or mny other apparent unbreakable rules he operated by. It may not be fair, but it’s never in spite of wanting results, short or long term.
When Ten Hag sticks with Antony on RW, it almost seems like some people expect it’s in spite of results, in order to save face or to justify the expence, or ‘nepotism’, as if Ten Hag would jeopardize his success as a manager by ‘helping a brother out’ or something.
It’s quite obviously about an insistence of his own belief that United works better with Antony starting than it would with Sancho, Diallo or Pellistri, and well enough to stick with that solution ahead of selling him and buying, say, Moussa Diaby or sth instead.
One may disagree and think one knows better, sure, but talking about ‘favoritism’ is even more misleading and misunderstood than talking about ‘jobs for the boys’.
Quite the opposite, when Ferguson stuck with Ronaldo, it was not because Ronaldo was his favorite person or anything, like Van Nistelrooy self obsessedly seemed to think, it was that in spite of RVN, most of the press, and much of the fans, and teo/three consecutive ‘weak seasons’ while Ronaldo overdribbled and struggled with end product, Ferguson was stubbornly convinced that Ronaldo was a better path to success than persisting with Van Nistelrooy, talented as he was.
When a coach sticks with an unpopular choice, it’s never to please anyone, it’s quite the opposite, it’s because they really deem that choice as completely necessary to achieve basic goals.
I am very sure the same goes for Southgate. He has his principles, but when he looks at his options, he is so convinced England will function better with a match rusty Maguire than with a more popular choice, he’s going to take the heat, stress and humiliation of inventing some exceptiin or excuse to explain why he’s picked in spite of the apparent inconsistency.
I swear people just look for reasons for him to be at fault.
I log back in after a near five month absence, here you are firing off the same arguments against as many posters as you can in this thread, and you had the audacity to say I have an agenda?! (The same agenda I suppose our manager has too now, right?).
You make a lot of valid points in general which I absolutely agree with, but honestly, check your responses in this thread alone. At this point, you’re either Maguire’s brother, his love child, or Harry himself.
Is Maguire at fault for the goal? Yes or no.
