Realistically he'll want to leave in the summer if he's not playing and we'll likely be happy to oblige. So just a few more months of putting up with that noise around him before everyone can move on.

Maguire and Jones are not going to shift that many newspapers...do better!

If Maguire is fit he might be some use against Reading or Forest.

Genuinely reckon Casemiro would be a better centre back than Maguire.

He should be sold and the money reinvested in players who don't need to be English to be defended. One of the least likable United players ever.

One things certain, selling him isn’t going to be easy. Can see see this being a long protracted period of negotiations between any potential buyers and his agent.
 
Couldn't really ask a better couple of games to give him a run out or 2 in.
But when the harder stuff starts again Varane - Martinez is the only smart choice.

Shaw and Lindelof are by far better options (in this system) than him. He IS 5th choice option and should stay that until we sell him. Worst transfer in our history

He can turn out when it does our starters good to rest, like midweek.
Today will be interesting. Assume with midweek being as close to a dead rubber as you'll get, we might as well play a decent line-up today.
 
It's clear ten Hag is pushing him away graciously. I think he's managed the situation great and Maguire will be sold in the summer.
 
He went from playing the most minutes played in a year between 2020 & 2022 to now playing very sporadically.

Hopefully in the summer the club sells him and recoups some money if any.
 
Seemed composed on the ball more tonight and defended off the front foot a bit. Credit where it's due tonight.
 
He was alright, but it's clear to see why ETH can't be arsed with him.

He's so fecking slow, ponderous and predictable on the ball. 7/8 touches, diagonal to the left channel.

That is NOT the order. The order is:

Left Centre back--------------------------Right Centre Back

Martinez---------------------------------------Varane
Shaw---------------------------------------------Maguire/Lindelof

So if you want to make an argument, it could be that Maguire is either 2nd or 3rd choice right centre defense. If you haven't noticed, ETH likes to play with a left footer on the left and right footer on the right
 
Typical Maguire performance. Loads of square balls and no attempt to defend at corners.
If Reading had a real go I think they would have had a lot more joy.
Thank god for Martinez and Varane!

100 per cent this. Varane isn't exactly brilliant at advancing the ball. However, seeing Maguire try to advance play...Especially compared to Licha (or even Shaw).

If you haven't noticed, Maguire is ETH least preferred option, we didn't play with a left footed center back today did we?
Maguire is 3rd choice on the right and not even an option on the left, he's below every center back option this season.
 
From what I managed to watch, first half and then snippets of the 2nd, I thought he was pretty untroubled and did what you'd want him to. Neither he nor Lindelof slowed the tempo down, quite the contrary. Showed initiative and helped allow the team to pin back Reading.

Today we didn't play with a left footed LCB but normally we do. This isn't an opinion. It's a fact. So Maguire is either 2nd or 3rd choice RCB, not 5th choice CB
 
He was fine tonight and in terms of performance didn’t make any mistakes. I think he and his agent realise these sorts of cup matches are the only viable opportunity for him to make an impression to any would be buyers.
 
Decent performance. I do think we should be looking to get decent value for him (never going to get the 80 million back obviously)
